Unfortunately I didn't really see that, when I saw their match yesterday, Madrid weren't even too insistent in the match and Barcelona was only focused on their defense especially for the second half which made me not like seeing Barcelona and Madrid during El Clasico.
In this case maybe I expected a little bit higher in the big games but they did it with a good strategy especially for Xavi because he knows that if you try to make up with a squad that can be said to be lacking then it won't go well for them.

Real Madrid dominated but had 0 on-target shots! That was ridiculous. It's Real Madrid who is the defending UCL champion, have blasted Liverpool despite conceding two early goals. But when it comes to Copa Del Rey and El Classico, they lose the rhythm. Nevertheless, it's the first leg we had. PSG took the lead too in the first leg in UCL last season with the same 0 on-target shot by Madrid; the rest is history. Madrid will destroy Barca in 2nd leg in Camp Nou.

Barcelona won this match only because of their strong defense. Barcelona's main striker Lewandowski was not present in this match due to an injury. And so Barcelona's attack was weak in this match. Even Barcelona did not try to attack much in this match. Barcelona played a defensive strategy throughout the match. And they only resisted Real Madrid's attacks. Barcelona's defenders performed well. They were able to successfully repulse each of Madrid's attacks. Madrid had 13 shots in this match. But they can't do even one on target. If Barcelona's defense improves along with their attacking performance, Barcelona will become unstoppable.

That's one of the qualities of a good coach, he is a good coach but then he lacks good players. I'm wowed because without some players he won Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabue. This ain't the first time Xavi has dealt with Real Madrid at that stadium though even without Barcelona. Ancellotti has work to be done else he'll be replaced. I'm not cool with Barcelona's consistency but if they sure get serious, they're winning the League.

I have the same thought. Real Madrid looked to dominate the match (especially in the first half) but unfortunately, they don't really have a good chance. We could say Barcelona was successful with their defensive strategy because Real Madrid really became frustrated and they did not record a single shot on target throughout the match. Real Madrid still has a chance in the Second Leg, but I think it will be a tough fight because Barcelona as the host will certainly put a lot of pressure on Real Madrid.

I remember when barcelona was also in the same position once it was facing chelsea a long time ago. It seems like that real madrid must also try to play even better in camp nou.

I think Xavi was really forced to play defensively because they don't have good squad to play in attack. This proved to be effective even though I found it very tiring. Losing Dembele, Pedri and Lewandowski was why Xavi did it, but it worked.

I've said that Barcelona wouldn't be so bad without those 3 players, but of course that only has to make Barcelona play strong in defense and take the few chances to win. In fact I almost thought Barcelona would have scored 2 goals if Kessie's shot had not hit Ansu Fati before the end, but winning an El Clasico match like this is very unusual for Barcelona. Due to Barcelona's excellent defence, Real Madrid were unable to have a single shot on target in their 13 attempts.

To be honest, I would say Barcelona's victory in this match was a fortune. this match, did not present an interesting fight. especially Barcelona who play more defensively, Xavi applies more counter-attack strategies. which in the end, this fight was quite boring even though I'm happy that in the end Barcelona won the fight. but, for Barcelona's defense. I admit, that they played quite impressive and very disciplined. Xavi's strategy of rotating Araujo and Kounde worked out exactly what he expected, Barcelona's defense was stronger than ever. unfortunately, Barcelona did not display anything special in this fight.
