God I hope not. I hope it stays just a part of the important factors of an ICO, not the most important ones. Especially during airdrops or other give-aways channels become flooded with retards. They bring nothing to the community (perhaps a tiny percentage at best) and only join for the rewards. Of course it looks like a great accomplishment if you have 80k members in your chat, but if you get only 3 replies when you mention an important milestone you know all you need to know.

I do think it is a good way for short lines of contact, only if it doesn't turn into a childrens playground (which is often te case).

Some things I like:

- Turning off comments (muting) during ICO phase
- Not allowing links and/or pictures/animated gifs
- Strict ban policy on spam
- No speculation
- Not talking about bounty programs

In the recent year, media such as twitter, Facebook and telegraph played a great role in promoting encryption. But a powerful telegram is not a new standard for ICO success.

In my opinion, Telegram is just one more tool and platform for the promotion and advertising. It doesn't give me more trust or reliability in the project. I see it as good PR and social media strategy, but not a guarantee of a project success.

I agree that telegram is one of the main social media for promoting ICOs and some investors really evaluate projects by their telegram groups. What I've learnd from my personal experience, the number of group members doesn't really matter is ICO has an airdrop or bounty campaign. What is more important is the actual activity of users and their unique messages. This statistics really can show the interest to the project amoung investors.
ICOdrops has such a utility on their site to monitor such telegram activity.

Having more telegram participant does not mean the success of particular ICO, I am having many ICOs which are failed even they have more than 10K participants in telegram. Getting thousands of telegram is not big task just go for airdrop people get attracted easily.

I hate the groups that offer telegram bounties as it often gets filled with bots. And then it gets worse if the group has an auto-welcome message! Makes it impossible to get any meaningful communication via telegram that way.

Whilst Telegram is growing in popularity, it is really just another social platform which is great for everyone who uses it, but I don't think it can be used to measure the success of an ICO. I've seen channels which have over 20,000 members - and yes, discussions in a lot of them are great, but there are some where just the same names keep popping up. - a handful in some cases. I don't think the channel boosts token sales -it doesn't harm it - but those who are going to invest, will do their research - white paper, etc.

Been seeing projects' Telegram groups blow up and I think that's an attribute of success. Personally, when I find a project, I do judge them by their social media presence. How active a telegram channel does say a lot with their demand.

With the rise of groups exceeding Telegram's 50k member cap...what do you guys think?

No, I've seen a lot of projects that have 20k or more members and it doesn't translate to the projects success. Lots of the members are bounty hunters and few only are investors. And some projects with only 1k to 5k members really had success because they have quality members who invest in the project.

It is a factor that contributes to my decision when I choose an ICO but ofcourse it's not the only nor the main one.

The project of collecting funds Telegram was very successful, as far as I know Pavel Durov canceled public fees, I can not know for what reason, but I think that now many would like to take part in investing, but we unfortunately do not have such an opportunity.

It can be said that, under certain circumstances, it is very safe and fast! Many projects use Telegram to promote and introduce information!

the fact that the project has a very strong support in social networks, in particular a telegram, is excellent, but I believe that this is not the most important when choosing an ICO project.

Though it is just a social media, telegram connected people all over the world. It helps for the investors and developers to communicate for the welfare of all. I also set telegram as a standard for a successful ICO because yhe more people joined the telegram, the more it will is popular.

Telegram is more and more popular, but I don't see it  as a measure for ICO success. Telegram is free and it is not showing real commitment. The number of investors is what it counts.

I think it is just another tool for traders and developers of the project to communicate and discuss about the project and it's announcement. It is just a way for them to spread the future endeavors and platforms of the ico because most numbers of traders these days chose to join telegram because they find it easier to communicate and get further information about the project.

On the first pages wrote that in telegrams 90% are real people, but it is not so, yesterday read the article as on one pc to have 100 telegram accounts.
the latest statistics showing that telegram users already reach more than 200 millions users but apparently some of telegram users has fake because i have been heard too there is a people have hundred of telegrams accounts but telegram could be good alternative way to promote ICO and i have seen that for every ICO projects telegram campaign looks mandatory

I think it affects, but indirectly. Because sometimes projects pay people for activity in the chat. Although usually it is noticeable. But we must look at everything in the complex. And this is still not a guarantee of success.

Telegram is a reference standard, but most of the time I only care about the discussion of the ICO project in the telegram, if more people talking about the ICO project, means that there are more potential participants, and not a robot.
