Damn! I missed that! And I missed this post although I am a close observer of this topic and I take any occasion to congratulate people which ranked up, especially the ones I know closer or the ones I had collaborated with... and I'm doing that since I first noticed this topic, 2 years ago. But, somehow I missed Coin-1's lattest mention of your name here, Csmiami, and I feel very bad about that.

But seeing it now, I am more than happy to tell you sincere "Congrats!" as you fully deserve your actual rank. Your contributions to the forum brought much wisdom and knowledge and I truly appreciate all your work here. I also thank you once again for the hand of help you gave me a while ago, during that investigation I performed (and which I did not finish yet ). All in all, it is great to have another user with a great reputation reaching the ultimate rank!

We sort of already know how some a certain member profile will try to milk the forum out of... everything that can be turned into money (merits in this case). It's not really something new, but it's fun to see how creative people can eventually get in order to do so, and how the rest will follow (if not multi-accounts).

On a more personal note; thank you Coin-1 for the congratulation! I hadn't yet posted a thank you message because I didn't consider myself to have actually reached Legendary rank. I did want to surpass the 1000 earnt merits before I could start calling myself that, and even if it took a few weeks after the fact, it's now officially been done.

I remember that topic of yours and I congratulate you for your achievement. But it's a huge difference between "from zero to hero" vs "from zero to legend" Such thread is indeed understandable, as you obtain the highest rank possible, which comes also after a very long time of waiting... It's not that the waiting time for Hero is too short, but compared to the threshold needed for Legendary is way, way shorter... hundreds of days shorter. Not needed to mention also the difference regarding the required merits.

This is why I think such a thread, highlighting such a performance, like reaching Legendary rank, represents a very nice memory for each user and it's understandable why (almost) each one likes to share the experience through a topic in the forum. What I wrote earlier, about the "zero to hero hysteria" was referring also to the hysteria which seemed to touch many other lower ranked members, which were also creating similar threads (how I became Member / Full Member etc / My road to Sr. Member / I just got my first merit and I ranked up! / and so on and so forth) and I think you remember also that period It was like everybody which ranked up was creating a thread on this matter (indeed I am exaggerating here ).

I, on my side, considered to be useless to create any such topic prior reaching Legendary rank. Indeed, I respectfully thanked, with several occasions, to those which ranked me up -- and this is a gesture which I considered to do so from politeness and for expressing my appreciation. But about writing topics after reaching each new rank -- I never thought to do that. But I'd like to write such a thread when I'll become Legendary, thus it'll remain as a nice memory here...

I didn’t create a zero to hero thread, but I did create a zero to legend thread, and even hosted a giveaway. It was a lot of fun.

Some people that put a lot of effort into their time at the forum are proud of being able to rank up to the highest rank. The overwhelming majority of legendary accounts were grandfathered into their rank. Very few people that were not legendary when the merit system was implemented are not legendary members today, even if they have the required activity and have remained active.

Awww, fillippone, amico mio, I did not know about that topic of yours. Now, by seeing it, I only realize once more that great minds think the same!


Indeed, this is an impediment and it can hardly (if not impossible) be avoided by those which became Legendary members before the merit system. However, setting high goals is up to each individual and doing so, each can come close to their wishes and, overall, improve themselves. Some wish to have at least 1:1 merits vs posts ratio. Some wish to have 1:1 merits vs activity ratio. Some want to obtain Legendary rank. Some want to obtain even just 1 merit, to not be newbies anymore. No matter how others see the respective goal - as being easily achievable or not - only the fact that you proposed yourself a certain ambition may help you better yourself each day. And this is something to appreciate, no matter if we talk of new members or old ones...

Don't forget also all the dozens creating threads like "From zero to hero" It was like a mass hysteria at some point with this kind of threads. I noticed though they are not so often nowadays. Nevertheless, chapeau to those which ranked up!

Actually this time it has been more monotonous than the last time I ranked up, as it was something expected and had the merits. It has been kind of routine but with a slight positive surprise for being earlier than expected.

The last time I ranked up I was more excited because I didn't expect it at all and LoyceV helped me. I think that was a turning point for me on the forum and from that I became a better and better poster. I don't consider myself a bad poster before, I think I was an OK/decent poster, but from that point on I improved a lot.

If we compare before that day when I was earning merits at a slower pace than my activity, now I am earning more than 50% more merits than activity.

Little by little it has been a positive snowball: later on I was accepted in the Best Change campaign. Then I was put in DT. I think these are all things that give you confidence and reinforce that more and more you make a positive contribution to the forum.

Congratulations to you both, @Poker Player and @igehhh! Your new ranks are well deserved.

You both are clearly appreciated for your contributions to this forum, and I enjoyed reading many of the comments you posted. I consider you a well-informed and well-intended individuals, and your words and thoughts are certainly noted and respected. You deserve recognition and accolades for what you have done so far.

My congratulations. To be honest, I did not pay attention to your rank, not doubting that you have been taking the hero's place for a long time.
Why are you so humble, and do not create a congratulatory theme, as the current "heroes" who have reached 10 merits, and demand their recognition (just kidding) do?
My respect, I am sure that with your posts, you surpass many legends. 

Lol. I was surprised to see you rank up to Hero, so I immediately checked my profile to see whether I rank up too since my Activity points were the same as yours, and I was planning to rank up in the first week of December. All this while, I had 500 Activity points in my thoughts. Congratulations.

I have ranked up just today.

I thought I needed 500 activity, and, therefore, I didn't expect to rank up until two weeks from now, but today I was pleasantly surprised. At first I thought it was a mistake, but I checked in the Merit & New Rank Requirements thread that I only needed 490 activity and 500 merit.

Since I am already active in this forum since 2014 (sometimes more, sometimes less), I am of course very happy about the "Legendary-Rank".
Faster than I would have expected it myself! 

I would also like to give special thanks to @Ratimov here again.
Since he gave me the last push, which I needed to rank up.

I wish everyone else continued success in reaching the next rank and many more good forum posts for the community... 

_BlackStar, you should know that actmyname has reported at least 50 of my previous post to a moderator for deletion, so I thought it was perfectly natural for him to give me that neutral tag and blacklist me. As I said before, the actmyname neutral tag in my profile never made me weak because at the right moment I got great motivation from him to change my direction for the better so today you have seen my rank to Legendary.

I'd probably ask actmyname humbly to consider removing my tags and name from that blacklist though I've never felt really angry with him at all. Thank you actmyname, you are the first reason why my rank to Legendary. I thank so for all forum users "especially The Pharmacists" who have helped me a lot through the long process to reach this rank so that my motivation to be a useful user is maintained.

Huh.  I didn't know actmyname had tagged him as a spammer--not that would have influenced my decision to help ShowOff out with merits, because he's obviously improved his posting habits since that feedback was given in January.  I haven't looked at ShowOff's posts from that period, but if they were bad enough to deserve that feedback, then I'd say the leopard has changed its spots in this case.

That's obviously true in ShowOff's case as I just mentioned, but that example is an exception to the rule, not the norm.  Most shitposters who've come here to earn money from bounties or whatever tend to remain shitposters for the rest of their time on the forum (at least that's what I've observed).

Jokes apart, the merit/activity ratio is an old idea of mine, but long ago it was dismissed, as many users have a high activity because they were in the forum well before the merit system was introduced. Others had “free merits” in the same event.
So there is a number of reason why the ratio can be tilted on one or the other direction without signalling anything on the quality of the poster.

Thank you, I'm not concerned about my activity and just let things happen as they do. As you can see, your growth is quite impressive. I noticed you a few months ago and you're already one of the fastest growing users with low Activity points and high merits. You'll be a Full member in no time. Continue to do what you enjoy and do good job, and everything will come to you naturally.

You are right, because the spammer label assigned by a forum user ^{[DT or other User]} on a profile via a neutral or negative tag does not fully prove that the user will forever remain a spammer. I can take a lesson from ShowOff which was previously considered a low quality poster ^[spammer] so some of his posts were deleted. He managed to change the direction of his journey in the forum so that the target he set was achieved. I hope that all the spammers whose posts I have reported so far can also take lessons from him so that they too can reach the targets that may have been set.

igehhh, you just have to wait for your activity to come naturally before your rank changes to Hero. You're a user who have merit exceed the number of activity, so maybe you can still relax with it. Sorry for your personal problem, hope you can resolve it peacefully.

My goal of 800 merits was set a few months ago when I only had 350 merits; now I have 712 merits and only need 88 more to meet my year's goal; I may or may not meet my goal before the end of the year; however, I've come a long way and I don't want to stop; however, we never know what tomorrow holds for us. For the past few months, I've been a little preoccupied with some real-life family matters, so I haven't had much time to clean up the forum as I usually do.


If someone disagrees with your posts or misunderstands them and labels you a spammer, that's their fault; nonetheless, the disparity between his Activity points and merits demonstrates that showOff was never a spammer and that not everyone's view on you is valid.

I see you have reached 1000 merit and your rank has become Legendary. As one of the users who is listed as a spammer then I salute your desire and persistence to improve the quality of your posts so that you can rank up to Legendary. Please accept my congratulations and keep up the quality of your posts.

When goals have been set, maximum effort should be one way to achieve success. Without maximum effort then I'm sure we will not achieve it because merit is not a miracle that does not require users to try and keep trying.

Afaik, merit will never prevent any of us from rank up unless that user is truly incapable of posting useful for forum and other users. So this should be the basic motivation why we must keep trying without having to complain so that only time will answer this success.
 
igehhh, set higher goals so that you will continue to strive to achieve them better. I'm sure you will get what you want because you have the ability to do it. I will soon reach Legendary rank and only separated by 2 merit, my target will soon be reached after years of struggling and waiting for the result.
