I was standing outside of 20Mission tonight talking with Jered Kenna when we were informed by a random woman passing by that “Bitcoin is hacked and dead”. - Kraken CEO
I am hearing from a lot of people that they heard Bitcoin is dead. The general public seems to think this is true.
What a golden opportunity!
Luke, if you've got some Marketing Plan - this is the time to execute, the Giant has fallen, Bitcoin is on its knees, what better time to introduce a perfect replacement, an exact Bitcoin Twin, to the world, than when most think Bitcoin is dead?
We have to move quickly on this if we're gonna move at all.
Not sure if this is the only opportunity, but it is one we should grab with both hands as a community. Although getting everything ready will take days. Which with this much information getting spammed by the hour, is too late.
Hi. I doubt the general public think Bitcoin is dead. I've been following articles around the world and whilst most of them refer to the lost or stolen funds and failure of Mt. Gox it has given leaders in the Bitcoin community a chance to explain the situation and give Bitcoin context. Whilst it gave those who seek Bitcoin's demise a chance to use recent events to feed their scare tactics of Bitcoin is dead or the Bubble is bursting etc much of the journalism is neutral and isn't slanted against Bitcoin.
I believe it is for the above reasons that the price of Bitcoin has recovered to USD$580 level despite three full days of heavy media coverage including mainstream media. This issue won't hurt Bitcoin's brand it will help it. It gives Bitcoin and those promoting it additional exposure. More and more people will search it in Google to learn more about it due to this media frenzy. Most of what people will find is positive information not negative.
It is time that the website gets finished and
www.ixcoin.co is setup and we capture this additional traffic and interest.
Regards, Luke.
