Kano sees all, sometimes there is a lot of data to go through.

Everyone keep in mind that this is all speculation at this point. Kano has not come right out and said what is going on. He hinted towards something in a couple posts, but let us wait until he confirms things himself. I sure he wants to get it all sorted out and be sure of things before he says anything.

If a miner refuses to acknowledge that it got a block doesn't that block become available for another miner to find?

Remember when there was an anomalous miner on slush's pool, he allowed 10PH of worthless mining for over a month and kept paying them for it and then proudly announced he had developed 'provably fair mining' to prevent it ever happening again, but had already been paying 10Ph worth of payouts to them for a month, and never returned the rewards paid to that miner to compensate the rest of the miners. Let's just say we don't want to see that happening here before you complain about a block payout being delayed.

I agree! let Kano do what he does
That is REALLY ff'ed up, 10PH for a month.

That, combined with a total lack of communication from "The Captain", was the final straw for me at slush. I had been mining there since January 2014.

I joined kano.is about 3 weeks ago and haven't looked back.  I really appreciate the constant communication and updates Kano and -ck provide.

I missed this.  I do recall hearing about some extraordinary bad luck at slush not that long ago so I am guessing this is the same thing.  So was it a block withholding attack or did someone figure out another way to game the pool?

Frankly: I don't care if the payment is late for one block, five blocks or twenty blocks. Someone probably tried to cheat, and kano is investigating it. This means that all of us may - probably - get more at the end of the day if someone was running a withholding attack. If not, we all will get what we mined for.

What I, personally, would love to read at the end of the day: Who was trying the attack. It happened at Eligius, it happened at Slush's, now at kano.is. I'd love to know who it was or if there is any clue which leads to the attacker...

I doubt this.. Just bad luck IMO. A withholding 'attack' unless one of the HUGE recent miners on kano.is, would not affect the rest of the miners and the amount of hash we've been sending here.

I am not worried about a scam by kano, as I think he/she/it has been the most honest and informative person with regards to being an open book with this pool as well as helping us with non related questions even.

What got me asking is that I've never had such a long (7blocks) delay of payment ever from kano.is in over a year of mining here. I'm not hurting for it, but I am sure others than run rentals or have smaller rigs/home farms who need the funds to secure payments for electricity or gear costs, hosting, etc., are in the negative already.

A block withholding attack is where a miner (or mining entity, shh) offers up the dud answers to get the rewards, but, if they actually get the correct answer for a block, they don't hand it over to the pool operator. Doing this is not directly profitable to the miner - the answer is specific to the pool - but if blocks are regularly being withheld from a pool, profits are being shared with people who aren't really contributing. The profitability of that pool then falls, because less is paid out for a given amount of effort/work/dud answers. If the profitability of a pool is lower, people will switch pools

Can be done unknowingly by renting hash.

'The right to privacy matters'
okay

I have two accounts .

one is the solar array

the other is in my garage and rentals

the last payment to my rental/ in house was 7 blocks ago

https://blockchain.info/tx/44018e0a1169a3f09e019b7372d509a70d417b1df3623770468bad5eb6c126af

block 402133

the seven after that are not paid and add to more then .273 btc

this account had heavy rentals from nice and west hash.

the solar array is 2 avalon 6s as of now and it was last paid  block 402133  .00498

7 missing payments are about  0.035

so the lack of payments is the same 7 blocks for each account

If it helps kano and -ck   the smaller account if very consistent and is only 2 avalon6's at the moment.

I would think they could be a baseline for you all.

cryptodonkey on the pool.
Shit happens yes, but as long as every block is paid quite fast i think this system is ok, as it normally is.  Now it might be a little to long time.

tich13 block was last payment.
6 mature blocks since then no payment yet.
one new fresh block.
Just trying to keep track of payments on my end.

It is good for kano to get the payments correct, however long it takes. They will all come in a big blob Smiley
