LTC is still one of the best coins and I don't see that changing in 2018. Even $1000 this year is far from impossible.

Litecoin is once again rising which proved that it has what it takes to bounce after dips because ltc is potentially good investment material specially for long term investment. I think that by the end of 2018 ltc price will reach $500. As a hard fork of btc, ltc has become popular over the years. With substantial industry support, trade volume and liquidity, ltc proved to be a medium of commerce complementary to btc.

Litecoin Cash fork is going on now. All litecoin holders were promised to get 10 LCC (Litecoin Cash) per LTC. The new cryptocurrency works on Bitcoin SHA - 256hasing algorithm instead of Scrypt from Litecoin. It would draw attention of owners mining bitcoin. At the same time, developers promise faster trasactions than bitcoin and Bitcoin cash. This offer draws more investors into Litecoin and Litecoin Cash.

You have a good taste of long term coin. I know Litecoin is really good and okay for long term investment compare to other coin. Litecoin is still undervalued compare to bitcoin so it is much suggested to hold litecoin than bitcoin. 
Litecoin investments are pretty much safe I can say, its one of the top coins and volatility isn't realy damaging it at all. I would personally don't prefer to invest litecoin but I can say it is investable in, low risk low profit scheme.

IMO, if it is the whole market moving down together, I would actually invest LTC (+ a couple of other promising altcoins too).
Altcoins tends to dip a lot more severely vs BTC, and once they rebound, they would give a much greater %gain too.
But it is risky, and you need to do your own research as to which altcoins are solid-projects that actually has a future.
Its greater run in the market because the price is not so high but bitcoin is very high.
To make 2x price in bitcoin is more difficult rather than 2x in altcoin. So of course we will get higher profit but higher risk.
invest in litecoin according to me is the right choice because it is currently litecoin became one of the altcoin who has achieved a high increase could just be more of the current price.

If you want to invest in Litecoin than that is fine. But do not get your hope too high and do not use Litecoin as your main investment and main hope because the profit that you will get from Litecoin may become a little bit more difficult than you think. The price of Litecoin will certainly increase but I do not know how long it will take to make some profit from Litecoin. And for those who are already have Litecoin but have some doubts about Litecoin, I think you can sell some of your Litecoin to get some Bitcoin or Ethereum. That is because Ethereum is also a good choice and I think better than Litecoin.
