Thanks Kano.  Maybe this Diff fix will bring us some more luck.  I am glad I moved to your pool.

Tom

... and since we just found another block ...

I'll plan the restart to include the Worker Diff fix in 35 minutes - when the minute hand next hits 30

This will be one of those quick ckpool restarts with only very few miners affected.
Most miners will just see a cgminer reconnect.

There will also be a CKDB restart much later today to add in the code to track high diff shares in the database.
I've been checking this manually using the logs, but of course having the code do it is better Smiley
I'll post again when I push that update and am ready to restart CKDB, it's early morning here now, that update will be this after noon.

Sorta kinda dumb question...but I figured this was the place to get a concise answer. There were some code changes recently, and since then I've noticed all my machines, 6 S3s and one S2, have gone to 1.042 diff as a pool-assigned value. Seems(?) a bit high for an S3, at least. Should I reset these manually to something like 400? Or wait and see? The rewards are down slightly, which doesn't seem to match any change in the pool hash rate. Is there a relationship there?
-ck knows about this, said he will fix shortly. Was a bug he introduced.
He said go manual until his fix is in.

The fix is in the code awaiting a pool restart. Kano rightly tries to limit the number of restarts to pull in new changes, although when the code is stable miners barely notice the restarts. However there was some instability in the newer code pulled in a couple of weeks ago and we always feel bad when there is any interruption to mining whatsoever. You have to understand how hairy it is restarting a production server with almost 10k clients connected concurrently. While I do lots of testing of code before deploying it, some code issues you can only see in production due to the nature of the load it's exposed to. Having said that I'm trying to find a nice stable point where there is no requirement for further pool restarts any time in the near future. The current pool code on the current server hardware could now easily handle 20x as many miners, though continuous improvements in the database code to keep up as the load increases will need to be implemented. Database restarts for upgrades don't affect mining so they're a lot easier and safer to perform at regular intervals.
Thanks -ck, I know how production code can be a bear.
Glad you figured it out, you are the MAN.
Always nice to get the warm and fuzzy explanation.
I have complete confidence in you sir.

First of all, thank you Kano for such a wonderful pool. I'm here since January and haven't had any problems till some days ago. I have two S7s. They both do 5Th/s in bitmain monitor. So in total 10 Th/s. And it was 10Th/s on kano.is But few days ago my speed droped about 1 Th/s on kano.is But in monitor it is still showing 10Th/s total. Where could be the problem?
P.S. the speed dropped on 22 Feb

Try rebooting them, some tend to slow down after time.

simple answer   is think in 100 block segments not one or two block segments.

or time in needed for full payments = 32 hours.

yes

at the start of time needed  say you have 1 hour in and 31 to go    that makes a small payment.

then 10 hours in 22 to go   makes a bigger payment.

then 20 hours in 12 to go even bigger.

then 32 hours in = full share.

the 32 can change a bit when the pool gets a lot more hash.

several reasons.

you are only paid when a block is found.
there is a ramp up time till you get to full payment.
payout is on a pplns system.

payments are best looked at on the long term vs the minute or hour or even daily time frame.

Different payout mechanism here than at slush.  You did nothing wrong - you just need to be patient.  Perhaps you might try reading up on how PPLNS works Smiley

i tried changing min diff on my compac stick worker but it stays at 1.042k diff

I had that happen too. One of my rigs needed a reboot when i changed the diff setting under worker management on kano. The it was good.

I spent almost a year at the antpool before coming over to kano.  I was happy with the payouts but I did not like supporting zero blocks and SPV mining.  I made the switch at the end of November and it took me a while to get used to the variance but the pool was a lot smaller then.  Then I had a record month of payouts for December...and another record month of payouts for January.  Then February was my 3rd highest month ever and it only had 29 days!  So now I only focus only on monthly results and I couldn't be happier.  I am also blown away by the open, honest, and transparent support we get here from kano and -ck.

Wow, a welcome wagon eh, that's great! XD

Been reading on the OrganoOfCorti blog, good stats, I came down to the same conclusion as most did.
My thing about mining though is I like predictability and stability, even if it sacrifices profit and AntPool has been a good partner in that aspect but other activities keep me from looking at stats all the time.
Right now I got time to screw around and I am doing some upgrades in my mine, this week and next week I had scheduled to work on my mine because the new miner arriving.
I'm just a little miner but all my coin is 100% profit, I've no power bill.
Don't matter anyways, I'm still going to buy miners from Bitmain because, well, no one else is selling anything better for less coin.
I am not leaving because the pool sucks, I am leaving because the empty blocks are a burden to the network and I don't support that activity.
Not a lot of pools have been as stable as AntPool and the graphs are a testament to this fact.
Bitmain shot itself in the foot for BTC.com, this came to me out of nowhere, that's how I found out.

I only have about 13TH.s right now, I almost stopped mining after I lost my S4 and C1 within a week... but who'm I kidding; I'm not giver-upper, mining's in my blood.
There's an S7 on its way too though and I have room for two more.
Been mining non-stop, other than the month my modem died and needed a new ISP... since the S1 era and I still mine them right now; for heat...  they make amazing backup/reserve miners too.
As much as I want to shut them off entirely, they seem to always make their ways back into my mine or office; miners die.
Right now I have... well, take a look for yourselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2O0iayRhHk, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2O0iayRhHk (Older)... Your ad viewership is appreciated.
There is a pair of S5's and a pair of S7's in there, so the right side is 4-5 times more powerful than the left side.... 2.2Th.s vs. 9.5TH.s (One was downclocked to adapt for a health device)
Terrible sound and video, I know but I like watching this at night Smiley
I'll make more videos like this once conditions are favorable and I get a new mic (on its way)

I also have 3 S3's, a pair of S1's still and 1 FrankenMiner... ie: 1 S3 blade + 1 S5 blade on same frame for around 800gh.s. (This is badass, will make a vid before taking it down and how to build one)
The S3's are in my office for heat and because they are rather silent compared to the new generation of ants... boy are they ever XD
My mine is evergreen, I always keep up with the new miners and liquidate the older ones, it's a lot of work but it's how I stay on top.
