Since you are considering investing, I assume you have an exit strategy. There is surely a goal or a magic number in terms of profit you have in your head. Depending on how fast the market moves to that zone determines the end of your investment plan.
If you are considering putting in $10.000 with the aim to profit another $10k and take home $20k, just wait until the market gets there. Maybe in a year, maybe in 5. So, long-term or short term doesn't really matter. But if you are considering speculating just to see what will happen in 3 or 5 years from now, just invest an amount you are comfortable with losing and leave it alone.
Life circumstances can change rapidly. When you are in dire need of money, selling at a loss doesn't seem like a bad idea.
This can also be assessed from the point of view that if you buy bitcoin at a lower price, then the goal of x2, doubling the invested funds, will be achieved faster. Although this is a dubious strategy, because with this point of view, you can constantly wait for the best time to buy.
If we take a period of 3-5 years to invest in bitcoin, then I think that this is a more reliable investment that will bring good profits. I invest in bitcoin and maybe even for a longer period and I hope that my investments will be profitable. And I am not ready to lose the money that I invest in long-term investments, this is an investment from which I expect big returns in the future.
