I do see value in enforcing rules like those to avoid spam. If 4 hours and 5 posts sounds tough, try other some other forums with tougher rules!

It's not that it's hard, it's just that I don't like to contribute low value posts (including this one) in a subforum in order to get to the higher value posts that I may want to contribute.  But I fully understand the need, to prevent spammers.

Now that I'm out of Newbie status, I'll update and say it's not really that bad as long as you're not super eager to comment on something, such as in the marketplace. Browsing a little at a time over the course of four or five days made it not seem like the requirement was difficult at all.

So hang in there, Newbies. It's not that bad.

nope still a newbie after 4 hours

Have you waited at least 10 minutes?

I see several threads at least made every day about how to get out of newbie status and similar things because of the requirement of being online for at least 4 hours while posting at least 5 posts. I was wondering is it really that hard to get out of newbie status? I mean if you really care, spend 10 minutes and post 5 quick posts and then leave your computer on for 4 hours and refresh say every 15 minutes while staying logged in? I don't get why so many people are worried about sneaking out of newbie status.

And anyway, I can honestly say that once I came out of newbie status, while it was interesting at first and I browsed the other sub forums some, the newbie  sub forum is still the sub forum which I spend the most of my time in compared to the other sub forums.

Why were there even any responses?
