Hi all,

I am new to Bitcoins but I love the concept. I still don't have any but hopefully by reading the posts in this forum I can learn the best way to acquire them.

I have also started accepting them as a form of payment for my computer business. I don't think that I'll get too many people looking to pay with them but at least I am willing to take them. I would love to see something like this take off and leave paypal in the dust. I hate the way that paypal conducts itself but of course I will take that as a form of payment as well.

Hello from Maryland!

I love the idea and premise that Bitcoin brings to the table of this world. With the dollar slowly but surely failing, and with increased controls on my paper money, I would love for a united worldwide currency to thrive in the fashion Bitcoin could provide.

I'm excited in this venture, and in all honesty I hope to be able to sell items and purchase items in the market section using Bitcoins. I want to support it. I don't look at this as a potential profit, but more as an investment in the future of Bitcoins and my hope of their success!

Make sure you get your Bitcoin t-shirts before Christmas!

Jordonias here, you can call me Jordan.
I've been playing around with bitcoins for some time now and just took the time to finally post on these forums.
I'm interested in developing some sites and software as well as playing some bitcoin poker.

Hiya. I'm a guy and I do things. Website designer and developer, mainly. Came to offer my services as a designer in the marketplace, as I saw a great many sites that seemed in need of a little house cleaning.

I read about bitcoins on the internet. I just started mining bitcoins but I'm not getting rich very fast, I think I may be losing more money on electricity than I am gaining in bitcoins. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe you're spending to much time trolling, and not enough time mining.

Hi everyone,

What exchanges are other newbies using?

I have tried Intersango so far. It was easy to setup but not much traffic for USD/BTC. Still haven't made it through the Mt.Gox verification process, o well. Any good experiences with other exchanges for USD/BTC?

I've not used get-bitcoin, but they have a fairly good reputation here on the forums as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the reply, puts me at ease a little!  Smiley

Bitcoin!

Hi all,

New Bitcoin user in Ireland here, just ordered a large amount of BTC through get-bitcoin, any other newbies used them before? Feeling a bit scared now in case I didn't do enough research.  Undecided Or are there any other BTC users from Ireland on this forum?

Good to meet y'all!  Smiley

Hey, it seems like getting out of the newbie box is going to take awhile.

I'm working on some BitCoin related websites that'll launch as soon as I acquire some more coin and find an area to promote it.

What kind of projects are you working on, or is it secret?

Not secret!

I've ran a 'Free Second Life Linden' site since 2007, and I'm basically going to open one up for BitCoins soon. Where users do things like watch youtube videos/ads, facebook LIKE pages, complete offers, register to sites, etc. and earn BitCoin. In addition to BitCoins users could also withdraw the earned rewards to Second Life, or redeem for amazon gift cards, etc. The site is done, minimum withdrawal is 0.01 BitCoins. I just need to buy/trade for more. Ive traded $L for some, but need more to be on the safe side. On average I'd assume most users would only be able to earn like 0.25 BTC, more only if they put in a lot of effort in 'Tasks'.

Other sites I was thinking about were an online casino where users could compete in skill based games to see who gets the highest amount of points. I'd also like to try my hand at a marketplace.

Those are probably the best three ideas I have. The codes all done from previous projects. Ive had lots of random virtual currency websites over the past few years, so its basically just reworking them for BitCoins and seeing if theres any interest.

Sounds great, but you will face quite a bit of competition for the site giving users the chance to earn small amounts of bitcoins for doing offers etc, there is already a few of those like freedigitalmoney.com. What incentives will you have for people to use your site over the others?
