think the first condition to hold altcoin is that the coin promises to be hold. has great potential in the future. of course that potential can be seen from their project, technology that brought, and large users. make sure you hold the coins that have these specifications so the risk will be reduced and the possibility of profits will be even greater. Everything is dangerous in this world, this is so really  Smiley

Yes, it's very dangerous. You could see this if you bought an alternative coin several months ago. At the moment, the price has fallen very much.

Why would it be dangerous ? Invest , traw , hold and sell to make profits if you are down don’t sell and have patience and wait for the market to go up , if you like trading ( I don’t )  do it . Dangerous is not doing anything and holding fiat

If you are confident in a project, holding is the only logical thing to do. Many of these coins will take years to reach full potential.

What are your options? Day trade Crypto? More power to you.

It’s illogical to say “hodling” is bad. That’s what an investment is.

yes it is very dangerous to hold altcoins if you are not adapted to crypto market enough. if you think that you can panic and sell it is not good idea to buy and try to hold any altcoin.

I think if you take into consideration lst 8 months, answer to this question is very easy.
It is very, very dangerous.
Only this year my alt portfolio lost 80%.
But you not lose it till you not sell it, you just have your money put in some of the coins and you need to remember that till you don't change it into money you don't really lost anything, for me it will take some time for market to recover but some prices that we had in past could be hit again in near time.

Last year alts rise a lot. I dont know the average percentage. But when I check coins in the market at year 2013 lots of them dead now (too low ranks). probably new tech coins won them (like peercoin, namecoin, ixcoin etc)

Also we are following new ICO s and most of us expecting too much gain from new coins which are not at the market. If our ICO expectations will happen, when they added to market, current market coins will go down. kind of paradox  Huh

It actually depends on what you are holding. There are altcoins that are worth holding and there are some that are just good for just a short term hold. Not all altcoins survive after a successful ICO, even ICOs who have gathered a lot of funds die too soon due to poor development and marketing strategy. Just make sure to be updated whether if the team is active.

my investment strategy is. i will invest in the top 100 altcoins . i will hold them for about a year. i think it is safe. of course, i will observe them every other month.
I think top 100 altcoins is not a safe investment because day by day market is move to narrow so we should invest top 20 altcoin it is benefit for future journey. My suggestion is better change your strategy, otherwise future investment is little risky for long term relationship.
This year many positive and negative response are comes in the market so be alert in all the situation our investment will dangerous.

And I myself would argue that it's already a risk everyone who invests. If you invest in your own fear and Altcoin when Altcoin is getting crashed. So you should be able to choose a coin that has a team that can develop your coins are becoming increasingly good.

I think bitcoin and altcoin are the same, this coin is not dangerous. this is only a matter of investor interest in which coins have good potential, maybe the coins in 2013 which attracted many investors to die because they have no potential in the future.
jada is dangerous not about the coin but about how you choose the coin, be careful in choosing coins

I do not think that this is dangerous. Yes there is in all its risks, just here to avoid them you need to understand that at the moment the market will not grow quickly and therefore to get your profits you will not have much to wait...

Not actually,if you're going to hold an alts, investigate and research
first before holding . Most holders wins base on my experience,i have huge friends who choose to be a holder than a trader and its more profitable. They gain ×10 from their investment, just take risk and win.

I would not say it is really dangerous because investing in crypto also involves some risk as it is volatile and unpredictable, you do not know what may happen to the coin the next day but if you have potential altcoin with good dev and management team, you can invest and hold term for long term because they will yield goo profit. That is why it is always good to do a research about the coin and know if it is potential for hold before you invest in it.

Even projects with strong devs and existing products got a beating in this market, so unfortunately it's not that easy. I am talking about top notch projects like Hacken, Pundi, Pearl. They lost 90% like many other projects that have nothing more than a whitepaper. But I agree in the long run these will most likely bounce back while the whitepaper one might get discontinued.

It all depends on the altcoins in which you store your savings. It's like playing roulette, if you don't use system analysis. In any case, the strategy for dolgosrok is quite promising, because over the years, the cryptocurrency is only growing so far.

The holding of Ethereum is not a possible danger to the investors due to the fact that the whole market is bleeding in general but just because the frequency of  altcoin correction phases are  high does not mean that it's dangerous to invest in them

not all altcoin as you think, lots of bitcoin from 2013 which have been successful in years now although not all altcoin have to be successful sometimes they have temporary success, maybe you mean altcoin that is not successful because of fact altcoin in 2013 many successful now
means what you mean is a failed altcoin
