Just curious if it is possible for a block to not be able to generate an answer (go through every possibility)?  I wonder if anyone has analyzed how many possible answers there are for the various difficulties?

Also a tech question / idea for Kano...  Are shares distributed sequentially or randomly to miners around the world?  It seems that randomly picking shares may improve our luck (may make it worse too).  I am a 30+ year web / c++ developer that has combined dedicated servers into a worldwide distributed digital signage solution.  I have a concept on how to code random share distribution to deal with the trillions of shares.  I am tempted to code up my own pool but have no idea where to start and have paying customers to keep happy.  Kano, if this is distributed sequentially, can we chat?

I have to say this is getting to be a very annoying Block.

Also, since I tossed this up in another forum and got no answer I am going to toss it up here, maybe one of you guru's knows what's up:

On the Antminer s9:

Model   GNU/Linux
Hardware Version   16.8.1.3
Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-gb190cb0-dirty #57 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 9 14:49:22 CST 2016
File System Version   Fri Jul 21 05:15:25 EDT 2017
Logic Version   S9V2.23
BMminer Version   2.0.0

Does this model only have one set of chips with temperatures? The reason I ask is because all my other s9's, older, have two sets of chips with temps, but this one doesn't. But it is hashing the same speed.

s9-v.2.23

s9-v2.00

It's same that first screen on my two 13.5.
But on Awesome Miner, it seems i have all temperature.
Chip and PCB.

The strange thing, is the first PCB is higher than others.
And between my two S9, 8°C in difference, fan is not same...
One speed at 4300 and temperature is 57, others 5300 and 65....
I will post in S9 topic Cheesy

I see you Phil!!! Up to 10ph now! and the Pool is over 100ph!!!  Cheesy Cheesy

The beast of a block needs to freaking END already!!!! Come ON BLOCKS!!!! Tha's it I am having one of my chickens for dinner tonight!
That's the spirit!  Those of us long time kano-ites know full well the power of the chicken eating mojo.  Cool
There are those who, from even longer ago (is that a thing?) would point out the female undergarment headress angle, but I'm not convinced...  Roll Eyes
Mine on, and don't sweat the week to week variance.  We're in it for the long haul, and this short-term rollercoaster ride is not only to be expected, but to be embraced!  Grin
Woot, coming up on 450% diff, love it!! Get that sucker of of the way and then let the blockalanche commence!  Cheesy

I fully expect at least 4 blocks back to back after this horrid monster cracks!

Lost many user and lots of hashrate speed  Huh Huh
Yeah it was a failover between the two nodes that handle stratum.kano.is, from LA to Silicon Valley.
Woke me up and I basically just watched the graph dive down then come back up again.
I didn't post, but I guess I should have, I was tired and annoyed to be woken up by a problem, rather than by a block Sad

yes, the miner have one thermostat per hash board and therefore display only one temperature. Some models have two thermostats and display both temperatures. It is normal for recent batches

Any of you who bought S9s last night, did you receive the "Paid" confirmation email after sending btc payment? I usually do from bitmain but didn't this time.

I did got one within 10min

DAMN, did I miss an announcement or did they just spring it?

They sent out an email on it and someone posted in here last night.
