Global chess game being played by US and Russia.

It is very clear that US is using European countries to do its containment strategy against Russia. And Russia is subsidizing China energy price to attack US economically.

If the game keep going, it will eventually turn into a full blown warfare with US losing badly because of long logistic line.

Nobody wants a war with Russia, not even Russia itself.
Conquer Russia for what end? It doesn't have anything to offer to the conquerer and you would have to deal with the Russian people, most likely to turn into terrorists, afterwards.
The allies of Russia, in open warfare, are good for nothing. Persians can be a bone hard to chew, but the Chinese in warfare aren't that bright, they are more kin to intellectual development than fighting (even if kung-fu is good for movies and as exercise).

Economic wars will happen all the way, but that's even interesting to watch. A life without a struggle for something is really dull! But no need or wish for open warfare.

After WW2, military confrontations between the USA and the USSR (now Russia) have been led through proxy wars. The last attempt at such a war was made in Georgia, but this country happened to be an easy target for Russia (despite their bravado of having the strongest army in the ex-USSR and the alleged U.S. support), now we have Ukraine as the next victim of such a war. So nothing has really changed since after the end of WW2, which boils down to avoiding direct confrontation at all means.

WW1 tragedy reminder of the dangers of excessive ambitions - Putin
http://rt.com/news/177300-putin-world-war-ambitions/

Quote
The tragedy of WWI reminds us what excessive ambitions, an unwillingness to listen to each other and violations of liberties lead to, Russian President said. He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the memorial to the Heroes of the WWI in Moscow.

Sorry, but the invention of that sort of terrorism, the only kind that makes some sense, was Rashid ad-Din Sinan.
He had the idea that it was worthless to kill armies if all you need to end a war is to kill its leader. His story is used as motto to the first Assassin's Creed game.

Terrorism was actually invented in Russia. If somebody is afraid of muslim terrorists then he need to read some info about "The People's Will" party, for example. Muslim terrorists are innocent children in comparison with these guys. They've successfully assassinated many actually great people like emperor Alexander II and prime minister Peter Stolypin. Obama's assasination is only a matter of time in case of real aggression.

Russia and their Belarus cronies have been restricting meat imports since 2013, based on trumped-up charges of African swine flu.
If one side uses trumped-up charges then another side will do the same, I'd say it's am obvios response. Just like EU and their cronies have been restricting milk production imports, due to trumped-up charge for contamination with cesium-137 and strontium-90. While in fact, the Belarusian milk has almost 4 times less strontium-supplied radioactivity in comparison with Polish or Lithuanian production.

It doesn't make much sense to play fair when your "partners" break their own rules or change them along the way. And then they even have the the audacity to come whining about the same tactics used against them as being "unfair".
blahblahblah thinks otherwise. Maybe it's a result of strontium-90 consumption. Grin

'Let's sanction Russia!'
http://rt.com/op-edge/176984-sanctions-russia-ukraine-gaza-conflict/
Neil Clark is a journalist, writer and broadcaster.

Quote
Israel shells a UN school in Gaza killing 15. It's the sixth time a UN school has been struck.

'Children, women and men killed & injured as they slept in a place where they should have been safe and protected. They were not. Intolerable', says Pierre Krahenbuhl, commissioner general of UNRWA.

Overall, almost 1,400 people have been killed in Gaza by Israeli forces with missiles and military equipment supplied by the US. After the latest UN school attack, it was announced that the US will send more ammunition to Israel. The conclusion is: “Let’s sanction Russia!”

WW1 = Loss
WW2 = Loss
WW3 = ?

Maybe 3rd times the charm?

The "problem" with the previous 2 was that Germany was fighting at the East and West fronts at the same time. Now with EU it can focus at a single side and Idk if Kim Jong-un can defend N.Korea from Germany...

It seems that we, the common humans, cannot do much anything about it.
They can follow Snowden's way because they have migration option. Join one of non-aggressor nations and stay away of conflict.

P.S. BTW, Snowden submitted a request for political asylum yesterday.

You are on to something there, alas. It seems that we, the common humans, cannot do much anything about it. If a couple of elderly men decide that millions of young men should die, then die they will.

And the Germans are starting to become fearful:
Putin-Vertrauter: „Es wird Krieg in Europa geben“
Putin's confidant: "There will be war in Europe"

HMMMM. And who do you think the frightened Germans will side with?

As the history of the last 100 years shows, it doesn't really matter which side they are on, since in any case they will turn out to have been beaten in the end.
