Opening bid is up from $350 to $400 for these now, THESE DO have the 3 pack goldies in them. I still have 12 or 14 or so of these left, looks like it was a good decision to hold off on opening them....

Here's the latest news on the PSA front.     Don't you just love Spiced Pumpkin during this time of the year?!!

A Message from PSA

Dear Collectors,

The past few years at PSA have flown by at breakneck speed. We’ve seen more changes than any of us could have ever imagined: record numbers of daily submissions; the temporary suspension of service levels; the hiring of hundreds of new employees; capacity growth to over 40,000 cards processed per day; and a change in company ownership resulting in a shift from a public company to being privately held. And of course, all this taking place during a global pandemic, just to keep us on our toes.

More change is occurring this week. I have accepted a new position with PSA’s parent company, Collectors Universe, to become its first-ever Chief Marketing Officer, which means I will no longer be serving as PSA President. Personally, and professionally, I welcome the opportunity to further advance PSA’s ever-growing brand and strengthen its No. 1 ranking in the authentication and grading industry. My background before being named PSA President in 2018 was in marketing and product innovation, and I’m eager to apply that experience to PSA and Collectors Universe’s family of brands.

Kevin Lenane, who has been working as our Vice President of Product for the past seven months, will now take over as PSA President. Kevin is an experienced business leader whose company, Genamint, we acquired earlier this year to help PSA implement technology in our grading practices to improve efficiency, quality assurance and turnaround times. Kevin will continue our commitment to improving and advancing the quality of all we do. I pass the baton to Kevin and look forward to working alongside him in the years to come.
Thank you,

Steve Sloan
Collectors Universe Chief Marketing Officer

Yeah I was hoping they were opening back up some of the lower tier pricing level and it was just an employee leaving memo.  Wierd how they email that out.  Who cares if this guy Steve is leaving the company lol.

Have I missed any announcements about them re opening those lower levels, anyone have an idea when they are opening them back up?

PSA is getting caught up.  I have several orders all in grading.  Some as recent as February. Nothing super rare though.

Stack up on the minis as at some point folks will stop seeing a bigger card as a better value.

Yeah I got like 100 cards waiting since March (may when they logged them)  so hopefully soon.  They are also done with January in the $20 modern cost grading services.  I'm wondering when they will open back up the cheaper grading services.  They are gonna get overloaded again with everyone waiting lol.

Notable Sale: Raw 2018 Topps Allen and Ginter Mini Gold Border - October 11, 2021 - $510

https://www.ebay.com/itm/284473128519

curious why a PSA 10 one asking only 1k went with no bids given the price this raw one went for.

If the raw one was in great condition possibly a 10 it's worth buying raw and playing the grade gamble for much cheaper. Also some peoe could care less on grades especially if the raws are somewhere around an 8-10.  Some like to just have a copy so half price for a good piece is worth it.

Spelling corrected...but hey, you knew what I meant, that's the important thing.   Smiley

I thought that everyone knew that there was a shortage of raw materials. Items packaged in plastic will see a rise in cost. And, as you know, once prices go up....they rarely go down. I'm thinking it will be the new "normal" for most goods and services. But hey, I suppose you could be right, the whole world could be making this up as some sort of a fictitious story line.  Cheesy

I think PSA lowered the cost of the lower tier from $200 to the $150 because of loss of business, hoping to spark some sales in an economy that's tightening their purse strings. Especially with up coming holiday's. Of course, you're free to believe whatever you like.

Nice  Smiley

* Had a dialogue with Dave, owner of a local sports card shop today. Looking like anyone who has cards in for grading will be waiting a VERY long time. The shortage of plastic for the slabs, and the fact that the holders from China and other places are sitting on ships in the water with no one to unload them means a long wait. **Note: PSA has lowered one of the two grading fee's from $200 to $150...the other fee is still the $300/2 week turn around.  Undecided

**Side Note:
Buy your Thanksgiving Turkeys NOW. Buy you pumpkin pie filling and other canned goods while they are reasonable. Aluminum is going up in price, not the food, and will increase food costs...stock up. Tomato's, catsup, salsa, tomato juice--all going to be in shortage--if you like to make chili in the winter--stock up now. When it gets close to the holidays, look for stores to close...the few people they have will quit, that's the rumor, store owners here are already being told that their orders for Christmas supplies will not arrive. Personally, I hope they're wrong....but just in case, PLEASE be aware! I hope everyone in here is prepared and wish each of you the very best in the days ahead.  Smiley

Catsup eww.  Ketchup and heinz please.  As far as grading yeah they are taking long.  I sent about 100 cards in March and the are just up to January's submissions right now (psa).  At the rate they are going I'd assume the front end of 2022 I should see them back.  With them staffing up and closing down submissions for awhile it will help but this is the first time I'm hearing about plastic holder shortages.  Where  is dave's source for this info?  Sounds like a made up story psa never came out and said anything, they admitted the overload of submissions and lack of workforce is the issue.
