Oakland Athletics (25-22, 11-9 Home) at Seattle Mariners (27-19, 15-9 Away)

Oakland is heavy favorites with Cahill on the mound, but it is hard to trust Leake in this spot. The current As roster mashes Leake and he surrendered four runs in his last trip to the Coliseum. His 4-3 record has more to do with a healthy amount of run support than him pitching well on the mound and I expect him to come back down to earth in this one. Look for Oakland to come out on top in the first game of their series against the Mariners on Tuesday night.

Golden State Warriors (58-24, 29-12 Home) at Houston Rockets (65-17, 31-10 Away), Game 4, GS leads 2-1

     Houston was destroyed in Game 3 as they were unable to get anything going offensively. The Rockets led by two with 4:04 to go in the opening quarter but gave up an 11-0 run the rest of the quarter to trail by nine. Houston never got closer than six the rest of the way and the Warriors put the boots to them in the fourth, outscoring the Rockets 38-18. The Warriors showed how dominant they can be when they are playing to potential. Houston should play better here but in the end, Golden State is atop the throne for a reason: look for them to prevail here again.

Cleveland Cavaliers (50-32, 29-12 Home) at Boston Celtics (55-27, 28-13 Away), Game 4, Celtics leads 2-1

     Cleveland put together their best performance of the series in Game 3 as they picked up a critical win. The key for the Cavaliers will be not letting up on the gas pedal, which is something that they have had issues with throughout the postseason. Cleveland has blown double digit leads on multiple occasions in the postseason and while they rallied to win some of those contests, the fact remains that it’s not the situation you want to be in. Boston should learn from the pasting they took in Game 3 and be a better prepared team for this one.

     Cleveland finds itself in the situation they didn’t want to be in: down 2-0 heading home where a slow start could lead to the crowd turning on them. The Cavaliers have to get more balance in the scoring department, something that we’ve talked about all postseason long. James, as great of a player as he is, can’t carry a team to a seven game series win against a top-tier opponent without some help. Love has bounced back from his slow start to play well but when three guys account for nearly 80 percent of the scoring in a game, you’re going to be in trouble. Boston hasn’t been great on the road but they are tough defensively: Cleveland may escape with a close win here but the Celtics cover the line.

     As much as you'd like to see an open final with two teams going for the win from the kickoff, you have to think this will be a stingy, cagey affair between two managers and two teams that simply don't care for one another. One man, Conte, is surely on the way out, and the other- Mourinho- is looking to build on his resume and prove why he should continue to lead United in this new era. With so much uncertainty surrounding Chelsea currently, United should just about edge it and deny the Blues as Arsenal managed to do last year.

Washington Capitals (59-29-8-1) at Tampa Bay Lightning (63-27-3-2), Game 4, Capitals lead series 2-1

     he Capitals have a 2-1 lead in this series, but it seems as if the Lightning have the momentum after taking game three right here in the Nation’s Capital. They have now won their last four road games in the playoffs, while the Caps have gone just 3-4 here at home in the postseason season so far. I like the momentum that the Lightning grabbed with their game three win and I look for them to keep it going in this one. The Caps have the edge on offense, but not by much, while I see Vasilevskiy as having a ton of confidence after stopping 36 of the 38 shots he faced in his last game. This has a feel of another Lightning win as they knot the series at two games apiece. 

     The Canadians will play Russia in the first game of the tournament's quarterfinals on Thursday. Russia concluded the preliminary round with a 5-0-1-1 record, second to undefeated Sweden. Led by former Red Wings' forward Pavel Datsyuk, Russia outscored its opponents by a nearly 3-1 ratio. Russia and Canada are tied with 32 total goals scored. The meeting between both offences couldn't be any closer on paper, but unlike Canada the Russians have been able to maintain their scoring efficiency over the past three games.

Vegas Golden Knights (60-26-5-3) at Winnipeg Jets (61-24-9-2), Game 3, Series tied 1-1

     The Golden Knights are yet to lose a home game in regulation during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs (4-1) and are certain to deliver another solid performance in front of their own fans, having triumphed in 14 of their past 16 domestic contests against teams with a winning road record. The only trip of the Jets to Las Vegas finished with a 5-2 defeat back in November, so a similar scenario is not that unlikely.

Houston Rockets (65-17, 34-7 Home) at Golden State Warriors (58-24, 29-12 Away), Game 2, Warriors leads 1-0

     The Western Conference Finals continue in the Lone Star State with the two teams that most expected to be here squaring off. The second-seeded Golden State Warriors are on the road for Game 2 of their best of seven set with the top-seeded Houston Rockets Wednesday night. Golden State drew first blood in the series as they pulled away in the second half to earn a 119-106 win Monday night in Game 1. The Rockets own a 121-92 edge in regular season wins and took two of three this season, including a 116-108 home win in the last matchup January 20. In the postseason, Golden State has won both previous series and holds a 9-2 edge in head to head playoff wins.
