Despite turning 37 years old, Luka Modric is still showing high form and is an irreplaceable pillar at Real Madrid. While at the same age, many other class players have gradually lost their peak form, typically Ronaldo and even Messi. But that does not seem to happen with the Croatian midfielder, Modric still played the full 90 minutes in the matches and did not show any fatigue, did not fall behind. At the last World Cup, Luka Modric made a great contribution to helping Croatia win tickets to the semi-finals.

With his form intact and not looking "old", Modric is too deserving of a new contract at the Bernabeu, not a replacement.

I agree with you, majority of players at his age completely lost their format and this happen with almost all football players but we can see that modric still doing very well, a New contract will be a good decision in my opinion and the team will surely not regret it

Barcelona is the best team in La Liga. The team players have been able to strengthen the base of the team tremendously. Besides, the coach of the team, Xavi, is taking the team forward by arranging extraordinary talents.

We saw Real Madrid's dominance throughout the match. Real Madrid players had 65% of the ball possession. Besides, they attacked a lot. Madrid had 13 shots in the entire match. But they can't be made any on-target shots. The performance of Barcelona's defenders was outstanding in this match. I would say that Barcelona was able to win at the Santiago Bernabeu only because of the excellent performance of the defenders. Barcelona won but their performance was poor. Xavi was tactical in this match. Perhaps his aim was to draw the away match. But Barcelona is lucky. They managed to win.

Bellingham is a box-to-box midfielder and he is not a play maker like Modric. I am not sure that Real Madrid actually need Bellingham as they have Camavinga, Tchouameni and Valverde in midfield. However, it's difficult to find good play maker like Modric in modern football. Such players now barely appear and I have not seen any young player has potential to become new Modric.

Crazy match and strange to see barcelona to play like a bunch of cowards ... having 1 goal and pretty often delayed the game with xavi strange tiki-taka , just funny to witnessed it , the very unusual display from xavi .. very much like mourinho playing style in this game.

There is second leg ahead for real madrid to make a comeback though.

Although this match used to be a strong one in La Liga, Sevilla seems much different this season, as they have been struggling since the beginning, and they are still threatened of falling to the second league. On the other hand, Atletico looks like they improved a bit recently after a series of bad results.

Getafe CF VS Girona FC - DRAW

Yes Real Sociedad had around 73% ball possession, 27% more passing accuracy and way more attempts but they just couldn't score. That is not exactly the best preparation you can get when you are about to be against Roma in the Europa League.

In La Liga they will have a couple of mediocre opponents over the next few weeks and if they want to remain a contender for the Champions League, they need to win those games. That is why this is rather a loss today than a draw. Those are the points you want to win because that's the easiest way to defend your rank.

But this was of course not the only surprise this evening. The world of soccer had some unexpected outcomes to offer.
