I used a lot of symbolism in the book and on each design. The roulette wheel symbolises
each million coin mined. The 4 millionaires are playing at the wheel. The 1 in the centre
represents the the first it also represents Bitcoin being the first and its value being one
day 1,000,000 hence the six 0's at the bottom which also are a joke to those who thought,
think Bitcoin is going to zero.

Its a good bit cryptic nonethless and probably nobody would read it that way.

Dane did you do a video of your page and how the light affects it by any chance?

Again it sounds great what you did.

Ok, I have finished my page of the book and it is on its way to Geo.

Yes, it was great to see someone else's work.  (I imagined those slats to be either a window, or, where the poker chips are seated by the croupier).

just a slight nit pick, did you sign cryto or crypto I confess, I can't tell.
Lol, the P is very small you just cant see it, lol. In my defense this is the first time ive autographed as CGD.

Regarding the picture.  I wasnt even sure if it was suppose to be a roulette wheel. I think the slats at the bottom are for chips maybe. I thought for a minute about freehanding chips in but decided against it. This picture really pops in person. The gold, silver, copper, and emerald are all acrylic metallic. The wheel sparkles like crazy. It looks good in the book but distinctly different from other things people have done

That looks really great Cryptogreatdane, brilliant effort and  very interesting choice of media.
Gold and Silver always works, I have used them myself on my own book. Love the sparkle idea
too, would love to see it in the flesh and the same for all the other pages.

I did encourage everyone to post a pic of their own work at the start but not everyone chose
to do so - which is ok too.

Anyway, great to hear its on its next leg of the journey, getting close to the finale too!

Ok, I have finished my page of the book and it is on its way to Geo. He will update the thread once it arrives. Here is a picture of my art page. I chose the least intricate page to do. This picture does not capture the beauty of my picture. I used metallic acrylic and some really shiny gold and silver. Also the wheel has red and black sparkle paint. I looks really good in the light. This book is really great. Every page looks amazing and you can tell that a different artist did each page. Just my opinion but I think when this book is finished it needs to be shared with the community prior to sale. I think you will get higher bids if people can see what they are buying. I don't understand the mindset of keeping it hidden and letting the buyer decide if they want to share it.

Where is the book now?  Is it finished?

Perhaps it would be best for the book to be returned to aoluain so that he can make a decision as to what becomes of the book and we can have a side discussion thread to make suggestions as to the book's fate.

Ah Timelord there isnt any point in sending it back to me from the U.S, I might have to
send it back there myself anyway depending on who wins it!

snip

I have book. Just putting finishing touches on my picture. I will mail to geo on Monday. I think there are 3 or 4 more pages to be colored. It looks great. Finished product will be spectacular. I may post my picture on monday

Great news Dane! Looking forward to seeing your page if you do decide to post,
but of course there is no pressure to do so.

Everyone who participated incurred a cost of postage and I dont think anyone expects
compensation for that. I just thought a raffle with paid tickets would be a nice gesture
to the participants to have the proceeds divided equally between them.

I guess when money is involved things get complicated.

Whoever owns the book eventually gets to show it off if they like, they can sell it too.
I just wanted to do something different for the collectibles board and create a community
project around MY first BTC project.

The idea of privacy was to protect each artists work while the project was live, you could
always share your own work but not other participants work!

So where are we at now, I guess Cryptogreatdane still gas the book?

apologies for not coming back to this thread sooner

Aoluain + doblezero - that's a cool idea too. I'd kinda feel bad winning it though since I saw most drawings. Tongue

I'm sure whoever wins it will scan/photo and share, but it also begs the further question:

What can the winner ultimately do with it? Sell it? Auction it? Raffle it? I guess you can't protect downstream, but it just came to mind Huh

I'm confused by your statement. are the drawings not going to be shared on the forum when its done? I always assumed that when it was done there would be a post that showed the book to the forum? Possibly shared at the raffle? Why are the coloring pages top secret?

I dont think the intent is to keep it hidden but rather to showcase it once it is fully completed.

Well of course, I want nothing more than for the whole world to see it, but my question was more about what "the final owner" would/could/should do with it sorta thing.

I wish we had our own bitcointalk museum. Cheesy

My understanding was whoever ultimately acquired the book ultimately had the final say on the images, but aoluain has always said he didn't want to see the book (or something like that). While it was a work in progress..

(Thought bubble time) Surely the sale of 49 books pays for the 50th book and anyone participating in the colouring pays their own postage (I know I did)

I wouldn't imagine an auction would cover the cost of participants receiving a complementary copy of the next book. (See my previous comments weeks ago concerning contributors to the next book).

I'm not sure either, but I think we will figure it out. Wink I think we all paid for postage (extra in my case as well for signature delivery etc) so to me that's just no big deal whatsoever - I don't feel like I'm owed anything personally, I felt it was an honor to do it!  Smiley
