But yes, it would be nice to have a legit site like the new and improved Bitcoin.com.  I would gladly pay for one myself if ixCoin ever takes off.  It's impossible to get anything done without proper funding and it seems nobody is willing to help out.  I have single handedly outspent all of our partners combined who together are probably worth well over a billion dollars.

If you can manage the website (i.e. free labor) then the cost is minimal.  It's less than $100 per year to keep a domain ($10-$20/yr) and web host ($50-$80) running.  I can donate toward that if you or someone in the community will manage the website itself.  This is something we need to do ourselves.  Our big partners aren't going to do it.

An easier option is to buy Friction's website so a new site doesn't have to be designed from scratch, but it's a one time acquisition.  Did he ever give you a price?

Speaking of iXcoin.com, chalk that up to another strange event surrounding IXC, but we can now add iXcoin.us and iXcoin.xyz to our options list.

Now we just need some money to actually make them pretty [and functional].

It would be great if ixcoin had a website like bitcoin.com.

Hmmm, who owns ixcoin.com?

I researched this a while ago and I remember ixCoin.com being some lame site with no real products or services which looked very much like a place holder than anything else.  But I don't know who actually owns it.

Now I did a search and iXCoin.com won't come up AT ALL.  Not even in a google search which is crazy cause any registered domain should come up.

Riddle me that!

About iXcoin.org.

You guys don't think it's strange the iXcoin.org domain was actually paid almost 2 months ago yet it still shows unpaid?

The intentional "dark-horse effect" of IXC continues.

Wow, it's unanimous - we will keep the same name and symbol.

I really didn't expect that since there is something cool about going to X.

It's also great news cause I don't have to throw my new Mr. IXC license plates away.  Haha.

I'm really glad so many people gave their input - we need this kind of community involvement.

We really need to get the latest stable client on what ever iXcoin website we are going to use as our home site.

ixcoin.co is the only website I see at this time and it's still telling users that 0.3.24.3 is the latest stable client, and 0.8.6 is still in testing.  "This implementation is still undergoing testing.  Please use with extreme caution."
http://www.ixcoin.co/?page_id=21

There's no mention of any 0.9.x clients.

P.S. Keep the name the same.  iXcoin all the way!!!

Did Frictionlesscoins sell the .co website? If not, then at this point in time it would make the most sense to buy.

Community todo list.

1. Get website, update with updates
2. Get pools to update with updates and update us on their updates.
3. Profit.  Grin

afaik f2 was running current 9.x ix code, however cex was not,

f2 stopped since 'someone' sent several transactions with a large number of inputs creating blocks larger than 750k which the 3.x codebase could not handle

i examined the history of this in the block crawler and other ways and cannot tell if the attack was deliberate (doubtful) or just someone moving coins with an old client since the older clients (pre qt) used input/output addresses quite differently than the newer codebases

last i heard cex has it on the agenda to update the ix code not sure when it will be complete

once they complete this hopefully f2 will fire up ix again,

a friend and mentor of mine bluedragon747 once told me "when you mine for gold you would be foolish not to take out silver, tin, or anything else there even if of marginal value"

i.e. while mining , mine it all !!

Merged mining allows this and I can only hope the larger pools will consider this analogy which I find as common sense for the future , indeed if the performance hit is small why not merge mine everything

Hi Cin,
Is it possible to use your great personality and skills to convince F2pool to update iXcoin?
Thanks

i agree with markm, vlad, terpin, changing the name is nothing I can support in any way.

if someone feels new logos or graphics are necessary , maybe not such a big deal,

I am certainly not a marketing expert,

if history has taught us anything the success of doge coin shows you can launch a coin with an out dated codebase, poor/unfair reward system, bad security (although it is certainly better now) and with the right push in the media  by certain people it can become very popular and an overnight sensation.

Therefore a coin with actual technology advantages over almost all others should be successful with the right push.

I talked to Michael Terpin since he's the expert and the marketing guru and he agrees with everyone here.

Keep the symbol IXC and use I the way Thomas has selected and the way we've been using it all this time.

Ok, so that takes care of that.

[my riddle thread is safe]. Hahaha.

Changing the name seems like a stupid idea.

Its also not trivial, the name is riddled through scripts and documents all over the place.

Also if it is changed, some other coin will take the name, making the scripts etc even more confused.

Symbols aren't limited to Roman alphabet are they? I thought most use international font characters, so as to have various embeillishments like lines crossing them? I thought an I with one or two diagonal lines across it had already been selected long ago?

In few words:

Stay with "i".

and yes, it s : "...more confusing and unnecessary?..."

One more issue is that we need a 1 letter currency symbol for daily use.

For example BTC/XBT has B.

So iXcoin whether it's IXC/XIC/XIX or whatever still needs a one letter symbol for daily use.

The most obvious is X.  I say we take it ASAP cause our wallets start with X and it's a good letter to use marketing wise on many levels.

So then we would have iXcoin with trade symbol XIX and currency symbol of X.

Is that better than what we have now or more confusing and unnecessary?

Thomas Nasakioto was very partial to using i so please give your input on this matter as well.  I is also a great letter to use so we can stay with that.

Why change the name though? A quick search shows there was a failed coin called xicoin already and a coin called xcoin was also released.

We don't need to re-brand we need to increase user confidence. Developing a mobile wallet and re-opening ixcoin.xyz domains seem most urgent to me.

Ixcoin>Xicoin>Xcoin

This has been my argument all along when others pushed for a name change so I agree.  But if we can't gain traction then I'm willing to at least listen to other options but I too would prefer no changes unless absolutely necessary.  Thanks for your input - this is what we need.

Someone is proposing XIX.

And dropping the word Coin so the name and symbol are both the same, XIX.

Edit:  Correction.  The proposed symbol XIX is just for the currency symbol, the name is to remain the same:  iXcoin.  So IXC --> XIX.  BTW:  This would kill my riddle thread.  haha.

Important:  Name-Change.

This matter keeps coming up so we need to address it now.  Changing the name in order to do a proper relaunch and get rid of any bad history regarding the premine.  We will also fix the premine issue, of course.

But this is gonna be tricky cause we don't want to change the name so much that we eliminate iXcoin's history completely - one of its biggest advantages is the fact it's a 5 year old BlockChain.  That legacy has to remain intact and it has to be easily recognizable at first glance so then the new name has to be very similar to the old name which does complicate things.

Just look at Dark - they rebranded to Dash.  Similar but very different and I think a smart move on their [CIA's] part.   Wink

So let's get some ideas from the community regarding what the new name should be.

I have two personal preferences I'd like to throw in the ring:  XCoin and XiCoin.

These two names fit the criteria - different enough but close enough to retain the legacy of iXCoin.

Please give your input as we need to get this done soon.

Finally:  Any new name has to be approved by Thomas Nasakioto or it's DOA.  He's a reasonable, rational man so i think if we find a name which retains the history and legacy of IXC then he will gladly give his approval.

Since IxCoin is merge mined, wouldn't surpassing Bitcoin's hash require a fork to re-separate mining?

I'm not a techie but I'm pretty sure if a pool wanted to mine just IXC they could.  Of course this would be an unbelievable feat since that would mean someone would knowingly not mine Bitcoin which would be a massive sacrifice for any pool.  The only way I can imagine this happening is if we could get someone to truly champion the iXCoin cause so much so that they would be willing to forfeit Bitcoin profits for the sake of making a statement.

Again, this is a highly unlikely scenario but it's something I would definitely envision and try and push for.
