SLowly yes, Etherium is one of the best altcoin after bitcoin. There are many tokens that are developed in ether blockchain. The token itself is valuable in market beter than new coins released. Many people don't trust to new coins but they give more trust to release token based token in Ether blockchain. Why, There are many developers behind the token release. The tokens also has various function. That's why ether will soon the same with bitcoin.

It's not a threat, ETH has won already. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when

I am afraid that's not true. When we look at the prices of both the coins ETH is way behind BTC and also the market capitalization of ETH is even no way closer to BTC and possibility to surpass BTC market cap will not be possible for ETH in near future. And also most of the online store accept bitcoin.

There is no way bitcoin will be replaced by ETH, bitcoin will be the most used as far as currency goes, bitcoin has been adopted by countries as valid form of payment and many more countries are in the process, bitcoin will surge so high in the next 2 years no other coin will come close.

I also agree that ethereum is not a threat to bitcoin. bitcoin now is a major coin or digital currency used in every country.

We can see that ethereum was also a successful coins in many altcoins but surpassing the bitcoin is almost impossible still a very long run for ethereum the bitcoin have a very high price already but i guess ethereum have a great potential in success but not passing the bitcoin.

In my opinion ethereum is not a threat to BTC because ethereum was not in the half of the value of BTC. Also it takes year before ethereum will become threat to BTC.

I could not see the good development in ethereum the same as bitcoin..
What do you mean about the development of ethereum same as bitcoin? It doesn't make sense for me.

Ethereum based on smartcontract.
ethereum is too far to reach bitcoin since ethereum is just alternative and bitcoin is the main and many company are already accepting bitcoin as payment unlike ethereum that are use only for trading purposes.

This time ethereum as an alternative chain for the bitcoin traders and there is a possibility for ether to be a competitor for bitcoin.

It's not a threat for bitcoin, Both are cryptocurrency which has used by a lot of people.

It doesn't mean ether will always be a threat for bitcoin.

Remember both of coin has a different supporter.

How could it be better than bitcoin? As of now, bitcoin is still crawling into making it the currency to be known but yet it have a large value.
Now, Ethereum. How many wallets have you seen that are accepting ETH? Coinbase is one and after they accepted it many questioned it and some users stopped using Coinbase because of that decision.
For me, it is not really a threat but a good competition for bitcoin to make it shine more specially looking at the price of each one.

Ethereum is not a threat to bitcoin ,as bitcoin is more secure and decentralized ,but Ethereum is a pre mined coin and the scalability is still a big question as well as the security. If you are talking about the price then you still cannot compare with the giant price of bitcoin. So no coin is in existence to threat bitcoin.

Right now the statement is true. No other altcoin can be comparable to BTC. Price, popularity, use and everything is better with BTC. Seeing the growth of all altcoins, Some coins may compete with BTC in the future in the usage purpose but BTC will always be the mother of all cryptocurrencies.

Yes, it seems this is real, all see how BTC develops to date, even the current BTC price is getting higher now, in my opinion Ethereal will not be possible to compete with BTC, since Btc is the first made from Eth. So I do not think it makes sense if Eth replaces BTC.

I heard that the ethereum is much better than the BTC that in fact is the same as BTC but improved and that is the reason why it is rising a lot of price.

Is the Ethereum really better than the BTC? Do you believe that the Ethereum will reach the prices of BTC and even more that will surpasses  the price of BTC, or that even will replace BTC?

What are your thoughts and predictions for Ethereum ??

Regards

I wouldn't say its a threat necessarily.
They are different and there is room for both and a few more at the top.
Smart Contracts show a lot of promise with business applications that bitcoin doesn't cover.
I do expect it to be a long term leader and a platform that many innovations launch from as we find more applications for
crypto technology.

The chain bloats to huge sizes. It won't be very practical to use it in the future. I think something better will replace it sooner or later.

edit: also eth lost the little collectibility it had due to etc. Once eth goes pos etc will be superior in every way.

No ethereum won't be a threat to bitcoin, it is still far away from ETH to claimed bitcoin place, there are a lot investor put their money in ETH and there will be more project using ETH in the future but bitcoin already set foot and most of the people know bitcoin but not ETH, and the bitcoin adoption is larger than ETH, so bitcoin will still become number 1

Oh no! Don't treat eth as an altcoin! Eth isn't an altcoin. It is something different. bla bla bla

Eth is a centralized piece of shitcoin. Just like ripple.

Eth and Ripple are worse than the shittiest zero volume altcoin but people don't give a fuck because somehow they are tricked (because of greed probably) into buying those.
You shouldn't be so rude and hard on ethereum. Firstly, ethereum is altcoin, that is a fact nobody can deny. Secondly, ethereum has its advantages upon bitcoin (smart contracts, potential switch to proof of stake). Thirdly, it does have volume. For the last 24 hours it was $200k. I think such a coin has to be considered seriously no matter what. Nobody can pump a coin like that. This means that there indeed is some value of it just like of any other good coin like btc, ltc etc.

I think the assumption that a big enough coin cannot be pumped is definitely false. No one thought Bernie Madoff could be operating a ponzi scheme because of the sheer size of it. They were wrong.

As I was saying one mutual fund manager invested 10% of his net worth into crypto. Mostly ethereum and bitcoin, presumably. Anyone controlling a mutual fund has access not just to their own savings, but the life savings of hundreds or thousands of the life savings of others as well. There are doubtless players big enough to manipulate wall Street, so how about crypto?

Not saying that ethereum doesn't have intrinsic value, but this intrinsic value would make it a more attractive target for manipulation, as well as a smaller market cap.

Well if you want to compare then get to all the points.

1- Price
2- Development
3- Acceptance
4- Community
5- Technology

I currently think btc wins most (if not all) of those points.
I only see eth as a trading medium nothing else. It can't replace bitcoins. In fact, nothing can.

Etherum in recent times has actually been making some waves which is a development in the right direction but that does make it a threat to  bitcoin in all sincerity from the way I see it, its just like a young chap from Manchester United or City making waves and everybody is happy with him then we start to say he is now a threat to a Ronaldo or a Messi. Which means for me see Etherum as a threat, then there is long way to go.

We can't compare etherium to bitcoin because bitcoin is too far from etherium. As we can see in the coinmarketcap, etheriums' market cap volume is need to thrice to reach the volume of bitcoin. So for now, there is no altcoin can compare to bitcoin as of now, maybe in the future as the time pass.
