i feel like btc is better because it just has a lot more awareness and popularity than ltc. merchants are starting to accept btc but i haven't seen a single merchant accepting ltc.

Ltc just doesnt have the popularity that btc does

LTC doesn't offer much more than Bitcoin. It will always be just a bit improved copy of Bitcoin. On the other side, Bitcoin has a first mover advantage that will give it a long term advantage over all coins, not just LTC.

LTC has also faded into a oblivion with all other alts this year, since we are currently in a crypto depression. Also, latest pump and dump of the Chinese group has done damage to Litecoin. I am not saying the same is not happening in Bitcoin, but at least nobody admits it publicly.

and it's the best among the one with the highest popularity, with doge maybe, but not anymore

especially now it's better to focus in bitcoin and nothing else, other coins have not reason of existing, now that every good test was done about cryptoworld

Question without answer. For what you must choose? Bitcoin is superior in every kind of way. It is the original. All the other coins are clones. Even for using, bitcoin have no comparison with any other coin (which is the most probably thing that can be compared between both).

Litecoin really came to life before its halving, but now, it seems like it's going to go back to its old self. It's going to keep dropping in price, flatting out at some point above $0.7, I think. That is, unless it manages to recover in about 2 months (which is a timeframe I arbitrarily came up with). Bitcoin is far more useful, therefore, the one with a brighter future.

I am so confused.

What is better?  Which one do you guys recommend more?

Thank you for your time
Both are good.Litecoin is a long term investment while bitcoin can give you returns in short period of time

I disagree.

Litecoin is good for short term profits, like happened recently in the last $300 break, but in the long run it is falling more than BTC.

In the long run, if any crypto reaches moon, will be more than likely BTC, and not LTC or other alt

i think you got that backward

LTC will become increasingly less important as newer better alts are created

BTC will always be important because of many many factors.

new alts will always be more risky, simply because they are new and untested.

Litecoin can become slowly the "trading" altcoin. There is at least a trading site I know in which is much easier to move around using litecoin, as doing sells and buys in Bitcoin has a higher minimum.

I feel that traders can adjust prices more with a lower value coin that is still as fractional as Bitcoin, and can be transferred quicker.

Sure, there are other alts, but they do not have near the same popularity as litecoin.

better to use? or better to invest?
for me its the common answer BITCOIN... litecoin is more risky if you will ask me..
unlike bitcoin.. i think it will really go up.. but you can also use litecoin for trade... more of bitcoin users doing it.

I guess you would have to define "pressure". A lot of the pressure, publicly at least, has been artificially created.

Litecoin, whatever its merits are, isn't bearing the weight of varying expectations. It's mined, traded on exchanges, a handful of merchants are accepting it and that's it.

There aren't any separate financial instruments in the works, there aren't heavyweight holders from beyond cryptoland that we know about and dark markets don't use it.

It can happily tick away with a harmonious community because it's not on the front line being battered from all directions. If LTC suddenly became the daddy then all of the same arguments, vested interests, political wranglings and nefarious actors would descend upon it.

It's very easy to say things are smooth when everyone's on the same page. If it stopped hiding in BTC's shadow and started leading the way that would grind to a halt.

Litecoin will do what it needs to do in order to scale when the time comes, and I can guarantee you that it will be much smoother than what is going on with Bitcoin right now.

LTC will never be better in bitcoin.. when stress test happen in LTC can become dead coin or no value..
as of now LTC dont experience Pressure thats why you can say that run smoothly..
but when stress come value of it can go lower and lower until no one use..
bitcoin value dont go lower because it high and even stress test come price of it cant lower than LTC..
but think if the bitcoin price is like LTC and experience stress test..do you think it will survive?

Do you think it would be any different if Litecoin was in Bitcoin's position? It's very easy for things to go smoothly if there's no pressure.

I guess you would have to define "pressure". A lot of the pressure, publicly at least, has been artificially created. With that said there potentially could be a need to do something now, but like politics there seems to be extremes in the debate. Personally I support Jeff's BIP100 solution with the expectation that it gives a little more time to research and discuss for more permanent solutions.

Pressure = same usage than Bitcoin, same stress tests, same govs banning it, etc.

I wonder what would happen with LTC if they stress test it(don't forget to include it in your future paper)

I will say this, I've been researching all of this with what little time I have and plan to release a paper on the block size. I was hoping to do it before the scaling Bitcoin workshop for submission but unfortunately it will not be ready by then. This also serves a dual purpose since i'm sure I will be intimately involved when the decision is made for Litecoin.

Also those involved in the Scaling Bitcoin Workshop are involved with Litecoin as well. People can hate on other communities as much as they want but when push comes to shove we still believe that we are all in this together and must help each other out. Bitcoin, Litecoin, or any other crypto out there.
