Coin-1, please disregard my previous statement. I think it was too early for me at that hour, I didn't have enough coffee and I read Rikafip instead of Rizzrack. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I also have a small correction: It says Rizzrack, not Rikafip, became Sr Member, which is accurate (yay me!)
Even though he ranked up quite recently seems he was not added in Coin-1's last update. Anywayz... congrats Rikafip on reaching hero status.

One small erratum here, if I may: Rikafip becane Hero member, not Sr. Member I take this ocasion to congratulate him for reaching this rank and also all the other members which ranked up!

Exactly. nullius crossed the 100, 250 and 500 merit thresholds on January 31, February 7 and 26, 2018, respectively.

I noticed that nullius is rated 6th in all the lists of users who received enough merits to rank up to Full Member, Sr. Member and Hero Member. Perhaps this is his lucky number.

But it is great ro see that your contributions to the forum and to spread Satoshi's words are well appreciated. I am happy to see myself as your top merit fan! Your bragging is not unfounded. I remember in early 2018 you earned hundreds of merit in a couple of months, but then you were inactive on the forum for a quite long time. I think you could cross this threshold much faster. Good work anyway!

Thanks.  By a simple count across my three active periods since the introduction of the merit system, it took a total of not more than 310 days’ worth of real activity to achieve this:


The lucky merit landed on a post which took me way too long to write, edit, and fancily format.  It covers briefly (!) as practicable (!!) a relatively obscure book which draws East-West cultural comparisons, my agreements and disagreements with Solzhenitsyn, and the cultural relevance of ancestor-worship to posterity.  I did not realistically expect to be much lauded for that.  (Preview-page edit:  My prediction was a wee bit off the mark:  It received another merit whilst I was writing this!)

I brag about my crossing of the all-earned 2000 merit threshold only to rub it in, for in the time since early January:

• I have had the opportunity to elaborate more about my opinions on controversial subjects.  (I did touch on such topics before, but perhaps nobody noticed.)  I would be far from the only one to have remarked that this can induce some people to be biased against meriting posts that they would otherwise deem meritorious.  As an advocate of free speech and freethinking, I have refused to stay strictly within the narrow confines of what can nowadays be called “popular”, or even “socially acceptable”.  The merit system does not affect my decision-making process as such; but it provides insight into the behaviour of others, both for better and for worse.
• At least one known merit source has publicly alleged that she has me ignore-listed.  (Oh, why do some idiots fantasize that that may bother me?)
• I have made very few posts in the technical forum, which has always been the most reliable place for me to earn merits.
• You, TMAN, seem not to be here to express your refined taste for my prolific fan art for a kitty-cat who is now nonexistent. :-(

Although my merit earning rate has slowed, and my merit/activity ratio will probably plunge after I start taking my retirement plans seriously, it does go to prove that thus far, at least, quality still trumps all else.

Yes, you fulfilled your promise. I'm not surprised you earned 1000 merits so quickly. I have read your threads about cypherpunks and the history of Bitcoin and found them very laconic and informative. I guess soon you will be included in the list of users who have over 2000 merits.

We're both engaged in Sisyphus role, dear fillippone. On our LONG ways to reach the necessary activity for becoming Legends You are head away of me though, but still, the waiting is long. However, we are not the first on this path and (hopefully) not the last. If others made it, we can do it as well!

Don’t worry Gazeta, grinding activity is way less fun than grinding merits, but it’s a game of attrition! I know I am not good at it either!

Oh well... merits weren't an issue for me as well I obtained them in less than a year (357 days, precisely). But yes, the wait for obtaining the activity is huge. It passed 1 year from my first merit and I have to wait at least 1 more year from now on (for reaching 775 activity) and a maximum of 1 year and 8 months (for reaching the 1030 activity, if I'll have that bad luck to rank up at the maximum required activity). Patience is a virtue though...

Yep... the merits have been achieved for Legendary.. and also largely the number of posts seem to be enough too..  because in order to become Legendary, you have to average at least 14 posts per every two week period, which you seem to have achieved (even currently - ahead of schedule).

So, surely the only matter left is to gain activity points, and for you, it appears that so long as you post at least one post every two weeks, then you will have reached the requirements of the legendary lottery which can happen anywhere between 2 years and 3 years of the beginning of your account.. which would be activity levels of somewhere in the range of 728 and 1092 (something like that).  Even though merits were not an issue for me, I am pretty sure that I was over 1,000 activity points when I finally ranked up through the Legendary lottery.

My saga inside this topic started on November 29th, 2019, when Coin-1 announced I was promoted to Full Member. It happened after 1 month since I earned my first merit (on October 25th, 2019):


I found about the existence of the topic a bit later, but when I found it I made a promise. And Coin-1 was there to encourage me!


In January 2020 cryptoaddictchie gave me a challenge, which motivated me a lot:


In February this year I had already enough merits for being Sr. Member, but not enough activity. Coin-1 mentioned me again and I also told him that I'll keep my promise. And he remembered


I achieved the 250 merits for being Sr. Member in 109 days:


Less than 2 months later, in April, I was promoted to Sr. Member and I had already 500 merits necessary for Hero, which I earned while being still a Full Member. Coin-1 mentioned this achievement as well:


In June 2020 cryptoaddictchie correctly anticipated the inevitable :


And I replied to him that I'm still on-track with the challenge:


At the last update, from October 2020, Coin-1 announced this great milestone I reached in less than a year:


So I championed this account as I said! I kept my promise. Of course, I won't stop here, as at the moment I am just a Sr. Member and in order to finally become Legendary I still need between 1 year and 1 year and 8 months of activity. But the merits for this position are achieved, with two ranks ahead.

Thank you cryptoaddictchie for the challenge from January! It motivated me a lot.

Thank you Coin-1 for keeping this log up to date. It's a great motivation for any user to see his name here. Maybe it motivates each one to keep improving more and more and to see his name here again. To be honest, I can't wait to see my name here for the next time, when I'll officialy become a Hero. It will happen in January 2021.


I also want to take this occasion and congratulate nakamura12 for his recent rank up. He is the second person from the entire forum which gave me a merit. And I won't forget that! Keep the good contribution, nakamura, and you will keep ranking up in no time! Congrats!

The user who has 2000 merits is undoubtedly a Self-made Legendary, so in my opinion this notch should be mentioned. Then I used the logic of increasing the requirements for the merits of Hero Member and Legendary, so I just multiplied this number by 2 in the same way. Consecutive doubling looks simpler.
