I do believe you have to enter a credit card. It's because people were trying to scam the referral system. You don't have to be verified to use the app, but you won't be able to be involved in the reward system program if you don't.
it's incredible, no one tell us how to verify our account and take rewards! we just want to know the process, as we can't see nothing into wallet to let us verify and put our card.

You are always insured through your credit card company for all your CC purchases.
Hence the idea of using credit card, not linking it directly to your checking / bank account.
