Hello dooglus ,

I have a doge address
http://dogechain.info/address/D9n9tjJPfp3z9NgvQQ76kpJ6BJwGukE8TY

But it said  DOGE address [D9n9tjJP] was not funded on 12th May 2014

What's the problem ?

Did you have more than dust in the DOGE account around that time.

Well, clicking the link shows exactly what happened:

2 DOGE were moved to that address on 10th April, and the same 2 DOGE were moved out on 26th April, leaving the balance empty when the drop was done on May 12th. 3 DOGE were then put into the address on 8th December but that doesn't matter. It's just the balance on May 12th that counts.

Was just about to answer when I saw you edited
But anyways as ajw mentioned it was either to new or didn't have sufficient balance on the date of the drop.

If you have several hundred bitcoins in someone else's care and you don't bother to check them for years, you're either stupid or dead.

Me and another forum member had this idea of holding other people's coins... like, in a paper wallet, locked in a vault, away from your government. Sort of like offshore account.

We didn't get enough interest, and anyone smart enough can do something on their own.

Ok. I was just trying to be funny with your name, Mr. DumbFruit. hehehe.

How dare you! My user name is serious business. My sense of humor is very dry and very sarcastic, which are two forms of humor that pretty much don't work on the internet. The whole Thomas Jefferson thing wasn't very serious. (It doesn't have any legal merit, even though I find it very interesting.)

I'm with you Dabs, I think a couple of years is more than enough time for people to pick up their coins. If you have several hundred bitcoins in someone else's care and you don't bother to check them for years, you're either stupid or dead.

As for the debt thing, insurance companies hire actuaries or get actuarial studies / statistics, and you can see this reflected in the price of premiums, depending on your age. They have special categories for senior citizens too.

As for dooglus holding the coins, I'd say a year or two with announcements is more than enough time (except for those in a coma or in jail or where ever they are.) Downgrading the server or website so cost is low enough just for maintenance. Or maybe even make it static with a contact form.

Anyone who can log in should be able to withdraw their coins. Anyone who can't should find a way to prove they own any coins (by signing a bitcoin message.). If you had an account on pyramining.com, you can sell the account and cash out by doing just this.

If you had an account on eligius for mining, you could change your mining payouts by signing a message using your bitcoin address.

But the cost of maintaining a static or basic website for a few years (and the domain name) is small enough that he can pay for it. And even if he doesn't, the domain expires after 2015-06-13.

I can it hard to understand you.

If a debt expires after an average lifespan, and an average lifespan is 78 years, then doesn't the debt expire after 78 years? How is my age related to any of this?
I just described the rule wrong to begin with.
Jefferson argued that debts should not be contracted that would last past the debtor's current average life expectancy, because it's unethical to expect later generations to take up debts that they didn't agree to.

Therefore if you're 8 years old, you couldn't acquire debt that lasts more than 70 years. If you're 20 years old, you couldn't acquire a debt that lasts more than 58 years, and so on. If you're older than 78 then you shouldn't be getting into debt for any period of time, since you could keel over at any moment.

Hm. If you want to go really hardcore, you could follow the advice of Thomas Jefferson and keep them until the average lifespan has ended. By that time the debt should be wiped out, since the land is ruled by the living and not by the dead.

So you're presumably at least 8 years old, and the average lifespan in the US is 78 years, so you just need to hang on to those coins for another 70 years. You can think of it as a really late retirement account.

I think your math is wrong. I'd have to keep the coins for 78 years, until I'm 78+8 years old.

And I'm a lot older than 8.

Only if you're a nation, which I guess I haven't ruled out (A nation would be a flat 78). Otherwise you subtract your age from the average lifespan.

And what if the originating address is not a wallet they control? Like some web wallet? Or an old inputs.io account?

Web wallets, like Blockchain.info wallet, receive transactions normally to the previously sending address just like BitcoinQT wallet. If it was sent from some broken service like inputs.io only dust is lost, by reminding people this way some burden may be released.
