The product is the result of the project. Therefore, the product is definitely one of the most serious areas. If today there is a product and it is developing very successfully, then I think that this project really does have very promising chances.
Sure, I think that product, especially working product, is very important for each ICO project, because it helps to attract the attention to this project.
I think for many startups the funding can be an issue so they may not be able to develop a fully working product but some sort of demo version would suffice. However we cannot forget the actual reason for ICO is to help fund team to make project a reality.

The ideas is this: a product (offline or online) is like a service. I don't totally agree because it is not always the case. I have seen some projects with working products which are still not able to perform and are doing off. The ability to list on a better exchange is what will sustain the project.
