Weather you believe in Jesus as I do or not. A supreme being is needed as well as a set of standards in order for that society to function. It is the way most people are wired. We are comforted by those standards.
I think we can all agree that even without the existence of God and laws, our conscience will always tell that there are some things that when we do it is bad for man as a whole. The so called standards that you are talking about was set up in our mind and hearts not by a deity everyone knows right from wrong even without laws.

Religion always was a means to suppress the weak and poor, aka "yeah your life sucks but you get into heaven".

We all need something to believe in.
it is certainly better to have something we believe in, look up to, or rules we live by.
It comforts us knowing there is right or wrong.
The possibility that there is someone watching over us also gets us through rough days.

Each for himself must find the answer to this question. For some, religion has become just an integral part of his life. Someone does not need religion at all. How many people exist, there are so many opinions.

I have noticed more than once that lately the cult of atheism is beginning to gain weight in society. More and more people are beginning to deny not only the existence of a god, but in general of any force in which others believe.

It actually depends on what you believe in; some find solace in the fact that they is a higher power that governs us, however it may seem to be non-existent. To some people, which belongs the to-see-is-to-believe kind, then it would be hard to argue to them that religion is necessary in their lives. Thus, the importance of religion would be a subjective matter, but I think doing good towards other people and avoiding doing bad things would be more crucial that just blindly following any religion without really putting in practice its doctrines.

Consider this as my own opinion,
religion is not necessary because it will not give true life.
Religion is just exerting effort to be good but it will not change our life totally.

Yes, religion is necessary in today's society. I believe that religion is necessary in today's society. There are so many problems in the world, ranging from violence to the breakdown of the family unit. Morals seem to be nonexistent any more. Our world has become more self-centered; it seems like people have no regard for others. Religion helps us have a moral code and gives us hope in what seems like a lost world.

Religion was a necessary thing in the past; I think today people just need something or someone they can believe in and it doesn't matter whether it would be an invisible guy in the sky or unverse, or bracelet on the arm.

No, it is not. For some people it is an anchor, to get them through bad times (which is not a bad thing). But in general, religion is not needed.

Religion is only needed by the Church. Ordinary people will only suffer. I don't believe in God, but I do not see the difference between the lives of those who believe in God and those who do not believe in him. This is further proof that there is no God.

In my own opinion if it is necessary for us to have a religion, I think it is not necessary. Because for me it does not matter if who are your God or who you are praising and believing. What matters the most is how deep is your faith, love and believe to the one you are praising.

People do not need religion, people need faith. When a person believes in what he wants, then it is much easier for him to live. Religion establishes an outdated framework that prevents development.

Although religion offers plenty of life guidance tips that can help you a lot, today's modern society is taking advantage of it to promote it own bullshit and it does it all for the purpose of money and power. One particular person doesn't need a religion to be fulfilled if he lives his life with accordance to the rules that mostly all religions promote. But the same society doesn't let you live that kind of life and on the other hand, propagates that we need their repulsive religion to succeed in life.

I believe that religion is not needed for people. In religion, there is no such benefit that would lead a person to develop new technologies or cure diseases, religion only takes time.
I would agreed to your statement, religion is not a gateway or open door going to heaven. Sometimes it becomes the reason to make people  do sins , due to the doctrines and sectarian does the church have. But belief in God is very needed not the religion f course.

Well those are good points. If you think about it, if we go down to the essentials, it doesn't require any complicated religious laws to be a good person. Love and respect should be at the core of it and religion sometimes just makes it difficult to love and respect other people.
