Yeah basically as Phil was saying, it's another 20ms longer in the risk of an orphan race.
20ms is nothing really though, since a block is on average around every 600s and adding another 20ms is basically not much of an issue due to our fast block propagation times.

The DE node network down times and mtr errors I see, are what I'm trying to reduce, so adding only another 20ms seems like an acceptable trade off if it does indeed increase 'EU' reliability.
We'll see how that fares over the next few weeks.

Also, yes it is with the provider you suggested, but I had to get them to change things around to a different configuration, since their current standard setup is lacking at the hardware level, which they will hopefully upgrade soon.

Had to do the same with my hosting provider...I run a private mail server (no, not for HRC  Cool ) and due to legit traffic had to reconfigure their hw to accommodate what they weren't expecting from a little tropical island in the Pacific...  Undecided

Block by dsppage with 124THs!  That would be his 5th Kano Block!  Cheesy

To add to that, same S7 as the block on Saturday it found. 3 blocks in 3 days with 120th. Unbelievable

893B share also!

congrats dsppage.... this SS7H is a winner..... you should put it to work at solo.ckpool.org  - maybe 25 real coins for you if 3rd time lucky!

Well it would have to be 4th time lucky, it found a block on 12/31, so thats 3 for this miner. Can it find a 4th?

I was helping some my friends get the miners tuned in the pool, and I just noticed "Kano" and "ckolivas" in the pool stats.

Since joining the pool last Dec, it never cross my mind to check.

Kano with 3.97THs and ck with 3.38THs ....  I wonder what miner HW are they using? Avalons? Test miners?
Me: Avalon A6 since last Dec - it was 2 until I blew a board on one of them a couple of weeks ago and haven't got around to running it as a half A6 yet

I've created a dk.kano.is node, in EU, like the de.kano.is node.

Consider it a test replacement for de.kano.is but I'll run both for probably at least a couple of weeks to see how they compare in reliability.
It is, however, another ~20ms further away from the main pool node in Vegas

If you wish to try it, just replace 'de.kano.is' with 'dk.kano.is'

Since they are both relatively close, you could make one the primary and the 2nd one your first backup.
Anyway, the point is of course to replace the de node, since linode isn't reliable enough, and we'll see how dk compares to de.

What does those 20ms longer away from main server means in practice ?

Hello everybody, I been here for a while like (350+ blocks) this is my first post in the forums Cheesy

Kano you are doing an amazing job with the pool I´m really happy to point my miners to CKPpool I got like 26THs.
I understand luck it´s luck, but this month we got like 5 days with only 1 block and few days with 2 or 3 blocks. Hope this change soon becuase we need more blocks... bad luck its killing us.

Please do some Voodoo code or something to get better luck Grin Grin Grin

sooner or later it will cause an orphan. But I would need to know a lot of info to figure out how long it would take to cause  the orphan.

think of it this way we have done about 7 back to back blocks of the close to 900 we did.

none of those back to back blocks were in an orphan race.  what I mean is  the second block did not save us from an orphan.

So remember how f2pool beat out our  last orphan in a race?

We need to get in an orphan race  again and lose by .19ms on the next block.  sooner of later that would happen.  maybe 10000 blocks from now.

It doesn't make a bit of difference but the DE node has been somewhat unreliable.  Kano has created the DK node without going with Linode to help improve the reliability.
