There are so many alts so there is no general answer to this question. It is fine to hold good alts. All coins go down in a correction but good ones will come backup stronger.
sometimes it becomes dangerous when you only hold the coins you have. you should hold a coin for some reason, for example when the project has a plan to build something big in a particular month, which can make the price rise, or they plan to enter a large market. of course it can make the price rise. without thinking about that, of course it's quite dangerous.

holding alts is a really dangerous move if you choose a wrong one , safe ones are either on top 50 Coinmarketcap or has a real world usecase although the reward / return is lower compare to below 100 coinmarketcap rank , it is safer since its more established and already have community built around it . so the reward ratio is a little bit good comparing to losing

Altcoin hold is not dangerous if holding a good and potential coin. holding can be done when market conditions are not as stable as they are today. and that's a good strategy for securing assets.
When you are saying it's not dangerous and what about there are some coins that getting dumped more than 100% just in overnight? it's more volatile compared with bitcoin because it cna be manipulated with only a little volume.
Just watch the market and you will see the truth that has already happened with the market in so many times.

If you choose altcoins that have good technology and a team of developers who want to make the world a better place, then long-term investments are not dangerous.

It is risky if we choose the wrong coin not developed and less potent, so I think if you decide to hold the altcoin for a long time then you have to know the analysis to choose good coin.
Of course, it is better to choose a project already ready for the product, but first of all we must pay attention to the prospects of that project and the relevance in the society. only in this way can guarantee a good income for yourself.

Each type of altcoin has a different potential, I hold a lot of altcoin but their growth power is not there, but some of my friends are holding the altcoin and they are getting richer.

Well, yes, its kind of dangerous because you can gain something but in current situation it's more likely that you'll gradually loose %s of your portfolio.
I completely agree with you, because the current state of the crypto-currency market is very bad for many projects. This impact can lead to a loss of funds that users invested in these coins.

I think this is a very true statement, it can really be very dangerous, because your investments are falling and there is no guarantee for growth.
in any case, today the market shows a fairly good trend towards growth. Of course, this is a little disappointing, because most of my coins today have fallen in price by more than 10 times.

Only holding tokens that are designed to increase in value over time makes sense. Otherwise you're just gambling on something you hope will somehow gain value simply by virtue of time itself - a very faulty expectation.

These all actions are certainly dangerous and have their share of risk, which may not be justified, but with the risks also need to be able to work and benefit from them.

No they are not. Investments in altcoins are just the most secure for the long term because of the sharp jumps in the price of the cryptocurrency then down, then up.

No in General, the altcoins market will also grow, the question is how long you plan to invest, and what risks are ready.
I for example invest for 2 or 3 years. I'm sure that every altcoin and top 100 has a chance to grow very much

It is always better to stay positive yourself and do not pay attention to any negative around you. I believe that the market situation will change really very soon.
we can't know that altcoins are dangerous,
but we can reduce that risk by not investing all your money,
altcoin have a big risk but in my opinion it is better to invest your funds in ethereum or bitcoin which has proven good growth in the future, for other altcoins it is still inconclusive.

Last year alts rise a lot. I dont know the average percentage. But when I check coins in the market at year 2013 lots of them dead now (too low ranks). probably new tech coins won them (like peercoin, namecoin, ixcoin etc)

Also we are following new ICO s and most of us expecting too much gain from new coins which are not at the market. If our ICO expectations will happen, when they added to market, current market coins will go down. kind of paradox  Huh

i don't think so

it's dangerous if you holding some useless stillborn coins hoping that they will rise. But if we talking not about this type of coins then it's ok I think.

not all altcos are designed for long-term retention, some are better to sell faster, but some are best kept
