Wtf, Whats wrong with ICO ? Last days china ban ICO and now south korea  Cry

But we can use this oppurnity to buy bitcoin and altcoin with low price  Tongue

Blame it to the tons of ICO scams recently and some of the ICO are pretty shady. I don blame the government if they want to shut the ICO down.

Nbody is banning anything. They are just regulating it. Manipulators are blowing it out of proportion to lower price before it moons next month.

Exactly this, not banning but regulating. And of course manipulators are spreading too much FUD so they can buy cheap coins, same as those Wall Street people which spread FUD on BTC. I read somewhere, some months ago something like "when real money will come in crypto, someone's gonna get hurt". True, if financial manipulators = real money

I already learned from China banning ICOs. It is cannot can the price down forever. Bitcoins and altcoins will recover from any bad news and FUD spreading around. I will do the same as I did before, HODL.
Yes you are right , they aren't banning crypto just the ico's.

There just will be different ways of distribution now.
Haha, if you really do not want to have big loss in future, I think you should change your think.
In someday, the scenario of whales will change and you will do not know that, of course, not easy to know that because we are not a part of them.
But you still can take loss if you know still try hold Bitcoin is high risk.

It's understandable that governments respond to the crypto boom. They want regulation, as always. Money laundering is what they are trying to fight. I see this as positive though, I mean the whole ban tendency. Major and promising coins both won't be affected, but this will help to sieve the garbage, as only good projects and teams will be able to get through, working to make everything right and legitimate. There are ways to attract investment beyond ICOs, no doubt.

What it says is "Korea will ban any kind of ICO." It is official from the Government.

Recall what happened when China banned all the ICO.

I think this is going for better because daily daily new new I os are coming and collecting investment from. The people and after that they starts their project which may or not be better as what we expect ( example of yes coin that I faced for long term).
And also in the current time people don't want make money by hard work, they want to invest and want get out the profit easily  by doing nothing, but in actual the way where we flow our money is not seems to be better according to the countries government.
So here may be it is better descion for the bitcoiners by the  government of China and also of Korean, May be here no negative thing we will see because bann of Icos is going to happen not ban of bitcoin.

The Korean government should first study and know the situation well before they make unreasonable decisions. Instead of following China, they should follow America. Issue the warning first and then study what is going on.

Does the SEC want to ban all ICOs? I reckon no because there are benefits. One solution for it is to limit how much money an ICO raises.

I suppose they studied it all before ban, don't believe they did this without reason.  I just hope this won't affect too much on signature campaigns.

Thats great, better to regulate this ICO thing. I do agree that this should be regulated  to screen from fraud and scams. If this happen then we focused on trading. Or we should accept only those existing company with existing infrastructure and business license to conduct for ICO.

No one care, Korean and Chinese volumes are fake and it not going to change much, price wise.

I too do not care but let's not forget that china is one of the major miners in blockchain in which why the price went down extremely. I know that now is different because it is slowly rising to 4k China's lose in btc is still a big rollback in the history of blockchain. But btc is gaining better supporters and we small traders dont really feel the change but for millionaires who invested in btc, they must've had issues to deal.

I do'nt care too minus the chinese still bitcoin reach $4,000 and now with out Korean it still it will be $4,000. I just feel sad because of so many obstacles for bitcoin before it reach $5,000 at the end of this year without these issues probably it already reach it by now.It will be their people lost not ours if they will only think the welfare of their people they would not think too much of the bitcoin disadvantages but instead they should find ways to counter it.

Korea gov is friendly with USA gov so I think they will just control ICO. not ban it. many good ICO from USA still coming

Most of the icos does not allow US participants

Are we gonna see ban on exchanges too?

I noticed that too, but don't know why - maybe for preventing scam..But what happens if US citizen invest in this ICO? Going to the jail or waiting big fine?)

same thing with China. I think more countries will follow this, and regulation is not a bad thing for cryptocurrency. If scams and frauds disappears, cryptocurrency will become stronger and widespread

Apparently it is happening:

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-southkorea-bitcoin/south-korea-bans-all-forms-of-initial-coin-offerings-idUSKCN1C408N?il=0

It seems to be domestic ICOs that are banned:

Quote
“Stern penalties” will be issued on financial institutions and any parties involved in issuing of ICOs, the statement added, without elaborating further on the details of those penalties.

It doesn't affect non-ICO coins like bitcoin, litecoin and so on.
