One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.
Most private therapy sessions are very expensive but there are government-owned therapy doctors and personnel's that you can get at affordable rates depending on the place you stay or your country.
But you will need to divert that addiction to something else because it cannot go almost immediately so you can either redirect it to someone else like reading books or watching a movie, pending when you will fully recover from your addition. But personally you can actually do it on your own, if you're determined to stop the addiction habit, you can do it by training yourself by giving yourself some good discipline, you where not born with it, so why can't you stop it on your own.
Well said! First, if it were to be in my country, a private session in a private establishment would be the best choice. The money will not be a waste that much in the private establishment when it comes to the respect, treatment and genuineness they will accord to you and your case. This is unlike the government establishments which is mostly a hospital, in this case, they act as if they don't just care and they could be so annoying, for real.
That aside, addiction is so powerful that it's not as simple as thinking it could be defeated through the diversion of your attention to something else, it's beyond that. Fine, this is one of the general sayings that are most popular among therapists, psychiatrists and the rest, but in practice, it's not working if the mind is still very polluted. Other alternatives would be so boring at that time, so it takes a mind change to arrest that. I know this because I was addicted myself to something, there was no advice that was precious at that time. The only thing that helped me was when I was actually determined to let go all by myself, and this is where willpower comes in.
The determination to say No should come first if anyone wants to be healed of any addiction, it is only then that any prescription and advice can work. You first need to set your mind free of it for you to be able to fight. And guess what, it will be easy by then.
