how many S7s can I run with 60amps/240v? assuming I use the Bitmain PSUs.

well if you have a 240 volt @20 amp it should carry 3500 watts safely  Cheesy
edit: also you can google "power formula" and do the math for your self Wink

I'm really just browsing and hoping for something cheap to pop up. But as @aarons6 said, it would be wise to wait for the next gen hardware to arrive and then have it drop some in price before making a purchase. Hopefully lower priced (after a few months), and a nice hash rate with acceptable power consumption.

Just out of curiosity, would you think that a 240 power strip coming from the 240/20amp plug would handle two Bitmain PSU's and power two S7's? (I'm electrically dumb.)
Thanks for any thoughts regarding that.

Just wanting my own miner farm for a couple hundred bucks. LOL Grin

You can call me a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...
You have 4800watts at the wall.  So 4800watts on every combined outlet connected to the 20 amp breaker.  Also including any lights connected etc..  More outlets are only good if you add a breaker and why not just add a higher amp breaker? At 60amps you got 14400watts on all connected power.  So accordings to Ohms law the only thing stopping your wattage increase is resistance.  The Resistance between your miners and the wall is your strips/extension cords.  Make sure you have some good surge or back up for high watts or a separate decent surge on each and you should be golden.

i don't see why it couldn't carry 3 bitmain psu Wink

Well, I just bought another S7 with "Power Supply Kit for Antminer S7. (2) Original HP 1000w PSU, (2) X-Adapter Rev: 2, (10) pair 14AWG THHN PCIe cables. 110/120V or 208/240volt compatible" that I can run off of my available 110 outlets.

The S7 was listed as "new" and unused on Amazon and was quoted as being a batch 10 during question and answer. The price was $525 after my Amazon discount/credit for just the miner. The HP PSU kit was $147 and will run off of my available 110/120V outlets.

The best part is that it's on my Amazon card with 180 days interest free.

At least I can add ~4.7+TH to my home mine operation.

I will save other funds for newer hardware that MAY come out towards the end of the summer.

I'm happy to have found something at a somewhat reasonable price that I can incorporate into the mine room without worrying about the electricity.

Next week I'll have the fun of hooking some more power into the grid. That's the FUN part!!

Best wishes all and blocks away!

rentals cannot possibly work on multiple occasions.
I understand the 'rush', but they are useless to make money, in my opinion.

Not as useless as buying a machine before the halving that will never ROI.  I've dropped 140th to 40th this past week, but I won't go below 20th.  I've bought 1 BTC plus I'm running one sp20 since January and I have had 16BTC in payouts.  Em sounds good, if you know when drop speed and let go.  Pull in the coin. I'm not so good at that part, just growing speed.   I just have a hashing addiction though and I do long rents. I'll rent from people off of the rental sites too. So it has potential.  You run rigs you owe for power in bad luck plus roi, but you have your rig left.  They are not useless, but I don't understand the rush either.  Making a big deal and rushing drives the price up substantially.  Rentals work on every lucky day though, because they make money over cost.  So they must work on multiple occasions since lucky days will come. A 300 percent day at 100th is pretty nice when only paid to rent 3 days.  In my opinion they are useful to make money, but I don't understand the rush.  The rush drives up the price.  You will make money and you will lose money.  You always got some comeback coin if don't go crazy though.  Look forward to the new avalon rigs so I can be less of a renter though.

I am now currently looking on both Amazon and Ebay for some used hardware that I can run as my own to increase my hash instead of renting.
My issues are with having enough power outlets to take care of what hardware I can get used.
I have already gotten an electrician friend to run a 240 to my mining room. That and another new outlet are both 20amp lines. I have one of my S7's running from the 240 outlet using a BitMain PSU and the other S7 is running from a EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 PSU connected to the new 20 amp outlet.

I'm looking for some hardware with at least 3-5 TH of hash that I can somehow work into my layout. I have some 110 outlets open also. So a lower powered miner that I can either use the 110 or run off the remaining connectors on the 1600 PSU is what I'm looking for.

I'm really just browsing now, but if I can get something rather cheap that can up my TH at least another 5TH cheaply I'll be happier.
There is a lot of hardware to choose from. Everything from S3's to Avalon's to Spoonies.
It's always fun to browse hardware anyway.

Anyway I'm just babbling and wishing I had another 240 outlet or two to add another S7 or two. Perhaps I'll ask my electrician friend if he can add a couple more outlets. He charges me very little for the work and lines /outlets as it's only about 25 feet from the breaker box. But I tend to get carried away with these things. If I had ten 240 outlets in that room, I'd try to put ten S7's in there....

Just dreaming of more hash power.... Grin
Best wishes.

its only 72 days till the halving..  everything you can get now would either have to be super cheap, or free..

Yes was thinking the same thing as well. But it's always fun to browse the hardware! Wink Thanks for the reply.

Simple math tells you if rentals work.

Right now  prices are too high.  So they do not work.

.002815 x .969 =  .002727 x 1.0788 = .00294

So in theory based on the pools lifetime history

  rentals under           0.00294 are good
rentals at or more    0.00300 are bad

So to say rentals don't work  is a ½ truth.

To say long term renting cannot possibly work on multiple occasions is   a simple fallacy.

The facts are they do work and many people here at this pool have turned a good profit renting.

The facts are they do not work every time.

The facts are long term they have worked at this pool.  Since the pool has paid at a life time rate of 1.0788  to 1.

I started yesterday with some .0029 rentals, but of course, had to bump up to .0030 when I got the dreaded orders declining in speed email alert. I don't mind the .0030 as long as we are hitting blocks regularly and have 5-7 in the confirmation pool, but that wasn't happening at all. So instead, just canceled the orders and put the coins back in my wallet.
There will come a better day. Grin

edit: I HATE seeing that bright RED CDF on the block stats page. Grrrrrr...

They have helped me bring in greater returns on some occasions, but unless you have an abundance of coins and can keep a steady rental rate while also hitting multiple blocks during that time, it's a losing proposition when all is said and done.

In short, I agree with you.

Sadly these last few days of below average luck have required that I cancel all of my rentals for now. It hurts to watch the rentals tick down with 8-20 hours between blocks as they have recently.

Too many coins going to NH/WH and not enough coins coming back to me. I wish I knew when to turn the rentals on and when to leave them alone. I don't have enough coins to gamble with rentals so freely.

I will just have to temporarily rely on my two S7's to bring in some dust to cover my electric and pray for a lucky block. I have never found a block and I know my chances are reduced with less hash. Still, there's that chance! Smiley

Maybe when the stats start turning all green again, I will put some more coins back into rentals to cover a few days of mid-level hash power.

I'm not complaining about anything, it just saddens me to have such a low hash rate. I have both of the S7's slightly over-clocked to 725 MHz, so I do get ~10TH between them. I know that is still better than some folks.

Best of luck to all and to the pool in general. I want to see that stat board all green again very soon!!!

Now, time for some more wine and stop the whine! Smiley
Let's see some blocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best to all!

-wp

Edit: I'm sure dropping my rentals will bring the blocks rolling in, so, you're welcome!  Cheesy
