Unpleasant there is a tendency with the prohibition of ICO. After China and other countries began to look closely at such activities as the original offer of coins (ICO). Such a prohibition is useful only when the critical situation with this activity develops and is related to its non-transparency of conduct and a significant increase in the risk for investors that are associated with the possibility of fraud with investors' funds. I hope that this prohibition of ICO in Korea will be temporary and aimed only at good ends.

The Korean government probably just wanted to protect its citizens from getting scammed because the ICO investors are susceptible to scams. Some find ICOs to be very sketchy in nature and the possibility of fraud is highly possible since there is no control over ICOs. Hopefully this ban would be lifted in the near future so that the Korean citizens would be able to participate and invest because despite the numerous scams, there are worthwhile coins and ICOs out there worthy to invest in.
Since some project has appeared to be the scam project but not at all. If you are  calling that as ico but i'd liked to call that as  crowdsale. The korean just another stupid think. The world is not only korea. many better countries outside here.

a couple of months ago nobody even knew Korea even existed.
a couple of weeks ago nobody even knew Korea is even involved in cryptocurrencies.

and now that "ICO" is banned over there everyone is talking about it as if they are the center of the universe and all cryptocurrencies are being priced based on what Koreans do and people are speculating about price based on this news!!!

If they ban icos only it will be good for current coin market if you can trade them freely. They will be the "ones" that got lucky to be in market before ban on ico

Korea gov is friendly with USA gov so I think they will just control ICO. not ban it. many good ICO from USA still coming

Most of the icos does not allow US participants

Are we gonna see ban on exchanges too?
Gosh, I hope not. I mean, regulating ICOs is one thing. It has its downs like price dumps but ups like safe market. Banning all ICOs without giving them a chance is too strict. I mean, I am not a fan of icos but I admit some projects are actually nice. People have their right to take full responsibility and invest money in what they feel is a good project.
I have a question related to such bans: after the coin is released via ico, does it become legit? Or ico ban means that even after the ico is finished and the coin's on the market it's still illegal to use it?

should be in the presence of this condition. ICO is changed or the system is made in such a way that investor confidence is higher. and ICO itself has a system that can minimize its negative impact.

Recall what happened when China banned all the ICO.

nothing happened when China banned all the ICOs.
all you saw happen was a price drop but it was because of the FUD that they were spreading. the media and the whales have been lying their ass off about China banning lots of things they never even intend to ban. things like mining or even bitcoin itself and that always creates panic among the kids who are invested in the market and don't have the ability to read.

Now Korea? and Whats Next? many people keep spreading some lie's just to get there needs on bad way. And maybe they should act right since I think those Chinese Fuds is done and people get over unto it right now that's why we can see the price keep coming back and maybe heading on 5k$ each again.

And we shouldn't listen for this lies again anymore so that we will not get affected and be fooled by the liers.

The South Korean announcement of ICO ban which comes just weeks after China Announcement of banning ICO may imply another test to altcoin price. In contrast this will give advantage to the alt coins which already introduce in market to gain more investors since ICO was been banned to South Korea and China.
In either case, the ban will likely put short-term downward pressure on the ethereum price as investors sort out the details.

I too do not care but let's not forget that china is one of the major miners in blockchain in which why the price went down extremely. I know that now is different because it is slowly rising to 4k China's lose in btc is still a big rollback in the history of blockchain. But btc is gaining better supporters and we small traders dont really feel the change but for millionaires who invested in btc, they must've had issues to deal.

Australia has officially declared ICOs are securities.

Sorry unregistered ICOs will not be coming back. They’re going to zero.

I don't think that it will happen, South Korea is doing a good job on regulating Bitcoin it is for their own security and in order for them to prevent money laundering acts. It is better to regulate bitcoin rather than banning it.

What it says is "Korea will ban any kind of ICO." It is official from the Government.

Recall what happened when China banned all the ICO.
Did they say what is the reason or they are just riding the 'trend' of the Chinese Government?. Still South Korea supports bitcoin, I don't see anything wrong for Banning ICO, I just hope they will lift the ban and just regulate the ICOs it is also a great help since Korean Entertainment is Booming Worldwide, The Opportunity is still there, I just hope they use that opportunity.

That would be unlikely. Even the ICO bans is nothing more than rumors at this point, this could just be more FUD following China. Even if Korea bans icos I dint think it will have the same affect on BTC's price as much as the China ICO ban had.

Its official its all over the news

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/09/28/south-korea-bans-all-new-cryptocurrency-sales.html

http://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKCN1C408N

So most likely the most of the ICO to be raised are the scams/shady

It is not uncommon for the news to base their articles in unsubstantial or even falses sources. I don't trust them
