Bitcoin wouldn't be dead as long as the people have trust and support in the system. From what I see, bitcoin still has the largest market cap in cryptos. It also increases its price at a ridiculous rate and is getting popular by the day. So I'm guessing bitcoin would be around for a long time.

But the warnings are already there. A few months back, Bitcoin had more than 90% share of crypto-coin market capitalization. It has declined to around 45% now. And Ethereum is posing a major challenge to the dominance of Bitcoin for the past many months. And another major challenge is coming from the Bitcoin Cash altcoin.

I think it is.

Bitcoin use adoption has stalled. Media interest has dissipated. Prices have only slowly continued to decline for a long time now. Bitcoin securities have always been and still are a complete mess, with a near 100% failure (scam/fraud/incompetence/etc) rate. Mining has been concentrated in the hands of a few giant players, eliminating much of the advantage/security/democracy of thousands of individuals being the money processors. Alternative forms of online payment with US dollars (and other fiat currencies) are now cheaper, faster, and more secure than bitcoin (and of course far more usable to buy/sell real goods/services), eliminating any of its advantages as a payment system. Continued decline of bitcoin and strength in fiat currencies has put the lie to the idea of bitcoin as a store of value; there are far better more reliable hedges against inflation. Meanwhile the real economy is firing on all cylinders, stock markets are at all time highs, corporate earnings are higher than ever, unemployment is low, etc. Even amid the boom, no one cares about bitcoin any more. Bitcoin was a fad that lasted a few years, and is now on its way to being forgotten.

Thoughts? Anyone seriously disagree with this conclusion?
there is a high chance that the price of the bitcoin will go down but there is no possibilities that the bitcoin will die. Bitcoin is very strong and very good in investment nowadays. It is impossible if the bitcoin will die.
Here i agree with op and also with you but still here possibilities of the bitcoin down in the price is much small because the main reason behind this factor is that if the price of thr bitcoin will go down speedly then with the positive thinking many rich people will buy btc easily because they know exactly that what the bitcoin is and how they can make money again with increasing price .
Here already we seen many types of such factors that came and results into down in the price and also increase in price rapidly because demands are more for buy in the bitcoin market then what is the demand if selling .
So don't think about the bitcoin in negetive ways and be ready always for the pump and make earnings with that pumps because it takes a small time to increase the price in the bitcoin and also small time to down in the price of the bitcoin .

If Bitcoin died, the cryptocurrency community will find new crypto replace it, don't worry about this issue because in the past have many predict about this situation. But after all Bitcoin just growth more than and reach to highest price like now.
Yes you're right mate in this things, bitcoin encountered many circumstances were they said bitcoin will not long last or something etc. But look at the price value of bitcoin so far in the present it is very closed to 5000$, and many community of bitcoin believed it will reach 10,000$ or more by next year. So which means, bitcoin will exist as long as there is a users continuing patronizing it.

All the above securities failure are not related to bitcoin network itself, right?

I totally disagree to this Dead Bitcoin speculation because more and more people and nations as well are pouring in to bitcoin even block chain system will plan to adopt by the pentagon because they believe it is reliable and strong. Well lets just see what will happen to the bitcoin value in the end of year 2017 because as of now the value reach to $4,600 already. If the value decreases after 2017 then maybe the speculation will going to be true.

Bitcoin at the moment is far from dead. In the off chance it does die, I believe another crypto coin will take it's place, as cryptos are all the rage these days. Time will tell...

Bitcoins are the backbone of the crypto market. Digital currency world can’t survive without bitcoins. People are attracted towards digital currencies mostly because of bitcoins. When bitcoins are creating history, how can anyone consider them dead? They are alive and more energetic than ever.

Exactly. Bitcoin is the reserve currency of crypto land. Every altcoin has at least a BTC trading pair, so they will depend on the pioneer cryptocurrency's existence to survive for the long term.

Therefore, the more Bitcoin rises in value and popularity, so will the other cryptocurrencies on the market. Bitcoin is the standard of any cryptocurrency in existence, and its development will greatly impact the whole Blockchain ecosystem for many years to come.

Nevertheless, with all the recent uptrend that Bitcoin has experienced lately, it is hard to say that it will become dead anytime soon. Just my opinion Smiley

I don’t know who these creatures are. Why would bitcoins die when they are about to take an epic ride to moon and have already taken off ?
Bitcoins are the future of the world. Soon they are going to be legalized across the globe. The number of bitcoin investors is tremendously increasing day by day.

Exactly. With all the recent uptrend in Bitcoin's price and demand, more people are joining in to make the ecosystem stronger than ever. It has managed to go far since its inception, and up to this point it has been doing very well if you tell me.

Thus, it is safe to say that Bitcoin may never die as long as there are lots of people supporting it towards preserving its future. Soon, the pioneer cryptocurrency will be able to achieve SegWit activation, paving the way towards increasing its block size up to 2mb. Within this period, I believe that other forks may occur like it did with the emergence of Bitcoin Cash.

Despite the facts, Bitcoin will survive within the cryptocurrency space for many years to come. No matter how many forks occur, it could remain solid as ever as long as it has the support from the majority of Bitcoin businesses and individuals. Just my opinion Smiley

I don't think it is, and for better or worse, the community and markets don't think so either.
Because at its core it was essentially a proof of concept, it does it have its shortcomings (from mining power concentration to transactional speed, not to mention purpose), but there are now new cryptos and distributed tech to fill the gap, by specializing in different use cases (albeit at the expense of fragmentation).
Better question is what does bitcoin want to become?  Huh

I think bitcoin is not dead because if bitcoin is dead nobody could earn money and transact through bitcoin at this point in time but as I can see many people are still earning and transacting through bitcoin which I see is not possible for bitcoin to be said as dead.

Bitcoin won't be dead... not in near future. People who says bitcoin is dead don't see the fact if bitcoin is dead, the other altcoin he trust will be dead too if it is not already!
Well, I think bitcoin won't die and it will never happen. In addition to that, I believe that bitcoin will survive in the future and I think its has brighter future. I guess bitcoin will be good enough in the near future. Lastly, I believe to the great potential of bitcoin and it will never die.

Now this sounds very strange. The price of bitcoin has reached the next peak and everyone is buying this crypto currency. He is alive and very popular. I think that we do not need to think that bitcoin is dead for several decades

Correct. Bitcoin is well alive and running. With its increased popularity over the course of this year, it is very hard to say that it will become dead anytime soon. However, this comes into debate if its proposed scalable solution become a failure. Because, if Bitcoin cannot manage to successfully implement the 2mb block size increase, a fork or another altcoin may take over its top place in market cap.

One thing for sure, is that the more Bitcoin's prices rise, the more people it will attract, increasing its popularity over the long term. Given the large number of nodes, and miners that Bitcoin has, it will be here to stay for many years to come. Just my thoughts Grin
