This is a rare occurrence with two fat red blocks so close together.

Yeah.. I hope this isn't another black month for us. Lose all the profits from last month. LOL

The 11-Block Wednesday party was just 2 weeks ago.... it's payback time... what goes up must come down... like the the other coin that shall not be named.... Cheesy

how many S7s can I run with 60amps/240v? assuming I use the Bitmain PSUs.

you will NOT be able to use all 60A mate. make sure you add some allowance & also depends on your wiring job.

if you're talking across the causeway then most likely you will NOT get 240V all the time, i'd say use an avg of 1300W / 235V so it's roughly 5.53A per miner.

60A rated supply - 20% allowance so you have 48A to use (safely) so 48A / 5.53A per S7 = 8.679 S7's, 9 should be ok per 60A phase to be used safely.

try to get a good contractor or DIY (in my case) i always opt for pure copper cables (16mm for mains RYBNE) & good main switch, ELCB (RCCB) & MCB's. i'd also suggest to use a 2 gang power point per mcb with each Earth & Neutral line. best is not to loop them.

get a clamp & clamp so you will know the actual amp draw. i've seen as low as 4.7A draw on the 4.73th/s version but they do go as high as 5A draw when the hash is higher but it avg's out at abt 4.7A per miner. clamp to be sure.

GL & have fun. you can always PM me if you have any questions.

ok back to topic, whereisblock ? me long time no see block no happy no love you looong time ;( sob !!!

gimme ma supa dupa GREENS !

thanks man for the advice - and yes, the JB hunt is nearly there, keep fingers crossed but Internet connection will be challenging - may need 2 x ISPs.
dont worry, I will ping you if I run into problems....  Grin

Now..... I ate like 5 spicy chicken wings for dinner -- that got to be worth at least 5 blocks!!!

Where are you Mr & Mrs Blocks!!!

From my understanding (what little I have,) you must (should) always leave 20% for a cushion regardless of the amperage. With my sorry electrical and math functioning, I'd prefer to leave it to the pro's where it all comes naturally.
Good luck to all and be safe with your electricity.

Yep sabit is on, 10 is about right.  Volts x amps at breaker = watts at the wall. Then amount of miners X actual power draw.  The more room you leave the faster and cooler your miners/psu will run and more stable they will be. PSU choice is more of a quality/stability decision than power usage. Efficiency is marginal if your talking KW.    I became a fan of corsair gold and up.  Only PSU brand my s1 fleet didn't kill.   I was maxed and hot with cords from every room though. Nothing like an atx that knows when to shut down without damage before a pcie, chip, or the PSU  is fried.  I knew I could leave the place and they were safe.  Sure thing WMA.  You got a sweet setup and an electrician buddy.  If you got a 200 amp with loads of room I would ask for 60amp to replace the 20amp in that room if the lines can take it.  10 vs 3... You would be gravy and could add new incoming hardware to your 3 s7.

I know they put in new cables for the 240/20amp and the single 20amp line, I'm thinking they were all 14 AWG cables, but i'm not sure of the other wire gauges that are already installed in the room/house. Probably lighter gauge cables. I'll have to get him back over here soon with a pizza and a twelve-pack to "talk over" some more upgrades.

As far as the new upcoming S7 next week, I know I have the juice to handle it. After that, I will need some guidance from a professional electric man to keep my house from burning down. LOL

I DO keep a fire extinguisher right inside the door to the mining room. I also need to get a smoke detector for that room only. That has been on my mind for a while now.

I don't know what he will think about upping from 20 to 60 amp fuses in the main breaker box. Perhaps a separate breaker box can be run from the main for just the miner room would be an idea to consider. That would clean up a lot of issues and potential problems making things cleaner and clearer.
But for now, as you said, I'm golden.
Let's see some BLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

edit: I do have some AC coming in currently at the intakes to the miners/PSU's. The air coming out of the miners is almost COOL. But I also have a 20" window fan in another window sucking the hot air outside. Man, it drops the room temperature down at least 40 degrees!

About 10

Its 14.4kw

Thanks SaBit - I also used the online calculator and got 9 x S7 (14400w div 1600w=9)

My place gets 240v 3-phase power, my electrician has assured that there's room for expansion.

But I will stick to 60amps, because I can't afford any higher than that.

well if you have a 240 volt @20 amp it should carry 3500 watts safely  Cheesy
edit: also you can google "power formula" and do the math for your self Wink

I'm really just browsing and hoping for something cheap to pop up. But as @aarons6 said, it would be wise to wait for the next gen hardware to arrive and then have it drop some in price before making a purchase. Hopefully lower priced (after a few months), and a nice hash rate with acceptable power consumption.

Just out of curiosity, would you think that a 240 power strip coming from the 240/20amp plug would handle two Bitmain PSU's and power two S7's? (I'm electrically dumb.)
Thanks for any thoughts regarding that.

Just wanting my own miner farm for a couple hundred bucks. LOL Grin

You can call me a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...
You have 4800watts at the wall.  So 4800watts on every combined outlet connected to the 20 amp breaker.  Also including any lights connected etc..  More outlets are only good if you add a breaker and why not just add a higher amp breaker? At 60amps you got 14400watts on all connected power.  So accordings to Ohms law the only thing stopping your wattage increase is resistance.  The Resistance between your miners and the wall is your strips/extension cords.  Make sure you have some good surge or back up for high watts or a separate decent surge on each and you should be golden.

The new lines, a single 240/20amp and the single 110-120/20amp line my friend installed have nothing running off of them such as lights or anything else. They are entirely dedicated to the miners/PSU's.

Nothing at this time is running from an extension cord except a 110/120 small air conditioner running from one of the regular 110 outlets and a fan to evacuate the hot air from the room to the outside.

My friend also installed a direct ground surge protector for the whole breaker box that is supposed to be a "whole home" surge protector. He is a certified/licensed master electrician, so I hope he knows what he is doing.

From what I understand from him, the whole breaker box is a max of 200 amps and he said I was using very little of that as I have a gas furnace, stove, and hot water heater.

Thank you for your reply and information. It's greatly appreciated!
