I think its one of the safest coins to invest thousands of dollars. There are tonnes of icos coming into ethereum blockchain everyday. I don't even count airdrops so on. Everyday many eth is burnt as gas too.

For me, this is one of the best for long term investment and you are lucky enough to ETH when it was $300. Most altcoins are using it for their platform. When the market is bleeding, ETH is not that affected with that. But whatever the coin is, all of them have a future you just have ensure which of them have a greater one. I didn't regret holding ETH since the time I started in crypto world.

Of course Ethereum is good because many ICO projects are using the Ethereum platform. therefore everyone needs ethereum for the fee of sending that ICO(Token) to Exchanger. If someone need to sell that token. therefore more people are using and buy Ethereum for that matter then the Ethereum price will go up and good for the long-term investment.

People like to say that 95% of altcoin will fail in the long term but I believe that ethereum is one of the 5% that will succeed. Remember the dotcom bubble ? There are lots of startup that failed but only a few succeeded like Amazon for exemple and I believe that ethereum is like the Amazon for Crypto. Also if you invested in Ethereum since january 2017 you will have more money than if you invested in Bitcoin. So I think that Ethereum is a good investment for short term and long term.
