Meanwhile ... if anyone here reads/visits the linuxjournal web site ... I might suggest you find somewhere else to spend your time.

Someone from there is using ckpool - which is of course no problem, it is opensource after all - they also found a couple of blocks even - and had the donation enabled to -ck for 0.5% as the README says ... ... ... but apparently the boss there was livid when he found out about that 0.5% donation being enabled and got them to turn it off.

Hopefully my suggestion to avoid them will make them even more livid Smiley
Oddly they are also not telling the block sites what their coinbase sig is, so show up as unknown on them all.

Ah...I was curious who that might be. I gotcha. Thanks.

I'm lost lol

Linux since 1997 RedHat 4
well, quite a few more people left the pool in the last few wk.
I don't know if most were on S9 or not, but it is not an outrageous proposition that they could have been.
"absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" of this putative linkage.
I would think that both statements are inconclusive, at least for now.
4 of last 10 blocks where bmminer Smiley
Which of course also means nothing Smiley

Okay, Boys and Girls. Just got home from my miserable 2nd job and checking out today's blocks. All I can say is.... YESSSSSSS!!!

That's the way to do it!  Grin Grin

Now if we could only do this EVERY DAY, I can quit my Tues and Thursday job!

Lovn' It!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Great payouts with the lowered pool hash rate.
I haven't found a block recently with any of my four S9's. But one of them did find a block a few months ago. I'm not taking them off the pool as this is the place to be. And I can only think-hope that I am helping to crack these blocks we are getting.

Keep on ROCKING folks!  Cool Cool

EDIT: Also love the fact that we are 3.something ahead of the expected block count for our pool hash rate. Definitely a lucky day!  Cheesy

EDIT2: I just did some quick math. Close to $100 today with my four S9's. That is really sweet. (Of course that doesn't account for electric, but that's a small part.) Smiley  I could really dig 100 bucks a day, every day of the month! Might even be able to get my credit cards paid off. Wink

I agree with Phil and Zach

Every time this pool has less than stellar luck everyone starts theorizing something is wrong with the pool, their mining equipment, etc. Really makes for some entertaining reading at times.

I would not take this swing of good luck as proof that your S9's are a cause of bad luck.
Your 1.4PH would not make that big of a difference, at 100% that is like 1 block every 9 days.

True...but I didn't refer to any "proof", at least in my own comments. Inductive meant that the probability of the thesis was heightened. We'll see, I think.

This is the most accurate comment. You're attributing random chance association with proof. That's just plain wrong.

BLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess I need to post more often! Smiley
Now let's get a couple quickies to round out the day and go over our "Expected" number of blocks!

(Our workers number has gone from around 10,000  to approximately 6,500. Pretty sad.  Angry  )

mrbs12 is a 24TH/s miner, way to go!  Welcome to the Acclaim Board with your 1st Kano block!

thanks to the team kano.is

It is my first block of many and only have 5 days.

Greetings from Venezuela.

What a massive few days at Kano pool -- amazing block party today, brings back the good ole days and also it kind off put some truth behind Kano's calculations on bad luck brought by S9s.

To convince myself that moving out is the right thing to do, a few days ago, I temporarily moved 108 x S9s off the pool... taking a chunk of S9s off the pool may have normalised the pool altogether. I was hoping I could proof kano's math wrong. so my conscience is clear when I come back to the pool.... but I think he right in this matter -- its as simple as: take 100 x S9s out from pool = get luckier and get 4-5 blocks even with lower PHs.

While I am happy for fellow Kano miners, I am sad to face the fact the S9 farm pointed to this pool is not good for the her - means also that I am cannot mine at kano with the current gear. Lack of A7 information didn't help too... if it ever comes out, I would be more than happy to get my investors expand Juvia's farm and add a "Gray's farm" with A7s only to Kano pool.

I am no expert in the science behind bad luck calculations but I have my fair share of agony caused by faulty controller, hash board repairs, long RMAs and weird readings off a rip-coff copy of cgminer labelled as their own - so I know how bad we need a good competitor to Bitmain. I am still hopeful of getting some good news from Avalon...

...until then.... Juvia & minions have left the building.

My apologies to my fellow Kano pool members for being MIA - appreciate all the PMs too.

I hope to be back soon after some S9 issues are neutralised (link below), until then good mining to everyone  Wink

so 108 x 13th =1.404ph   if I am correct.

that would not be enough  to  hurt the pool.

keep them off for 5 more days.

then bring them back for five days.

run five 5 day tests.

off on off on off

if  the luck follows all five tests

good with your s9 off pool

bad with your s9 on pool

I would believe it.

Geez, man...I can't thank you enough for this information. You've helped me out a couple of times, no strings, and I appreciate that kind of honesty. Some day maybe I can return the favor. Anyway...I'd like to second everything.

I was going to stay quiet for a bit, but (as usual) can't. I'm still waiting for a formal RMA on the A6. It's been down for four weeks. With no news on an A7 (no, I don't know anyone at the Smithsonian...seemed a chuckle at the time) it's quite disconcerting. OTOH, I think the inductive logic result is that perhaps you...and some of the others...have been correct in your assertions re the cribbed software on the S9. I'm glad I didn't buy any, in deference to waiting for Canaan.

I'm still going to wait. I don't see any advantage at all in buying BM hardware now, or in mining elsewhere, unless it was solo.

What a great block day ... with 28,745.48THs pool hash rate , five block today is just like 10 block when we had hashing power over 55k THs here on Kano Smiley and that happened last time in the first week of August Smiley

0530 here...haven't even checked the blocks list yet...just saw four "found another block" msgs and practically choked.  Cool

C'mon French press...

And...if anyone happens to see an A7...let the Smithsonian know...they're fixing to put it on their "extinct" list.  Grin
