I understand where your brothers remarks come from because I had the same belief.
It's totally outdated though.

The reasoning back around 2014 was that mining would cease around 2025.
When mining ceases then transactions don't get processed and the network won't function.

What we have learned is that Bitcoin mining will still exist until 2140.
Mining hardware has become a dedicated cutting edge business so we see the growth curves.
Bitcoin and other crypto have adapted through hard forks and Layer2 addons, so even a big problem can get fixed.
The Bitcoin network is attracting businesses, big brains and big money so it's proven safe technology.

What could be the state of Bitcoin in the future?

This is discussed all the time but I am asking this question because my elder brother said that after 2025 Bitcoin will not exist anymore and will be completely dead. He also said that after 2025 Bitcoin will not be mined so that Bitcoin will not be able to hold its own position.

So I would like to know from you how reasonable this statement is?
I think that my first question is what kind of expertise your brother has when it comes to bitcoin and this market in general? I ask this because while he is your brother and you take into account his opinion the truth is the opinion of someone is only worth as much as the facts that are behind his words.

Tell me, did he show you any evidence to back up his claims? Because those are pretty big claims don't you think? To think that a project that is so huge is simply going to disappear in a matter of three years when it has resisted economic crises, a pandemic, inflation and a war doesn't really makes much sense, so something extraordinary should happen during the next three years in order for what your brother claims to become true, and I simply don't believe that is going to be the case.

Say it's bullshit, you can't fully believe that it will happen to bitcoin in 2025. Bitcoin will still be mined to max supply, but until then we don't really know what will happen. But for sure, I think bitcoin will still be traded and this investment will last longer.

Do everything for what you can risk. So don't be too greedy even if you believe it is profitable as you see it now or what others have experienced so far. Bitcoin for the long term, it should be a true investment for you and others but don't ignore the risk.

Your brother must lack the information or he simply does not know what he's talking about. If you came to research, you will know that bitcoin has a lot in store for 2025. Aside from predicting that its price will be over $100k at that time, it will also gain more adoption from big countries. So if those things will be realized gradually, then what's the reason for bitcoin to be completely dead? The more years that comes, expect that the price of bitcoin will eventually grow and make a lot of progress.

Is he a fiat enthusiast? Because those who always say that are totally in opposition to bitcoin. But as a friendly advice, have your own research so you will know more about bitcoin. Bitcoin has always its uncertain future just like us because we even don't know what holds in the future. But one thing is certain, bitcoin will not die easily especially that bitcoin is already backed by big institutions and big countries. Although it has its own flaws that are always inevitable, but as long as the demand from the community is still there, bitcoin recovers and skyrocket again.

I think it was "always" uncertain but at the same time its getting a bit better in the long run. This is of course not something bad because we do not need to understand if it is doing badly or doing greatly before we invest, because we just need to trust it. I believe that in the long run we are going to see it go up, and thats enough and there isn't anything good that could come up from thinking bitcoin will do something horrible, it will be decent. Hence, I believe that we should be just trusting it because thats literally all the possible outcome that would help us, why wouldn't we trust it in that case? What good would saying "its going to be bad" for any of us?

I don't know if what event btc will have on 2025 but I know that there was a halving on 2024. The price can surely dumped after that but that is not enough for bitcoin to die. Also it was not 2025 when the mining will stop or the whole bitcoins will be mined but according to google it's on 2140, when all the 21 million supply have all been mined out but after that I think, bitcoin can still hold on to its position. It will still be the number one crypto.

The state of bitcoin in the future is still unknown though because none of us here have the ability to see the future or to travel on it, not even your elder brother so don't believe on what he was saying.

From what i understand for cryptocurrency the state of cryptocurrency in the future is not something that we can predict to know the value actually. The values of cryptocurrency is something we can not predict correct to know the next values of cryptocurrency in the next five years. With the current values of cryptocurrency now. But the state whereby people is coming in into cryptocurrency market and industrial firms is what will state the  future of cryptocurrency as i can see.

we never know what will happen in the future, technology is developing very rapidly, bitcoin is one example of the result of a technology that is very important for now. many of the results of a technology that develops in the end cannot survive because along with the changing times, the technology itself is abandoned.
maybe if this world is no longer energyless maybe bitcoin will disappear but I think it's very unlikely that will happen.

This only proves that your brother is really foolish and giving free advice without any knowledge.
Just ask your brother to surf the internet and search about Bitcoin’s marketcap. That is enough to prove what Bitcoins are capable of.
These are the persons who pass negative comments when the price falls down. And when the price again starts to gain, they will be the ones who will change the mood and be a completely Bitcoin Follower.
In short the OP’s brother is really sick and needs to stop predicting like astronomous.

Your brother probably doesn't know anything about bitcoin. If saying bitcoin is dying this is more accurate time, bear market is happening and bitcoin is correcting very low against ATH and many people are saying bitcoin is dying and will go to zero soon. Ee are waiting for 2025, at which time our target for bitcoin will be $100k and your brother should say bitcoin bubble will burst in 2025, instead of saying it will die by 2025.  Cheesy Cheesy

1 year on the forum and you trust your brother more than your Bitcoin brothers and sisters Shocked

The next time you talk to your brother, tell him that Bitcoin no longer exists because some super virus attacked it and destroyed it - you will save yourself a lot of time in the future on useless conversations that lead nowhere. When someone makes such a claim despite all available information, then any further discussion with such a person is redundant.

What do you think your brother will say to you in 2025? Bitcoin will not exist in 2030...

my elder brother said that after 2025 Bitcoin will not exist anymore and will be completely dead.

if you look at the media over the past 13 years you can see that people have been repeating this same FUD from early years. they just change the death year. at some point they said when reward halves from 50 to 25 it will die but bitcoin is still alive and getting stronger even though reward is 6.25!!!
The future of bitcoin is not easy to predict, but looking at the conditions and progress of the future, of course crypto, especially bitcoin will get a place as one of the global currencies, crypto or bitcoin so far is a form of technological development in terms of finance and I think in the future crypto will continue to grow rapidly, I do not agree with the view that bitcoin will die in the future because I think the modern world community will not be able to resist a technological advance.

It is full of uncertainties and doubts especially if we are negative people as we already think it dies.
Those who come and understand the situation will likely not talk about what will happen in the future but rather hear from them saying "this investment will grow and was beneficial to the community". They are very certain because they trusted Bitcoin.

Just wait for that time OP before making assumptions as it can be just wrong...

So I would like to know from you how reasonable this statement is?

It's completely unreasonable. It is a mix of misunderstanding and wrong information.
Bitcoin block rewards will become 0 only in about 2140. And even then, mining should not stop since the miners also receive the transaction fees (they receive those now too!)

So the year is wrong, the mining/block reward is misunderstood, hence 2025 is just a random date. And it's so close, the chances Bitcoin die off this fast are small.

Technically, the last bitcoin that is going to be mined is around 2140, so we won't see that even in our lifetime.

If you want to find out how many times bitcoin supposedly die, you can check it out here: https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries/

In 2024, we will have a bitcoin halving event, you can research about it, but I will tell you that it's one catalyst to bring the market into another bull run, so if that happens then bitcoin is not going to die on 2025.

bitcoin is the future. almost every country is accepting bitcoin & try to regulate cryptocurrency. few country already accepting bitcoin as a legal tender. so if all government accept it, i think there is No reason to worry . bitcoin is the future blockchain is the future .

Yes bitcoin can be said to be our future and can change our economy too, even though bitcoin is currently down, but I'm still sure that after 2022 bitcoin will come back again to rise like what happened in 2021.
Many of them are giving up at this time and even negative thoughts arise about bitcoin's life because they see bitcoin's currently depressed position, they seem to have doubts about bitcoin's development in the future.

What your brother needs to do is put his money where his mouth is and bet short against bitcoin. If he is right he can make a lot of money. But something tells me he's not going to do it. There are a lot of loudmouths who take advantage of bear markets like this one to talk about the death of bitcoin, and we already know that bitcoin has died many times already:
