There's no mention of KYC and the player did not get their money right away. It would've taken the player months for you to finish paying the player, instead they gambled it away.

I think that in such cases there should be an option to block the amount we want to withdraw until it is paid out in full. This would probably prevent OP from losing everything.

Exactly. It's not so uncommon for smaller online casinos to have weekly/monthly withdrawal limits - especially new ones, not backed-up with millions of $$$. However, many of them use this tactic in their advantage - at some point, most of the players would cancel cash-out, and spend it. Solution here is pretty straightforward - lock cashout (manual flushing). Player can't cancel withdrawal under any circumstances until whole amount is paid in full.
