There is no doubt that bitcoin's future is in doubt, but it is probably not quite accurate to say that the government won't bother with bitcoin at all. Bitcoin does not see the government as the enemy but the government seems to see bitcoin as the enemy. As long as bitcoin exists, they won't stop messing with it until it disappears, but that's not going to be possible. Bitcoin volatility is not a bad thing sometimes, the stronger the drop, the stronger the upside potential.
Governments had such a monopoly over the currency market that they never thought they will ever be challenged, they beat gold long time ago and the few attempts to create currencies outside of their control were destroyed by them, Satoshi created a superior currency out of nowhere and they are not willing to quit their benefits just because one person had a good idea, however they are realizing that killing bitcoin is not going to be easy and if anything it will be one of the most difficult things they could hope to accomplish.
The threat I guess is taxation. Any currency would do, if I'm not mistaken, as long as the government of that certain country will benefit on its usage but since cryptos are in blockchain, governments are somehow afraid of the tendencies people will avoid taxes which governments believe, will affect country's economy. If ever there will be regulations, years would be needed still for such thing to occur. And if ever regulated cryptos will be the "same" as traditional digital money, that could also affect not only Bitcoin but cryptos in general. So yeah, things are still uncertain. This is just how I view this topic, feel free to correct me, that would be much appreciated.

Perhaps, it was uncertain OP but I and the majority have been positive about it knowing how this project grow and has been tested multiple times in hard times and market attacks. Though it was hard to speculate what might happen 3 years from now, however, I'd just believe that the demand will continue to grow, prices may rise as well as that probably halving has been done and it is possible that we are in a bullish market.
We cannot speculate perfectly but what we understand is that the market will increase in the 3-4 years coming , we are not gonna fail because it happens more than 3x  , since the bitcoin release ? each Halving every 4 years brings best result to the market and there is none that dumps in the coming years.

Although it is a new asset and unpopular with governments, saying it will die is unlikely.
we cannot call this a new asset but a risky one , and this has been proven over the years.
Bitcoin future will be more brighter than it is today, because the founder of Bitcoin know as Satoshi created Bitcoin to eliminate delay and reduce unemployment from the world. Bitcoin will continue dominating among other cryptocurrencies to attract more countries that think Bitcoin will not reach 2025, for them to make it legalized so that they will be part of those countries that will experience massive pumping of Bitcoin in the whole world.  If Bitcoin can prove people that doubted it wrong during the pandemic, I believe, Bitcoin will still prove those that think Bitcoin will not live till 2025 wrong, for them to see Bitcoin continue existing in 2029 in the whole world.
lets see if this will come the soonest because we need to prove the world about bitcoins capacity and service .

What could be the state of Bitcoin in the future?

This is discussed all the time but I am asking this question because my elder brother said that after 2025 Bitcoin will not exist anymore and will be completely dead. He also said that after 2025 Bitcoin will not be mined so that Bitcoin will not be able to hold its own position.

So I would like to know from you how reasonable this statement is?

It really depends on the current status of BTC given that its price is wholly dependent by the use of its users.

No one really knows what will be the current status of BTC, whether its price is going to skyrocket or going to fall further. One of the most important factors that could ruin the price is government and country prohibitions. If in the future, countries would prohibit the utilization of such, then expect its price to fall down in the market. But given the circumstances, I really recommend if you HODL your coins for long-term investment.

As long as Bitcoin is still being used then Bitcoin will always be around, and I doubt Bitcoin will die after 2025. It's true that we don't know
what will happen to Bitcoin in the future, but I am very optimistic that Bitcoin will still be around for decades to come. At least we see progress
in a positive direction, now the popularity of Bitcoin is increasing and also more and more countries are legalizing Bitcoin, even if it is only legalized
as a digital asset. This means that many parties are slowly starting to accept the existence of Bitcoin, and that is a good development for
the future of Bitcoin.

Although it is difficult for us to predict the price of Bitcoin, but if we study the history of  Bitcoin movement it is very clear that Bitcoin always tends
to go up. So we don't have to worry if in a bear market situation like now the Bitcoin price has not recovered. We just need to be patient if we decide
to invest in Bitcoin, because after all Bitcoin is very good for long-term investments. It would be even better if a bear market situation like now
we start collecting Bitcoin, it will make us make big profit from Bitcoin in the future.

Well, I'd respect what your brothers are saying and besides that was his opinion. However, as we take a look at the market and get some pictures of the past, it actually tells us that most (all) of the speculations went wrong, and that is because no one had ever seen what gonna happen next, even today or tomorrow - it was uncertain. Fortunately, we believe that Bitcoin will grow more, prices will rise, and they become a reason why investors have the courage to hold than sell their Bitcoin.

I am not sure that it is what your brother said, it is either you quoted him out of context, or your brother doesn't know about Bitcoin or yourself is a novice in bitcoin. It is possible that the three points could be true same time.

Why did your brother say that after 2025 Bitcoin will cease to exist? Because he said after 2025 Bitcoin will not be mined anymore. Then his only reason for saying that bitcoin will cease to exist is very wrong as bitcoin mining will not stop by 2025.

So, what further thing do we have to discuss?
Though the future is hard to predict, but it is very obvious that bitcoin is not ending anytime. But there would be changes in bitcoin as the technology grows.

For a moment forget that it was your brother who said such... something.

You pay attention to him because he is your brother, but you have to have your own criteria and link it with that of a large majority that finds in bitcoin not only an asset of value, but also a revolutionary economic concept that goes beyond things that day to day are trends with bitcoin as its price or if it will be an effective means of payment, just to name a few.

Bitcoin will continue to be valid as long as there is the will of at least 2 users, exaggerating the idea but so that you understand the point in question.

Although it is a new asset and unpopular with governments, saying it will die is unlikely. With 13 years of development, acceptance and widespread use, I cannot imagine the prospect of bitcoin dying even if the government denies its existence.
Many predict 2025 will be the time when bitcoin hits new ATH, you and your brother should learn about bitcoin now so as not to miss the opportunity to buy bitcoin at a highly discounted price. Your chances will still be in 2025 but it will be much smaller than it is now.

Why are you worried for the government? I mean BTC is made and famous for it’s decentralised nature, that is it cannot controlled by any government. So who gives a damn about what the government thinks.
With P2P trades we can easily convert BTC To cash also and that too under government’s nose.
Coming back to the OP, then let me tell you that either the OP’s brother is fooling him or he just don’t know what is Bitcoins capable of. Bitcoins marketcap proves itself what are Bitcoins capable of and what is it’s future.
The smart people knows what to do and what’s the best with Bitcoins.

maybe we don't know what your brother is thinking, whether he is a psychic, a predictor or indeed your brother does not understand the development of the digital age.

I judge that your brother's speculation is not basic and does not know the current and future development of Bitcoin in 2025, if your brother thinks as you say, I suggest having your brother learn about Bitcoin and its growth, So that he understands the development of Bitcoin in the next 5-10 years.

You have to be more specific. What state are you talking about? Very likely it might become more available to the people and we will be seeing stores accepting bitcoin.

Lol, did you ask your elder brother why he thinks bitcoin will be dead after 2025? Why exactly after 2025? I bet he probably saw one of those FUD videos where some random "professional" was trash talking about bitcoin for some views and likes.

The power of Bitcoin is now so strong to withstand the selling price and purchase, there is no strong reason that in that year Bitcoin will die and begin to be forgotten by people, try to pay attention to the cases that are befalling several countries today, where Bitcoin is linked and experienced negative news throughout Time, but Bitcoin only experiences correction, not with a decrease in prices that are so sharp.

So I think there is no possibility that in that year Bitcoin will just die, but I believe the correction will continue to approach Bitcoin throughout his journey forward

New asset? lol Bitcoin has been here for more than 10 years and this is not a new asset mate instead this is something we  are setting now for our funding like me in which having here for sometime now.
and this is not Unpopular , a simple checking in google engine will show you how popular bitcoin is now.
and this has a certain future and one of the best lol.

I also agree that Bitcoin has been in the market for over 10 years, it's not a short time, so it can't be said to be a new asset. Moreover,
the Bitcoin community is increasing, now almost all residents in the world have at least heard of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. Because now
internet access is easier to get, and most of the people started to spend a lot of their free time to access the internet and interact on social media.
So it's no wonder the popularity of Bitcoin almost increases every year, because information about Bitcoin spreads throughout the world very quickly.

It's no wonder that many people are interested in investing in Bitcoin, even many institutions have started long-term investments in Bitcoin.
More and more countries are legalizing Bitcoin, even though they only legalize Bitcoin as a digital asset. But I believe that with the rapid
development of Bitcoin in the next few years, many countries will legalize Bitcoin as a legal tender. The conclusion is that the future of Bitcoin
can be said to be very bright and has certainty. So don't let us hesitate to invest in Bitcoin, it will only make us regret later. Because with
a limited supply of Bitcoin in the future the price of Bitcoin will be very expensive.

What could be the state of Bitcoin in the future?

No body knows, we can speculate but that's it.  Nothing is certain until it happens.

This is discussed all the time but I am asking this question because my elder brother said that after 2025 Bitcoin will not exist anymore and will be completely dead. He also said that after 2025 Bitcoin will not be mined so that Bitcoin will not be able to hold its own position.

Who is your elder brother?  Is he the authority behind Bitcoin?  Does he have some 6th sense that can foretell the future?  If not then better to ignore him.  Do your own research and see how deeply rooted Bitcoin Industry is in a global view.

So I would like to know from you how reasonable this statement is?

Your brother's forecast regarding bitcoins is unfounded.  You should have jot down the reasons why your brother told you so.  Else there is nothing to to talk about because your brother's statement is nonsense at all.

I know that there could be falls here and there on bitcoin, but the bottom we have seen here is the peak we saw in 2017 so it shouldn't be that shocking to think that bitcoin will go up over time. Like for example we will have a huge increase now after this drop, whatever the price becomes, 100k, 200k, don't know really but when we have another drop, it will be once again around 50k+ when it "drops", and that would be the key to our success.

If you buy at the top of a period, you will still be profitable on the bottom of the next. Just keep doing that and you will be making a huge amount of profit, only if you buy it.

If you know that btc is volatile then you should say that btc is uncertain and not certain but 2025 is too early to say that btc will now be gone. Even me that believe btc is uncertain won't also believe on it. You said that btc is not disturbed by the government? I think that was not true because there are countries where btc and btc mining is banned. This affects the price of btc or the adoption.

Also, volatility and uncertainty are I think not the same. Volatility is the one that makes btc interesting as this is where traders and investors earn an income, not uncertainty because when you say uncertainty it can mean that btc can disappear.
