i am a newbie in bitcoin, and i plan to buy bitcoin,, and will invest in bitcoin, and i want to ask everyone? if investing in bitcoin is it better short term or long term??? but in my opinion, long-term investment is better, but what do you think?

You should buy Bitcoin and hold it for dear life as it is supposed to skyrocket sooner or later. Due to Bitcoin fundamentals, the option will always be to hodl. In case you want to speculate then yes, you should hold ot short term.
Every investment is subject to risk ans bitcoin is no exception to it. In this regard studying the market is a must to take decision. Investment should be long term if the plan is to hold ans short term plans should be for the purpose of trading. No one have ended with loss out of the long term holding. Short term profiting have risk, but the profit will be high in very less time than any other form of investment.

Both short term and long term can be profitable, but I don't think the short term is better than the long term. Short term investment like trading is too risky, and there is no guarantee you will always be profitable, but if you hold for the long term, you will profit.

Investing short term or long term can also be determined by the period you invested in the market. Users that come in during the bull market should consider investing for short term then take profits and wait for the bear market to return before reinvesting. If you invested at the peak and want the keep holding, you will get disappointed.
Usually the bear will take away all your profits and even your capital when you panic and sell. Bitcoin can be invested in at anytime but make sure you aren't investing at the peak of the bull market as that'll take you alot of years to recover just your capital.
For example, those that Invested in the peak of 2021 now have to wait until 2024 or beyond to get back their capitals or profits. Always considered the season of markets before taking decision on your investment timeframe.

Of course, everyone has a different opinion about investing.
In my opinion, investing in bitcoin is better in the long run. because in the long run the benefits are greater. but if the short term profit is small, just look at the bitcoin chart from 2009 to 2021. and usually people who invest in the short term invest mostly in altcoins.
But in my personal opinion both of them are good but have different functions and depending on needs, so I think investing in bitcoin is a wise decision if accompanied by good money management, bitcoin can be categorized as a risky investment, because crypto prices fluctuate a lot. the most difficult key in investing is to be patient and manage your emotions, the key to investing is understanding what you are investing in and managing it yourself.

While I do agree that you do have to have some level of understanding on whatever investments you want to invest in, I think you mustn’t necessarily manage your investments yourself.
There are a whole lot of people out there with investments managers that help manage their investments on their behalf. These managers could act on behalf on their clients and are in most cases, a lot more knowledgeable on everything stocks and investments than the client. I do agree that patience is a key feature to have when going into investing.

Short-term investment can be considered gambling or lottery. You can lose (most probably) or you can win (if you're lucky). If it's time-limited and you need to cash out at some certain time it's always a bad idea. There's a significant chance you'll have to liquidate at a loss.  Roll Eyes
Investment isn't a kind of gambling/lottery. But if you invest in shit coins or meme coins, I agree that it can be said to be gambling. So, gambling or not, it doesn't depend on how long you invest, it depends on what coins you invest in. People who invest in coins with good fundamentals must be based on deep research and analysis. They also use certain strategies to optimize profits. While gambling, mostly depends on luck. Research, analysis, or strategy may have no significant influence. So, basically, investment has a bit different approach.

Whether you invest in bitcoin or potential coins would be called gambling if you have no knowledge of it. The only difference between investing and gambling is knowledge, knowledge is what will help you differentiate what you are doing with your money. Investing requires knowledge, but no matter how good your knowledge is, if you don't get lucky, you will always lose.

Of course it's not. I was just comparing it to gambling/lottery, because if you're setting a time limit/period for your investment, it means you'll be forced to sell the stocks, crypto etc you have invested in after some period of time. Let's say you bought BTC at $20k and you have set a time limit of 1 month. After that time you' ll have to sell to get your money back (or may be you borrowed this money) and BTC dumps to $16k after this month. That's what I meant by short term investment. Long term investment, on the other hand, is not so time limited and you have more chance to succeed. After 5 years, say, BTC can be $70k or $700k but you'll earn something either way.  Cool

I haven't seen anyone investing in bitcoin or cryptocurrency with a time limit. I get your point that you aren't earning any profit in the short term, and if it has, then for sure you are lucky. As we can see from the bitcoin chart, it is always long-term; yes, you may profit in the short term over a few months, but it is only a small amount compared to over a few years. The reason for those who sold early is always that they can't control their emotions, which is why they sell even if they're losing as they are scared.

Of course investing in long term is profitable but you need to know when and how you need to buy for maximizing your profits for example at this hyped market i dont recommend anyone to buy for holding because it a full market cycle and before breaking 30k we need to see some lows as history tells us .
So dont buy in FOMO if you want to hold for some years we have full year for buying BTC So stay safe and keep patience .
As you've mentioned about the history, $23k which is the price now was once the ATH in 2020-2021 and then now, it's like one of the bottom price where people are doubting to buy.

If someone wants to buy for holding because we're about to have the halving next year, it's very recommended to buy it like if your targeting price increase is higher than of today.

I do agree that don't FOMO when you're buying but instead, DYOR and don't buy hype just because of the hype. But, this is bitcoin, no hype, normal unpredictable markets, no risk-no gain mentality is on it so you decide just like us who took risk.

In my opinion we should buy both long term and short time. For long term, I think this price is not bad to enter the market. As your statement, if Bitcoin cross 30k then it will be a wiser decision to take profit by investing right now. Then there will be another opportunity to buy more amount and thus we will be able to maximize our wealth.

Short term or long term investment, of course, both have advantages and disadvantages.
I think it depends on the ability you have.
If you have the ability to invest with short term like trading that's great.
It will give you profits quickly.
But if you are a beginner and don't have good enough ability to implement a strategy for the short term, you shouldn't do it.

I think long term investing is better and makes more sense for beginners.
In addition, we also have time to better understand how to invest and manage our assets properly.

I think bitcoin will be more suitable in the long term than in the short term because bitcoin's volatility is so great that short term investments are more likely to cause losses than long term. And long-term investment is easier than short-term investment, short-term needs a lot of knowledge and time to observe bitcoin to make a profit.

I think if you invest for short-term needs it might be recommended for the short term, but if you make bitcoin an alternative investment choice besides gold, I think you need to take the long term, because the long term is very promising, especially in a market like this, of course this is the right time for you to invest in bitcoin, and maybe you will get the best opportunity, in the near term you can get profit, as well as in the long term you will definitely get profit too.
I think it can do both together, because Bitcoin is a perfect coin for both long-term and short-term investments.
And by doing a good DCA planning divides the income into several parts and some funds can be spent on long term and some short term investments. I myself am doing both long term investment and short term investment. But I would say that if there is no such lazy fund then short term investment is better than long term investment.

Both short term and long term can be profitable, but I don't think the short term is better than the long term. Short term investment like trading is too risky, and there is no guarantee you will always be profitable, but if you hold for the long term, you will profit. Bitcoin is too volatile, and we can also see that every time bitcoin fluctuates, many long-short positions are liquidated in the market, so to say short-term is better is not true. Short-term or long-term investments should only use lazy funds, do not borrow to invest.

I used to invest short term at first but after taking advice from my friend I now prefer to invest short term as well as long term. These two  After doing that I don't have much loss and most of the time I have a lot of profit. I always prefer to invest in Bitcoin.

I don't know if the four-year bull/bear cycle is an accurate statement. If it is accurate, investing for four years will definitely make money.

There is no guarantee that after 4 years bitcoin will definitely rise again but history happened, in the past 3 halvings bitcoin always bounced back, always hit new ATHs and now we are expecting history to repeat itself. But with the current development and widespread acceptance, it is certain that bitcoin will increase in price in the near future, supply is limited and once demand exceeds supply, price increases are inevitable.
There are too many expectations after halving. People are expecting another ATH for Bitcoin, people are expecting huge profits as well which makes them courageous to buy/invest in Bitcoin during the price deduction.

I actually don't believe in history repeating itself but it was once proven to come and I am also witnessing such an event. This makes me change my view of the market and help enlighten me that Bitcoin is really a good investment whether it was long-term or short-term.

that's right, so the point is that short-term investments in bitcoin are also good as long as we can read charts and must be able to predict well. but if  a long-term investment, of course, our will not think too much about the graph and of course will sell after the bitcoin price rises and of course after there is a big profit.

Short-term investment not only requires a lot of knowledge and skills, but you need to accept the pressure and risks that it brings because trading is not always as profitable as holding. Whether short-term or long-term, you should only invest with money that can lose and should not borrow to invest in bitcoin.
As long as I have traded in short term I got very little profit. Short term investment has lot of risk and after investing with all these risks many times big loss. But I have got lot of profit from long term investment. So now I am no more.  I don't do short term trading as before. Now I like to invest for long term and can make a lot of profit.

Well it a very good question, I guess it very good one if you live it to take a long time this helps your investment to bring more profit then making it short.
Living it for a short or long term I guess it's on you because if you don't want to make use of the money quick, if you don't have any issue at hand you can let it stay. Because the longer it take the bigger profit it gives you.
It is never wrong if you make it short or long I guess all depends on you.

Based on my observation, if you invest after the bitcoin halving, then your investment in it should be short-term because the price starts rising soon and you should try to catch the highest price and sell your bitcoins to profit from the bull market, so the rise of price lasts for one year, then the market crashes and charts decline.
But when you invest after the crash of bull market and the start of bear market, then your investment should be long-term, I mean you should leave your coins untouchable for at least 4 years, till the next halving.

So, to sum up, the mixture of short and long-term investment looks more attractive for me.
Wise investors will always take the best option if it is possible, whether it was a short-term or long-term investment but as long as they will gain profit, that is still okay. And base on your example, he can choose not to sell his/her Bitcoin after halving but to wait for the next cycle if his plan is long-term. But I think is not, he/she preferred to enter during halving because he wanted to sell them in a few days - meaning this person is literally a short-term holder, not because of the market situation.
