Well, the only reason I think why lottery is harder to win than sports betting is probably due to the fact that lotteries always have alot of participants buying millions if not billions of lottery tickets, coupled with the fact that lottery is a complete luck based game, so at the end of the day, it is only those that are lucky that end up winning.

Sports betting on the other hand is a bit of knowledge and a bit of luck based game, your knowledge of sports is what will increase your chances of wining a bet, while luck sees that you actually wins the bet.

I will rather try to take that little chance that can turn my 1-3$ into $100 than not doing it at all, and if I lose the 1-3$, it's probably little and nothing to me compared to what a $100 one-time win will be to me. It's when I continuously keep on doing this without being lucky to explore that little probability that I will be left with the option of running a rough calculation of what I have spent, and if your very high, then I can call it a stopping point.

But I think that you are not taking into account that in sports betting the odds are also decided by the casinos themselves.
