There is no way a player will be able to stay fit enough to play all the matches in all the formats throughout his/her career.

The major teams in cricket are divided into players for the three formats. There are maybe 3 to 4 players who play regularly in all three formats. It is possible to do well in any tournament against any team if the squads are made separately for the 3 formats. Because it is very difficult for a player to differentiate himself in all three formats. Because in In T20 cricket you have to bat attacking. In ODI cricket you have to bat responsibly and in Test cricket you have to bat very patiently it becomes very challenging for every player.
If a T20 specialist player is dropped to play Tests, his T20 career can be adversely affected, so if there are enough opportunities, it can be a very good decision to create separate squads for each format.

Shubman Gill achieved a personal milestone, but at the same time he got good support from the low quality bowling attack from the opposition and smaller boundary sizes. Anyway, if all the runs are being scored for a losing cause, it loses it's significance. I would rather blame Hardik Pandya. He had the most balanced team in the IPL and even then he lost two consecutive matches to Chennai Super Kings in the playoffs. Luck was also not in their side. If the rain interruption was not there, then the outcome could have been different and Gujarat Titans would have won.

Shubman Gill's contribution in this IPL season is worth remembering but sadly the final was not for him. The honor of scoring the most runs in this year's IPL is a huge honor for him and his team finished runners-up in the final thanks to his contribution.
