Right now there are many ICOs coming out, is it really safe to participate in any of it and spend that much? In participating ICOs I have high hopes that these coins could be the next Bitcoin or other currencies that are really going up in the market.

I think certain level of research must be done on the ICO that you are interested in. Try to search their website, find out more about the crews and founders etc. To better determine if it's a scam.

Participating in ICOs Is risky for people who are inexperienced and don't know how to find a legitimate project as most ICOs today are only scams.
Look for the projects which have a strong development team Which is experienced.
Look for projects which have a unique idea.
Try to find projects which have a working product.
I think all investments have risks not exception to ICO. you can see a lot of investors losing because ico to scam or ico is failing to enter the exchange or fail to run their project or no one uses the product from that ico. there are many possible risks in investing ico dude. therefore every investor is required to do picky on many ico so that they can choose and invest in ico which has good potential and good future..
Yes, with all sort of investment as well business plans the risk accompanies them. One who understands it will be making a better growth. In such a manner investing into ICO's is also an good thing and safe, because till date most of the ICO projects were legit and growing as scheduled.

In every investment there is always risk no matter how legit the ICO is.  But if  we say if it is safe in terms of getting profit from the ICO, I can say there are some that can give us huge profit while some will just eat the value away of our holding because their are just those who use ICO for easy money grab.

First thing first we need to understand that participating in ICO's by investment presents its own risks just like any other investment we run into and I do not believe there is such a thing as safe investment, maybe a low risk investment can be the key word which is likely to come from a company that has an established business running or presents a unique project that will be contributing positively.

Why to doubt on it? CoinMarketcap, Cryptocompare and other ICO sites are updated with current market details of each altcoins. Watch them out and pick the top altcoins, go through their roadmap and whitepapers to understand where to invest and finally get into it.

I would first check who are the team members and what did they do before this project and who are the investors, what did they invest before.

Read carefully what they are offering. If there is a white paper, read it. If everything looks good, it is still not a 100% guarantee it is not a scam.

Look for interesting projects, not 10xxxxx clone of the same thing.

What is a general rule of a thumb is that when the technology/project is still young the scams are pretty simple, while later in the process scammers tend to become more and more skilled, hence take extra caution as Bit/alt coin technology is approaching it's mature stage.

You shouldn't think that investing in ICO's are safe, all types of investments are risky and in ICO's you don't have an idea on many investors will be investing to that project and will support it's crowdfunding. Because there are a lot of scammers that are hiding in the veil of ICO and their very own purpose is just to scam people and they are now into ICO's. Beware of those developers that are leaving the project after the success of ICO.

You are completely right, joining in ICO is similar to joining in IPO, which are both high risk investment, there are different kinds of scams, but the only thing you can do is trying to do more research before joining in.

Investing in ICOs is very good, cause you will get back what you put into the project by the time the tokens are available in exchange sites.  It is better to invest huge into the project, but one has to be careful so as to avoid being scammed by all this ICOs.

I see that determination "investing" will be risky for ever. If you are a luckyman and a wise man fortune will be with you. Participating in ICO can give you big profit but always is a chance to lose all money that you have invested. That can happend not only with inwesting in some cryptocerrency but also some ICO.
So, in my opinion, answer is: NO, its not completely SAFE to participate in ICO. If you can`t take risk just dont invest.
And if you desided to participate - learn almost all about the project.

It is not safe at all. First of all the owner of an ICO can just collect all money of participants and just disappear. The second thing is in the case if the project will not succeed you also will loose all of your investment.
So, if you plan to invest in the ICO read carefully and chose only those one that is going be in demand by your opinion.

Thinking on the higher plane of existence.

Ofcourse not, since it is an investment which is not tangible in any manner. But I guarantee to you that if you invest to the right ICO it would be worth it. I suggest that before investing in any ICO, read their materials and analyze them as much as possible. Make sure that their tokens would be useful in the near future like bitcoin which revolutionize remittance and ethereum which develop smart contract. Atleast the token you invest are like them, with useful characteristics.

It is safe as long as you take proper due diligence, make sure you research what it is you are investing in and keep your wits about you. Be sensible with the amounts you invest and where you invest it and you should do well from it.

Some are reliable, some are scammer. The most important is to find a good project
if you find a good project you can make money in really good quantities
The question is, how you can find a good project between biased profile and background of the developers and the project. Many people above have saying the same thing about how to choose a good project to invest, but unfortunately, not 100% right. Sometimes, a project with legit devs, only leave the coin that they offer and grab their money, they don't care about the future of their coin

It is safe. But the fate of your investments are actually, to a high extent, depending on your proper decision as to which ICOs you will be investing. There are coins and tokens that will immediately double their value as soon as they reach Bittrex or Poloniex. Not to mention the bonus that you will receive during ICOs.

Nowadays there are many ICO's developing in the crypto world. But it is our responsibilty to understand the project and make decision to invest in it or not.As there are no regulations on ICO's it is our own duty to check them for ourselves. It is easy check whether an ICO is good or bad.Just check their whitepaper, team and activity.

It can be safe if you study the everything of a new ICO like study the whitepaper, logic behind the incoming project, is their project sustainable in long run or not. Then price is also a factor. If you do proper research, you can find a good ICO and can participate in that. Some ICO give huge profit in past and some give huge profit in future also if our finding is right.
