I went down to Steamboats office & helped assemble heatsinks on 25 units,my brother met me there & he did 25.My brother also went by last week & put some together too.

It takes awhile & Steamboat has all 16 chips working  Cool

Maybe I can get back there & do some more later this week  Wink

Steamboat is working on the USB update solution & firmware tweaks as of now, very soon,he'll be shipping  Wink

He's working his ass off guy's,believe it  Cool

What are the error rates? Is he shipping order by order or waiting until they are all done?

ATM,error rates are kinda high, like 20% I think he said,I may have misunderstood.I'm a hardware guy  Roll Eyes  Software confuses me  Sad

First in first out for shipping  Wink He's waiting to get those few things finished,no idea how long it'll take.He is busting his chops to get these out ASAP though  Cool

Without BKKcoins, hes got this far.He does have help,so he is not on his own completely  Wink

I would like to get my units now at the current state as long as it powers up and all 16 chips hash.
I do have a PickKit3 so the changing firmware would not be an issue for me.

Think. Positive. Thoughts.
Let's play speculate.

What Yifu is doing at this moment:
Ignoring any support tickets, promoting his "tradehill partnership" and outdated 1st gen devices in "new cases" through channels other than the forum. Relying on the intelligence of others to design Gen. 2 of Avalon. Enjoying his nice pile of BTC, thinking he's the best thing that has ever happened to BTC. His CHI is good.

What SB is doing at this moment:
Frantically shipping chips that don't require boards and rethinking this entire endeavor. The boards do not yet have an acceptable HW error rate because the board design was immature and nonces are colliding between the two banks of chips. Thinking about alternatives to deliver working products within two weeks™.

What Bkkcoins is doing at this moment:
Sitting in a Chinese jail cell after his family turned him over to Thai authorities when he stopped responding to their requests for a new floor.

If I had 700 chips in hand think I would try Ebay.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. Don't really want to deal with the hassle of Paypal though.

Check cryptothrift if you want to sell for a fixed price or as an auction, escrow is also available.

Apparently my first request came in a day late and there's simply not enough refund $$$ to go around.

So, when did you submit your request? Curious to see when this cut off was...

Does anyone have direct contact with Steamboat...as in a phone number or address?  Seems like someone stopped by to take pictures a while back.  Could we get that same person to pop back by there and ask him for an official update?  I never received an e-mail about refunds, the e-mail I sent through the website was never replied to, and I don't think there has been any communication in a few weeks now.  To top all of that off the forum was down for close to a week and we still haven't heard anything back from him.

I submitted the form on 9/17.

Is it confirmed that Bkk is gone for good, took the money, and left the community ?

I hope not, but it's starting to look that way. It doesn't make any sense to put that much work into a project then suddenly vanish.

I had nearly 700 chips from batch one and supplies ordered from Chris (Bkkcoins, developer of the K16), who disappeared with his customers' money and left the USB firmware unfinished, as well as the I2C bus inoperable.

Is it confirmed that Bkk is gone for good, took the money, and left the community ?

SB, can we please get 8-chip boards at a discount if HW error rates are not acceptable?

I was in contact with Zeke (helping Steamboat verify addresses for shipments) who answers at least one of two email addresses I've received updates from. He forwarded my second refund request to Steamboat, who denied me again. Apparently my first request came in a day late and there's simply not enough refund $$$ to go around. It's disappointing, too, because I had nearly 700 chips from batch one and supplies ordered from Chris (Bkkcoins, developer of the K16), who disappeared with his customers' money and left the USB firmware unfinished, as well as the I2C bus inoperable.

Steamboat said they're quickly trying to finish the firmware (so the damn things work with an acceptable error rate) which probably accounts for the lack of updates. He also said that finishing the I2C bus, which is required to chain multiple K16s together, is not a priority. So those with many K16s will need more USB cables and hubs. Chris left a lot of work to do when he disappeared, apparently.

Today I got a tracking email from a Steve Manos (I'm assuming that's Steamboat) notifying me that my chips have been shipped. If anyone's interested I'll be selling these at a deep discount as I have bills to pay. Thank god this saga is finally coming to a close.... a very bittersweet one at that. Hope you all get your K16s sooner rather than later.

Again, John K has his info. SB volunteered it, or at least that's what one of his thrice weekly updates claimed a while back.

Okay can someone please explain why some people have not had refunds?  I put my refund in - not sure when but guess it was a few days after the email - and have heard nothing since. So why am I not eligible and WTF happens now?  I get a paperweight because I didn't reply to my email quick enough?

I think what happens now is that we wait for Steamboat to give us an update. There are a LOT of questions, including why some people haven't gotten refunds, the status of the boards and manufacturing, and the status of the assembly refund requests.

Given that this forum has been down for a few days, I'D EXPECT STEAMBOAT TO GIVE US AN UPDATE VERY, VERY SOON. As in - he should have done so already. It's getting REALLY tiresome always wondering what the hell is going on, and begging for updates.
