A follow up from the change I did to the main stratum node the other day:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.46326106
...

I live in Oregon. Will my miners jump to another Oregon node or to the LA node?
Random - but it's already been done 3 days ago as I mentioned in the other post.

stratum.kano.is is 3 nodes, 2 in Oregon and 1 in LA.
It's random which one you end up on when you connect.
While the LA one is 30ms further (for anyone closer to oregon), so far it also happens to be better at holding connections.

As I said in the post the other day,
Quote
They're 30ms apart but that's OK for this 'trial' run.
This is to see how well it performs and if all goes as planned I'll probably do some more changing around of stratum.kano.is in a few weeks.

A follow up from the change I did to the main stratum node the other day:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.46326106

Recap:
The stratum node is 3 servers in a round-robin so if you mine to stratum.kano.is, you randomly get one of the 3.
I replaced one of the AWSLS oregon nodes with another provider node in LosAngeles.

So now:
the old node still has about 20% of the miners on it.
i.e. about 300 miners are mining away on the old AWS node that I'm shutting down.
So to push those final miners over to one of the current 3 nodes, I'll stop it.

As before, no one needs to do anything, it will simply be a failover from the old stratum node to one of the other 3.
It will also only affect those ~300 (random) workers on stratum.kano.is

I'll do this in 1.5 hrs at 04:00 UTC so any (of the ~300 miners) that fail over due to that, you will know why.

Again it is just an immediate failover for ~300 miners, nothing more.

I'm trying Fuzzy. I already have 1 block on the acclaim list (davewill2). Just recently retired the Avalon 741s and the last Ebit E9
and added two brand new Dragonmint T1s. I'm up to 94TH now. Oh yes, also overclocking my S9s at 15TH each with modded firmware
that has auto tuner configuration which surprisingly keeps the power consumption down. My goal this month is to get one more block on
the acclaim list.

would you share what you did with your S9's?

EDIT: I see above where you answered someone else with same question. thanks!
One thing I forgot to mention, I use the APW5 power supply when I overclock the S9 with this firmware.

Which firmware are you using? I've been tweaking mine too but only about 14.5.
I'm using this one: xilinx-antminer-s9-s9i-1.0.7.2.tar.gz
On cold days I set it at 16TH auto tune mode and I get 1585 watts at the wall. I keep it at 15TH on warm days
and get 1465 watts at the wall.

I am thinking about moving to your pool. I have 763.5TH. But without reading through this entire thread, can you tell me if there is anyway that your pool can notify me if a worker has stopped working or is hashing at a low rate via email or phone app?

Kano keeps the 1st page updated, definitely no need to read all the in-between, but to address your question directly you'll need an app or other way to notify. The pool itself won't do it. Personally I use Awesome Miner to report low hashrate, high temp, etc.

You should try the pool, solid people, low fee, and Discord where rifleman74 drive by posts MINE ON KANO SAN and then fades in to the darkness Smiley

Yeah that info is listed in the first post here on the thread.

It's worth reading the first post Smiley if you don't keep up with the rest of the posts, since it includes some of the main details about the pool.

I did read it, there is a lot of info there and I missed it when someone quoted it again above, I was happy to see it as I read the post originally months ago.

This ^^^ thank you! I did not know there was an app - I had created an "app" by adding the webpage to my iPhone screen - this requires me to log in each time though if enough time passes.

The only thing I notice about it is that it states last payout was 9/27 when the last one was actually today. It references the block from 9/27 correctly it is just missing the three block payments after that.

I also use awesome miner but I have yet to be able to get that to work off my network, so this is nice to verify that my miners are still working.

Carl, aka Sonny :)
Of topic but wanna mention that S9i and S9j works well on S9.
Did flash all my S9 and working great since. Less power, less chip heat....however they sometimes make a low pitch noise because of thr fans running slower.

I would like to know more about this. When the S9i came out I thought I read about a few people who had tried to run the S9i firmware on an S9 and it was said not work. How many S9's have you done this to? Which firmware are you using exactly (S9i or S9j)? What method did you use to upgrade the firmware?
You still mining at slush where they make crappy empty blocks every once in a while - or did you switch to here?

I currently get 3 notices when one of my miners drops below the hashrate I set; a push notice from the Apple app to my iphone; a text message to my phone from zachmonroe web site, and an email from the zachmonroe website (this where you can set the minimum hashrate for each miner).  I understand that the minergain web site does the same thing and although I have never tried the android app, I hear it also sends out these notices as well.

Apple App (find on the Apple App Store):
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ckpool-stats-iphone-app-1344360

Android App, read in the thread here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11091187

For miner monitoring (Zach Monroe Web site):
https://ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com/
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/kanopool-monitor-hashrates-workers-rewards-and-notifications-for-kanpool-1331875

For miner monitoring (minergain Web site):
https://www.minergain.com/

These apps also send block find notices to my phone but the fastest way to get those is to sign up for a Discord account and install the Discord app on your smart phone.  The Block Bot notifier is really fast! Cheesy
https://discord.gg/yMnjF35

Discord has also become the best way to get info and/or ask questions about the KanoPool. Smiley

Download the firmware from bitmain
Flash

That's it. Both S9i and S9j work fine on S9 13.5T and 14T. Have 11 units. Am running S9j on all.

You can try from the SD card for testing instead of flashing.

on a total side subject can anyone tell me how to create a signature here? I see people with them, I have looked thru the profile settings and I must be blind because I do not see it. Let me rephrase - I see it in my profile, but I see no way to edit it.

rather than derail this thread, can send me a pm as well.

now, let's get more blocks! Smiley

Thank you good sir. I did yell at my machines for a good 20 minutes when I got home, for their slacker attitudes. No guarantees but they looked scared

To see if it works for you, click on "Profile" at the top of the page, then click on "Forum Profile Information".  You should see an empty box to the right of "Signature:" if you are allowed to do anything with it and just type what you want in that box. Smiley

correct, I can get to that point but it will not let me edit the box - per the forum rules page:

- Newbie: No styling (including links) allowed. Max 50 characters.
- Jr. Member: No links allowed. Max 150 characters.
- Member: Unlimited length.
- Full: Color allowed.
- Sr. Member: Size allowed
- Hero: Background color allowed

so as a newbie, I should be allowed the 50 characters - I am almost to the Jr. Member level so I will just have to wait to see if it lets me at that point.
