When someone says he cannot stop gambling, he must realize that he needs to exercise self-control or self-control so that he can determine when he should stop gambling. A person cannot continue gambling while his remaining money is almost gone. If he can control himself well, he can stop immediately without waiting for his money to run out. Casinos do not force someone to continue gambling and even deposit more money because it is up to us to control it ourselves. If we don't want to lose more money, we should be able to stop gambling or we don't need to gamble because no one forces us to gamble. We don't need to follow what other people do just because they can win some money from gambling.

Those who have difficulty stopping gambling need to examine themselves as to why they say they can't stop. It is a mistake if they say that because they have never experienced other people or tried to learn self-control-related things. And they better quickly learn self-control before they get too deep into gambling. And try to take a break for a few days to calm down before starting to gamble again.

Happy Christmas to all gamblers. I have been reading some threads and comments that many people have been saying that they find it very difficult to stop gambling (not only gambling addicts), but on one hand, I really think that it is not hard to quit gambling even when you are winning and not winning, but it is you who can't control yourself. Bets can not force one to stake, but a gambler can force themselves to stake a bet, even when he or she does not have money to bet. Some gamblers did not learn how to gamble. They just see themselves doing it, but they can't stop it. Why because they can't control themselves, even when they are not an addicted gambler?
What do we have to say about this?
I am not sure you have experienced any form of addiction because if you have I don't think you will just come up with this post. The post looks like gambling addiction could be easily overcome but maybe these individuals just choose to be addicted. I don't think any addict is happy about his inability to control his gambling activities. Most people are adopting several strategies to reduce the rate of gambling but it has not been fruitful. I can tell you that addicts are going through alot and it is not easy to break free from a behavior that you are used to. You will always have that strong desire or drive to gamble even when you have vowed never to gamble again.

But I share the same view that winning addiction depends more on you than anyone else. We need to develop a strong desire to overcome gambling addiction and do everything possible to avoid over gambling. We can achieve much by having a gambling budget, avoiding friends or activities that motivates us to gamble uncontrollably and we could also seek the guidance of a addiction therapist if we need more help..

Winning or losing is not the main factor in someone who cannot stop gambling activities but because there is no control that can be established while gambling.
Management also really helps someone to stop gambling because by managing money and time gambler can determine when it is time to stop and leave the casino.
Without good management in managing the money and time used in gambling, it will be very difficult for anyone to stop gambling. Management is also included in control.
Plus, having responsible attitude will be very helpful in efforts to limit the time spent on each gambling session.
We know that there are not many gamblers who can do it, but if you don't start or don't try it from the start then the result will be the same where you will never be able to control yourself from any gambling activity.
They must be able to learn and start because as time goes by there is nothing difficult to do, even if it is to stop gambling, and they also have to think that there is still tomorrow that they can use when they want to play and bet.

I have lost a lot of money playing Blackjack and made some profits but I continue to play it. I play it by borrowing money from friends when needed but now try to play with a limit.  When making a deposit I try to keep it between $10-15 and never more.  In this I think I avoid facing big losses. I have not quit gambling till now but I keep myself in control and invest only as much as I can afford to lose. I love playing Blackjack so much I don't know if it's my addiction or I just love it and enjoy it.

The reason active gamblers cannot stop the desire to gamble is because they are unable to control or regulate emotions in the part of the brain that always drives the desire to gamble. When the brain starts releasing Dopamine, a person will start to get stimulated and immediately want to play again even if they have to take out a loan to play. This cannot be completely called a habit, when you start to become addicted, anything that can make you feel satisfied and happy after doing it will continue to be done repeatedly. When you are addicted, it will be very difficult to avoid it. You need to go to another area where it may be difficult for you to find a gambling place or come to a rehabilitation center to help you get rid of this habit slowly.

What do we have to say about this?
It is easier said than done, and I want you to know that we are not made the same way, if you think we are, then you are deceiving yourself or just overbearing because you feel that way. You might have that strong mind, but others don't, and if you don't know, it is a gift if you do, but that doesn't mean you should be measuring others' mental strength with yours, you will be making a whole lot of mistakes if you continue to do that. Mind you, those who have weak minds might have better strength than you elsewhere, only that they are just weak there. I added this for you to know that they are not totally useless, that is just the way they were made.

This is why I respect individuals as I sense and relate with them, but only encourage where I can and make sure that I guide them to knowing and following the right path. I have a strong mind, which makes me make my decisions and abide by them, but to some people, what they say they don't want to do is what they will keep doing and when they are addicted already, there is little anyone can do about it. Gambling might look simple to you as what you can do and quit easily, but to some, it starts as a hobby which will graduate to something else uncontrolled, and they get addicted over time. To control such takes strong determination or external help, or both.

Control over yourself is necessary to protect yourself from gambling or any other addiction.  If one does not have control over himself, he cannot progress in anything.  He cannot be successful in life. Also he doesn't have a target and even then he can't keep his mind set to reach his target and loses confidence in himself. Because of this, first of all, he needs to control himself, then he can protect himself from all other bad addictions including gambling and can bring himself back.

If people really wanted to stop gambling, they'd be the ones who will recognize that they have a problem and do something about it. The first step in breaking free from the curse of addiction is to realize that you have a problem and doing some baby steps to curb it. You need not go to a professional for intervention the first time around, but that will certainly help.

The thing with gambling is that it offers a lot of rewards to the common gambler. While most of the time gamblers face losses, the promises of jackpot and huge wins are what keep gamblers grinding for more up to the point that it no longer is healthy for their own minds. Like any other hobbies out there, gambling offers pleasure to your brain, and if it becomes uncontrollable, it's hard to break free. The only thing that you should do is to realize that you're in too deep and try to limit your budget and hours for gambling. Start small, and eventually go for more 'daring' numbers until you take it off your system. It's not a one-time process, and consistent efforts are needed to remove it completely from your life.

What do we have to say about this?

For someone who is addicted to gambling, it will be very difficult to get out of the circle. Winning or losing is not a problem because despite winning, gambling addicts will continue to bet to find another victory because he feels very dissatisfied. Therefore, it is needed in the right way so that addicts can escape from the gambling circle. First, addicts must be introspective and gracefully accept the fact that he is a gambling addict. Because at first the addict can be trapped in the stage of rejection so that emotional chaos will be very common today. The period in which gambling addicts rationally recognize that gambling destroys his life. While the other side of addicts actually really needs to join gambling with a stronger intensity. Second, avoid remembering the previous period of victory and began to rise again from problems caused by gambling addiction by gathering the current situation.
To recover from gambling addiction, it is important for gambling addicts to understand the reasons why gambling so that it will be easier to increase a sense of loss. Gambling addicts must also tell about his addiction to friends or family members who are trusted. Because gathering the right support will greatly help strengthen and strengthen the existence of a rational side so that it can kill the desire to continue gambling that might arise at any time.
Block all access for addicts to get to all types of gambling that make it addicted. CLOSE Total all access to all forms of gambling, so that addicts will be able to end their habits confirmed by their trusted people. But, closing access to gambling sources will not immediately eliminate the desire to gamble for addicts. That's the same as trying to beat other addiction. If addiction is increasingly unbearable, it will cause stress, depression. Like drug addicts who become insensitive to the drugs he wears. The same things as gambling addicts also often have difficulty preventing the sensation obtained properly when they first bet to win the money.

Well, I can't say nothing about it. Why? because it's their money, their life, and their problem. They are matured enough to know what kind of problem they are about to get through and if they are already in that sh*thole, I think they are pretty much matured enough to think of ways how to fix it. Gambling may be hard to control for some people, but we can't do nothing about it, even if we do act like we care for them and gave them bunch of advices if they themselves doesn't want to change how they perceived gambling, then again we can't do nothing about it.
Now, you think quitting is not hard to do, well maybe because you're not really into gambling so it's not really hard for you to do it. If you are a smoker, think of it about quitting and tell me it's as easy as you think like quitting gambling.

No offense, but I believe you may be downplaying or underestimating the power gambling can have over the behavior or others. You are a person who you do not consider to get easily hooked on some gambling games or betting, then I would say you are quite fortunate for it.
If someone is not addicted to gambling or does not consider themselves to be addicted, but still they believe they cannot stop gambling in a certain session, then one must wonder whether that person is going through the first steps of gambling addiction or not.
It is a behavioral disorder, does not have as much to do with will power as some may assume it does, there is science on how one becomes addicted to gambling and how one is supposed to quit for good, or moderate the amount of money wagered in a single session.

By the way, learning to gamble is not a thing, anyone can gamble and games are actually designed for anyone to gamble with the mininum of knowledge of what is going on (there are few exceptions though), I believe you meant "bankroll management" instead.

I agree with your general thought, but you phrased your post a little bit weirdly. I don't think anyone would argue that casinos/gambling sites are forcing them to make bets against their will. So you're essentially stating the obvious - people who consider themselves addicted, don't feel like they have control over it.
But I think the "lack of control" over one's actions is mostly an excuse. We are more than animals driven by instincts, everyone has the ability to develop self-discipline and take back control over their lives, even if it can be hard sometimes.

Merry Christmas to all gamblers too. I believe that those who can no longer control themselves when it comes to gambling, we can call them addicts. Because for me, if you always lose gambling but you keep gambling, that's not normal, your gambling money will only run out if you continue. You no longer have self control which means you are addicted to gambling.

I mean for sure if you can't stop gambling or you are addicted to gambling the problem for sure if you, that it would probably take a lot more discipline, and commitment whatsoever if you really want to stop gambling if you are a gambling addict. What I mean is we all want to stop gambling if it is already passing our limits and if already affecting our lives, but if you are an addict it is a little different since if you ask if he wants to stop gambling for sure what he is going to say is he want to stop gambling but he just can't, similar to other addicts like smoking, drugs, etc.

Addiction is not just something that you could stop if you think about it and then just decide you doesnt want to gamble anymore, you still gonna end up doing it. What some do is slowly gain control over their addiction, like probably slowly decrease their playtime until they dont want to play at all, do other things that are going to distract them, no points that are triggering them to gamble something like that.

Anyway, gambling is not bad as long as you do it on your limits, etc. so gamble responsibly and moderately.

I've never been an extreme betting addict. I always thought I was betting in a controlled way. However, if I was an extreme betting addict and I was happy about it, I would never try to change myself. So, I think there may be people who we think are extremely addicted, but just because they are extremely addicted doesn't mean they are unhappy. A person should behave how they feel happy. When other people are making comments about them, they should respect their choices and their life. We set boundaries for ourselves and we say we are happy, but our boundaries can be a misery for someone else.

Every addiction causes serious harm but there are some addictions that cause people to lose control. Gambling is just as deadly an addiction. Loss of control means that he has become so engrossed in gambling that he does not consider any of his surroundings to be so important in gambling. This is called emotional addiction, when there is a tendency to be emotionally attracted to something, he loses all control within himself. But an experienced gambler never gets himself so involved in gambling that he can't get out later or lose control. An experienced gambler always controls himself and then gets addicted to gambling.

OP it is not at easy as you think, if overcoming addicted to something is much easier I think we wouldn’t be having to consult Counselors or therapist to actually help. Everyone has a way they deal with stuffs for some People once they get into something it is hard for them to get out and this addiction is as a result of their expectations from that stuff.

Most people that start gambling start it on a wrong foot which is they believe they easily become rich from, rather than treating it as a game and if it doesn’t happen they stick to betting or gambling and then the addiction sets in. For some people at some point they identify the danger easily and back out but for some they can’t which is why we are created different

Everything is based on emotions though, but there are gamblers that can control themselves, maybe they have a budget or just playing for fun. So they don't count as addicted gamblers. I don't know if you gamble though or not, because most of the time we give advises base on our experience.

But if you haven't gone through the process, you wouldn't understand what gambling addiction means or what is gambling per se.

Maybe you try it yourself and see how you can "control" yourself.

Gamblers who cannot control themselves every time they play can be categorized as addicted gamblers, and they will continue to look for ways to continue gambling even though they continuously experience losses.
In contrast to those who gamble for fun, they gamble with full awareness, making it easier for them to control themselves when playing, and besides that, they play with sufficient capital. And when their capital runs out they will stop, likewise when they are winning they will stop to get a full win.
And gamblers who only think of it as fun will easily stop if there is a desire to stop compared to those who are already addicted. So it is very important for us when gambling to do it with full awareness so that we can control the game, not the game controlling us.

do you understand what the term ADDICTION means?.. I guess you don't cus you won't be writing all this incongruous words... Why do you think a sane person that hustles hard to make ends meet can't leave a particular attitude even when it involves spending the same money they've been struggling to have??? Does that look forceful to you?
