Ethereum is not really a threat in the sense that it does not want to perform the same functions as bitcoin, bitcoin is supposed to be used as a currency, that is its main reason to exist, but Ethereum can do more than that, that is why some call it Bitcoin 2.0 but the most known aspect of Ethereum is the smart contracts aspect.

I am not a technical guy and I can not say much technical reasons, as far as I can see, more and more ICO project like to donate ETH as the payment for tokens recently, so I think the ETH will be widely accepted and there is a threat to the BTC.

I think Eth is an extension, no threat. I think new adopters of BTC will grow faster than the convertors from BTC to Eth. I think less people will initially choose for Eth, the route is via BTC.

While ETH is indeed close to surpassing BTC regarding its market cap (according to http://www.flippening.watch/ ) The two of these should not be compared to each other. Since they are designed for different uses
BTC aimed to be a currency in order to make transactions freely.
Whereas ETH is a token for smart contracts.

As of now not yet, I am still seeing Bitcoin on its growth stage and right now Bitcoin has no competition and thats what the consumers are looking for, technically the consumers are still adapting to Bitcoin I don't think they are currently on the stage in which they are looking for alternatives to it which means they are not looking for other cryptocurrencies.

Smart contracts is what eth is mainly gonna be used for. It has its own benefits over bitcoin. Though i am not sure i completely trust it. Bitcoin i trust, been around very long time and only gets better.

Ethereum never becomes a threat to the bitcoin. Ethereum has slowly growing similar to bitcoin with lot many advantageous features. The same might develop a hard competence to the bitcoin network, but the same won't overcome bitcoin. In my opinion bitcoin and ethereum is like the USD and the Euro which has its own value.
