If you want an efficient high-quality PSU, I recommend this one for comfortably powering 8 Klondikes:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7580853&CatId=2533
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/XFX-PRO-750-W-Black-Edition-Full-Modular-Power-Supply-Review/1695/13

Up to 92% efficient, fully modular, and top quality (Seasonic KM3 core). Watch out for similarly named older products that aren't as good.
I just want something cheap and good. I only have 2, so I don't need that much power. Also my electricity is free, so I don't really need high-efficiency.

What other equipment would I need? I paid for the hosting option because I didn't want to have to worry about setting everything up. So what do I need to buy? How would I set them up? Also how long would it take for him to ship it? Also how much do you estimate I will get back if I start mining as soon as it is shipped to me?

You just need a computer and depending on how many you ordered, a hub.  You can probably make around 0.1 in the next month per miner.
What kind of PSU do I need? Do I need anything else?

As I mentioned, read about 5-10 pages back, you"ll find info about those of us that have gotten our units & how we got em to work  Wink

Each miner will consume about 60 watts (approx.) @ 350MHz,which = about 5.5GH.Stock clock is 282MHz= about 45-50 watts. So use your best judgement on PSU selection with that info, depending on how many units you will be running.

Klondikes come with USB cable & for every 2 you ordered, you'll get a 6pin PCIE splitter  Grin

Here's more info:

Do I need to erase the current firmware to flash a K16 with the PicIt3?

Looking at one of my miners that does not accept shares, and the 5 pads for flashing on the back of the unit (the non-fan side as a reference), only 4 of them have mark on them that looks like they have been rubbed. One looks completely like virgin metal (never been touched by anything  Grin

Ergo, my conclusion is that this particular unit was not flashed appropriately (if at all), and that the firmware on it is at best, corrupt.

Does whatever is on the miner need to be erased first, or can I just overwrite it?

Thanks in advance.

Am I the only fool holding out for the hosting option to get up and running? I feel like such an idiot especially when reading that steamboat is probably mining with our miners as we speak. Is there any point in taking delivery at this stage? Would it be worth it to try mining PPC with them? Looking back it seems the best play was to simply hold bitcoin- I bought AM shares @1.9 now @ 0.4, labrat shares @0.15 now @0.05 and cant even trade them and of course this fiasco with steamboat (I was in batch 6 and he claimed I wasnt eligible for a chip refund-even though I made the request before his so called cut off date). Seems like the only smart move I made was buy a boatload of mastercoins. Im not whining by the way-just wishing I had been smarter. Whats the smart play for the future?  All comments and feedback appreciated.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT HOLD OUT, sorry about the caps but, I mined over $1,000 with these in november by taking them as is, I highly suggest taking them as is or your screwing yourself.  Even if you dont ROI, you can still take what you make from them and re-invest in something else, letting them sit and collect dust is like calling off sick with no sick days repetitively until your ultimately fired and have 0 income and are unable to collect unemployment due to fault of your own lol.  Can anyone else find a better example?

any ideas when he will have the final product we all paid for ?
steamboat is a scammer for me, even if he deliveres a uncomplete product as he is till now, the lack of comunication and respect for its customer puts him in the scammers bag for me ... and i dont buy that story he is busy to post an update ... yeh right ...

If you paid for chips and miners, and didn't get a chip refund, then you must request to have your miners sent to you AS-IS if you desire. Steamboat has apparently chosen to take the course of NOT shipping miners until either:

1. The USB boot loader and i2c support is completed. (DO NOT hold your breath for this to happen).

2. You request to have the miners shipped to you AS-IS. They are in a working condition - that is, they can hash BTC. They DO NOT however have the entire functionality you paid for.

I'll say this again for everyone since Steamboat won't bother to update this thread:
My PERSONAL opinion is this: If you DO NOT have the miners you paid for, explicitly email Steamboat asking for them to be shipped. If you do NOT do this, you will likely never get your miners.

You might ask yourself "Why isn't Steamboat shipping the miners the way they are - hashing but not perfect - when the boot loader code isn't worth waiting for? Why should I have to explicitly request them when waiting makes so sense whatsoever?"

One could then answer one's own question my thinking "Hmm, perhaps he's MINING with MY miners, hoping I'll just keep right on waiting for that boot loader code."

The miners have long been assembled. If you don't currently have yours, it's a virtual certainty that SB is hashing with them right now. He won't be the first company to do that. He won't even be the first Avalon assembler to do that.

Of course, He can refute these allegations when that next update comes out. Someone said he'll be doing an update "Real Soon Now"

Got mine in the mail today (took 14 days via USPS).

Must say the packaging is great as is the build quality. I've got it mining PPC at 300Mhz (drops out at 350 although its fine with BTC at this speed) which is ~ 1.5 coins a day.

It's a bit of a bittersweet ending for me. I find the lack of communication unforgivable but at least I can say I'm mining and recovering some of my investment.

Best of luck to those still waiting for a resolution, and many thanks to the member on here that helped me out with chips.

I have 8 of these miners for sale, 0.15 BTC each. I'm currently running 4 of them at 5.6 GH/s each (350mhz), and the other 4 are still new in box. PM me with questions.

how the heck did u get them ? i didnt received no email .. no nothing ...

You have to e-mail Steamboat and tell him to ship them with the most recent firmware available.  The USB bootloader and I2C chaining are currently nonfunctional.  Each K16 will require a USB port and if you want to change the firmware on the board you will need to buy a Pickit3 programmer.  In their current form they are perfectly functional.  The only thing I can really gripe about is if you use the PWM fan connector on the board you will have to disconnect/reconnect it every time you power cycle the unit.  If you use the included molex 12V connector I don't believe this is an issue.
