Your country may be your worst enemy
Thanks for the list.

I have 1 question - about taxes.

Let's look at this example: If I live in Slovenia and open an account, let's say in https://www.bunq.com, should I declare the money I get in https://www.bunq.com?

And now second example: Still I live in Slovenia, I'm having an account in https://www.bunq.com and I decide to withdraw money only in Italy or Austria (<1h drive). And never ever have a single operation in Slovenia. Do I still need to declare it?

Anyone in similar situation?

You can't use bank accounts to hide money from tax authorities, especially within the eurozone. At least not any more. New incentives have made it so tax authorities can have access to bank account information regardless of territory.  See: https://www.oecd.org/tax/automatic-exchange/ and https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/business/tax-cooperation-control/administrative-cooperation/enhanced-administrative-cooperation-field-direct-taxation_en

It means you must declare the income you get on Bunk on your Slovenian tax forms...
There's no secrecy anywhere in the European Union, and even Switzerland is cooperating these days.

Well, I am confused I didn't see this. And more as @HostFat tried with Kraken and it worked for him. He was maybe lucky but I don't want to bet and trying my luck I want to be sure as I prefer to be clean and don't have any problem

Another thing about Payoneer.com
5. . Prohibited use of the service
Digital currency is listed in
https://pubs.payoneer.com/files/tc/TermsPayoneerGlobalPaymentService.pdf

Edit: I contacted them via the Chat and asked them directly, this is what they told me

Code:
Me: Hello,

I am interested to use Transferwise but I have a question:

On the FAQ it is written that we can't receive money from a bank account where the transfer won't bear your name
as the account holder (https://transferwise.com/help/article/2200390/creating-a-transfer/incompatible-accounts-and-currencies)

Here the FAQ is saying the opposite:

The great thing about your TransferWise Borderless Account is that you can use it just like a bank account in many
cases; for sending payments to other accounts or receiving payments from your clients or employer using the bank
details attached to your borderless accounts.

Yes, if you're being paid in Euros from a company in Europe, you can receive regular bank transfers into your
Borderless Account.

https://transferwise.com/help/article/2811590/borderless-account/how-is-this-different-than-a-bank-account

https://transferwise.com/help/article/2811625/borderless-account/can-i-receive-wages-into-my-borderless-account

So I am confused about this and would like to know
Thank you

Thanks for getting in touch! Just a moment...
Eliisa: hey!
my name is Eliisa
Me: Hello
Eliisa: Just a moment.
Alright, so it's actually different. The first FAQ link you sent me is about regular transfers. Eg. you just set up a
transfer from EUR to GBP, and the money is not coming from a Borderless acocunt
So basically if you open up a Borderless Account, it's basically like a virtual bank account you can hold with us.
You can open it in 3 currencies (EUR, GBP, USD) and receive local account details for these
and let's say you need someone to pay you from the UK (in GBP) you can just provide them your local UK
account details
and the money will show on your GBP Borderless account, :slightly_smiling_face:
Me: Ok let's say I open a brderless account EURO, Am I able to receive payment in Euros from a company?
Eliisa: yes you are :slightly_smiling_face:
Me: Thank you, another question:
Am I able to receive payment from a company like Kraken.com which is related to Bitcoin?
Eliisa: I'll need to double check that for you. Would it be alright if I send you a follow up e-mail on this?
Me: I will be very happy if you can check about this yes
Eliisa: Alright, not a problem! :slightly_smiling_face:
Me: Thank you so much for your time. Do I need to give you my email, or you can get it from this Chat?
And last question, Transferwise is a UK company or Deutch?
Eliisa: ___________.com <-- is this the e-mail I can reach you on?
TransferWise is a UK company
Me: Yes this is the correct email
Eliisa: super

So, if we want to receive for example a transfer in £ in our Transferwise account in €, we can't unless the account sender bear our name
(then why not receive a transfer in £, to our account in £... it makes more sense)

But there is no problem to receive a payment in € to our Transferwise account in €

Am I getting this correctly? Because she said "The first FAQ link you sent me is about regular transfers" I am not sure what do they call "regular"

:feeling me dumb:

I did send 5 euro from Kraken to transferwise, to the Borderless account, and it worked.
I think that their FAQ is old, or maybe I was lucky.

You were lucky I think. As today checking their FAQ carefully this is what I found:
Not only their faq says they don't support transfers from or to Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, directly or indirectly (as posted an user before)... But also they can't receive money from a bank account where the transfer won't bear your name as the account holder https://transferwise.com/help/article/2200390/creating-a-transfer/incompatible-accounts-and-currencies

If I remember you also need to do video call (on skype) as a verification process.
Thanks. For N26, it wasn't a Skype call, but from within the app, and they are very thorough when they inspect your card. For Sogexia you just upload your documents.

Do any of those services in the OP that offer a personal IBAN not require an initial transaction from another bank account with the same name to verify the account? For example, MisterTango and Paysera require this for level 3 verification.

If I am not wrong Sogexia and N26 don't need an initial transaction. But you need to upload your id card, proof of address. N26 doesn't accept all ID cards so depending on your country you may need to send your license drive. If I remember you also need to do video call (on skype) as a verification process. I didn't find anything on Transferwise FAQ about this, other than a verification needed once you reach the limit (which is quite high)

Slava Ukraini!
Paysera is big, with many satisfied customers in the Baltic states. If you buy a bus ticket at

https://ecolines.net/

You'll see the choice of "credit card" "Paypal" or "Paysera".

Yes, Paysera is quite popular in Baltics. But I don't like them, because it's not bitcoin friendly service:
Quote
According to the rules for usage of Paysera system, clients are prohibited from managing unlicensed virtual currencies (e.g. bitcoin). Therefore, transfers to systems which exchange such currencies are not performed
BTW, few days ago I was asked to upload photos of my ID and selfie with holding ID card, despite that that I already had uploaded it more than a year ago.

@HostFat have you tried to transfer from transferwise.com to your bank account successfully? Without verification ID? Their limit look pretty high before they ask ID document

Paysera is A SCAM - STAY AWAY GUYS!
Sent them my documents. For level 3 they also want a bank transfer initiated from your bank account.
Sent the transfer to their bank account (Paysera LTD). Today they received the transfer and retards claim that its not from my personal account.
The Paysera representative lady was super rude and I told her that I only initiated the transfer from my bank account, however funds are deposited in their group IBAN - not my individual and I have no clue what they received. We kept arguing until i gave up (I asked multiple times for explanation because I am sure the transfer was from my personal account). Only 5 minutes later I called my bank very fed up and spoke to a lovely lady, she double confirmed for me the transfer has been initiated from my personal account and from my behalf/name.
SO Paysera is SCAM (you can find multiple scam reports on Internet) and their representative persons for Bulgaria are very rude.
They might try to reply here and give some excuse, but I would advice you to STAY AWAY from their scam! At least I won't risk my funds with them.

Update:
After in-depth inspection I found Paysera credited my account with funds from some randomer and from a bank account which does not belong to me and it is even in different local bank! I asked them what will happen if next time they credit me 1000 EURO from some randomer, but they act like its not their fault!
What a fucking cunts! How should I explain to National Revenue Agency (for example) fund transfers from people I don't know. And how shitty and bad must be a company (semi-bank) to deposit money into random account and act like its not their fault! This is disgusting!

Paysera restricted my account with them and held my funds for weeks. I contacted them more than 10 times. They finally told me to send my bank account to withdraw my 1000+ euros. They never sent me proof of the sent funds and when I requested their support ignored me on livechat. It is over 7days and I still havent received my funds. Please tell me the authorties in charge here. I need my money please help me.

I installed the Revolut app on my smartphone, I thought I would order the card a few days later, but I've got notified that Revolut wanted to access my contacts, to inform them about how great their service is. So I quickly uninstall that app. Too intrusive. They don't respect my privacy.

Since I don't expect to hear from them again I will go ahead and post my email correspondence with Mistertango support (timeline is from the bottom up, names and addresses have been removed...).

Hello again

"Borrowing" a friends smartphone would compromise their privacy and security just so I can get verified.  You could easily get the documentation you need from a PC on the Internet, so I don't see any reason why you really need all these permissions on a smartphone...

      Location

      Phone
         read phone status and identity

         view network connections
         pair with Bluetooth devices

Dear Support department

I started to open a MT account, and saw I needed a smart phone to confirm my ID.  Then I created a support case to ask if it is possible to use the service with a PC instead of a smart phone, but when I try to check the status of the support case the web page does not recognize my login credentials (which I also think is strange!).

Do I need a smart phone to use this service?

A question for the forum -

Are these services truly "free" if you have to surrender your privacy and compromise your security to get them?  Roll Eyes

I opened a Mistertango account and I was very happy with the procedure. I am not royalty or a relative of the pope or the Sultan of Brunei so I am grateful and appreciate for the minimal effort and time required to open this account. I was neither asked to climb Mt Everest nor swim across the Pacific.

Positively identifying a client is a bank's core mandate and requirement. Lithuania is part of the EU and therefore observes strict KYC procedures.

The nerve and the audacity. Clients who throw tantrums or play the customer-is-king drama card are best contained quickly and advised to crawl back to that same hole they hibernated in or time-travel back to that age of no smartphones. They want this no-fee account. They want to be served in the year 2017, the age of smartphones. They want a means to move money from A to B. They want the free MasterCard. They want a bitcoin-friendly banking service. They want everything. But...

"Just don't ask me to do any work"

And then the bomb. The fellow thinks he is surrendering his privacy and compromising his security by signing up with a bank properly registered with Lietuvos Bankas, the Bank of Lithuania. He basically wants, additionally, to use a PC or some other device that will allow him (like many here) to bypass the very system which protects the bank from fraudulent applications. In his arrogant way of communicating with the bank, he makes every effort to convince the bank that HIS preferred way of doing it is the only way he wants it done. (try doing that with Citibank or Deutsche Bank or Credit Suisse or Bank of America...)

Nah, this strategy won't work. It's either you are truly throwing a tantrum OR you are attempting to fraudulently bypass Jumio, the intelligent identification system the bank has in place to thwart identity thieves.

One is best distanced from such people. Thus the third person talk.

This was posted so that people here can make an informed choice. If you like the service and are comfortable with your bank having access to basically everything you do and keep on your smart phone then great, enjoy. Your opinion doesn't entitle you to the righteously indignant ad hominem attack though.

While it's clear that you don't think that the bank should trust me, maybe you can also explain why I should trust a bank I don't know with my phones precise location (GPS and network-based) at all times, the ability to read my phone status identity and Photos/Media/Files, to read modify or delete the contents of my USB storage, to take pictures and videos with my phone camera, and all of this with full network and bluetooth access? Even if I trust a bank with all of this data that I no longer have any control over, then who is to say that the information will never be hacked, sold or leaked by insiders?

We are talking about a debit card that gets tanked up with my own money, so it's not like the bank is taking on any real risk here. Uploading a copy of my official ID, a recent picture, and some utility bills should be enough. The rest is no one else's business.

He might be throwing a tantrum but you are expressing something interesting too: Stockholm syndrome towards the control freaks which are politicians and their banker shills (or the other way around).
The amount of KYC/AML/"compliance" nonsense exploded over the recent years (especially after 9/11 and the "war on terrorism" that followed) and continues to grow like cancer. These days banks essentially want you to be a salaried serf in some preferably large and well-known corporation to be "compliant." Everybody else triggers all kinds of red flags in their "risk profiling" systems. It has nothing to do with preventing fraud or terrorism funding. It is just that the cost of "compliance" has grown enormously for banks, so many of them do the simple thing: expect everyone to be "standard."

In addition, part of this are efforts to maximize theft ("taxation"):
