Seems odd that someone would ddos such a small pool as Kano. We must be doing something exceptional here.
I wonder if a low level ddos over time would screw with our latency without being detected.

They really left their ass hanging out by ddos'ing right after the block.

just curious, what back up pools do you use guys?
im new in mining and had all pointed to kano; lesson learnt but  not sure which would be the best option
thanks

I figure that if your miners are going on a short holiday that you might as well get a guaranteed payment while they are AWOL.

Otherwise they have a costly holiday and don't earn much unless there is a block found while they are on another pool during the failover

For that reason I use PPS failovers.

Yes - I will wash my mouth out with soap after this.

F2Pool (PPS)
Antpool (PPS)

I must admit, those are my backup pool also but PPLNS. I switched over to Kano from Antpool after I read this thread.

You're not the only ones. I hate to admit it but I also use F2Pool as a backup.

I agree that PPS for a backup pool makes the most sense. In addition to the argument that other payment schemes mean that a backup pool has to find a block during a failure in order for the hash to be useful, some pools (like slush) penalize pool hopping anyway. I've considered solo mining as a backup, but that's basically a low odds gamble.

As much as I don't like what these larger pools do, I really don't like when my miners are idle due to a primary pool problem. If there were other PPS options I'd consider them as a backup.

Here is a small pps pool (71 TH/s) that I used to see if it would work as a pool3 back-up because I'm sick of f2pool's antics.  My S7s ran so well for 2 months that I really didn't get to see how it works and I havn't collected enough reward for a payout yet but I thought I'd throw it out there.  It appears to let you volunteer the percentage you want to pay but I didn't get to check that out much either.

EDIT:  It looks like it has grown to 350THs lately...

New diff is 103880340815.455 (103.9G)
So that was a rise of 11.2%

One of my miners got scared of the diff increase and blew a fuse.  Literally!

This morning the fan on one of my SP20s stopped spinning and the miner went into repeated restart cycles.  Upon pulling it apart I read a short across the fan +12V and GND lines.  Fuse F4 was blown, and capacitor C317 was the cause of the short.  I've bodged something together to get power to the fan until I can get the correct replacement parts.  It is mining again.  Amazingly all of the ASICs still work!

And next one adjustment will be over 10%...   Undecided Cry

We saw near 900 Ph last week, and the diff is not rise enough...  Huh

I would like to think the new bitfury are released now and we don't see any more network rise...  Tongue   too pretty, but...  Roll Eyes

can anyone explain this hughe spike in PH?
now back to 6PH

kilo17 had rented approximately 1 PH.  His rented hash has dropped off now and his total hash is slowly diminishing.  You see him dropping down in the stats.  He was at the top.

7 users, 12 workers on the nonce proxy total ~30THs

Don't forget they show up under the 'blank' worker name.
So if you username is 'ExaHash' and worker is 'ExaHash.nonce' it will show up in your account under the worker name 'ExaHash' without the worker name on the end.

Otherwise PM me your username and I'll check.

(also don't forget it's ONLY for tubes ... if you point any normal miner there it probably wont work)

Hey Kano,

Had some pretty funky networking issues going on the last few days.  I think I have it all sorted out and I am bringing more hardware online, but the tubes stopped showing up in the workers section. My stats page says its getting and doing good work, and I can point it at slush and see it working so I know its not the controller.  Any chance you can take a look on your end?

I second this, as I have all my miners pointed at Kanos but only a portion of my hash rate is showing even though they've been on for over 5days.
