Funny how Modric can play full 90 minutes every 3 days with 36+ years on his back and then people complain this schedule is too tough Smiley
Modric, what a legend, one of our best players this season is a 36yo grandpa, you love to see it lol  Grin
but, finally, he's going to rest tomorrow[1]

I know, just tried to add a bit of spice to our pool. We are way to civil for football pool, I feel like we need to add a bit of bravado and competitiveness to make it even more fun.
I actually alluded on an old evergreen YU movie "Balkanski spijun", when he said "maybe you got the wrong number, but you got who you asking for, telephone exchange can miss one time, but cannot several (hundred) times"
yeah, I have a football group with friends, where there is more "rude" talk, but cannot be that familiar with people around the pool, or at least it is hard for me to be that familiar
Never watched the movie, I believe I would remember that scene Smiley Just watched it now and I have to say we really have a beautiful language to swear in.

I understand that issue with familiarity very well. I stopped myself several times to write some spicy comment or taking a job at someone just because of that. There is also a problem of different cultures and for most of us English is not first language. I am happy to say that my participation in pools like this one and our poker series, has made me comfortable of talking in that way with some of the members which I believe will take my post as it was intended and not take offense.

Real started well tonight, already 1:0 up in 5th minute. Hope they continue in same way. Just waiting for them and one one more card in WBA-Villa match to cash in on nice multi. here is a bit from the movie, maybe you did watch it? disclaimer: it is not in English, so the rest of the crew will have a hard time to understand

@tomahawk9 is heading to yellow cap this round, already 13 points after Saturday and 3 exact predictions. I'm not sure how he managed to predict that Levante will beat Sociedad 2:1, because it's not something what many of us expected Cheesy
Bastard probably miss clicked Smiley

Sevilla screwed me for nice multi win yesterday with conceding that late goal. If you did not see it, go look it up, you will not regret it. Too be fair that guy will probably never hit a ball that perfectly on the match again. That is second time that happened to me this season. First was that incredible goal which Spurs conceded for 3:3 against West Ham a couple of months ago. Sometimes it is just not meant to be.

Just saw it, doesn't make me feel any better about myself. Put Sevilla in 3 of my parlays, Sociedad in one. Barca in One. Basically, La Liga screwed me up yesterday big time. Today I'm actually being dumb and putting Real into a parlay (15/10 seems good value, no?).

For me a similar reminder is Fernandinho whose last goal for City was probably the last he will ever do again, and won them the title by 1 point.  Sometimes football is worse than a broken heart.

@Trofo you have a point. Not enough trash talk in here but I'm not sure I know enough La Liga to spice it up. Let's give it more of a serious shot though;)

you can miss-click one, but not several times, and he also predict Barca good, so congrats on first day, did not saw 13 points from five matches often
I did not expected Villareal win as well
I know, just tried to add a bit of spice to our pool. We are way to civil for football pool, I feel like we need to add a bit of bravado and competitiveness to make it even more fun.

For instance my wife red some messages in my Fantasy group on viber just the other day and she had ask me to explain some of the more rude messages. After that she said: "I hope you are not friends with people like that" Smiley And my "Veteran soccer group" has so many inappropriate pictures that I sometimes have to delete them, and definitely never check them around the meals or in work.

After good game with Real Sociedad, Barca returns to reality again. I really don't have much to say about game, just one sentence which summarize everything perfectly. 80th minute, score is 2:2, Barca needs goal. And Koeman replace Coutinho by Dembele... Why?

Valencia again the foiler of teams. Can't win, but won't let others win!

it is really unbelievable, I am a real fan and they fooling me off each weekend, I would never think that I cannot guess any of their scores, if there was not for this Superbru pool, where they track your Boogie teams, I would think that I know what they will play, but obviously missing their score weekend after weekend

it is great that I do not bet on teams that I support, otherwise this season would be a worst, with Valencia, I cannot guess Everton in Premier as well, and Cagliari is also threshing my predictions each weekend

Barca can't win after all. Avoided betting on them, good thing the odds put me off (1.3 or so) otherwise I'd be screwed. Sociedad have 10 mins to score and win though, or my other parlay dies anyway. Just can't get a good streak in Spain for me.

Big day today everybody! Can't wait to see my Barca climb up another spot, really hoping Atletico drop more points with their games in hand but it's all down to Koeman and his gang to spice it up a little and play with freedom!

Eyes are on PSG for sure too so we need to build momentum!
It is still 2 months before that all important game vs. PSG and winter break + winter transfer window. Who knows how will Barca look then? PSG could even make a move to sign Messi during that transfer window, he is in the last year of contract after all and Barca is very short on money.

I am expecting good performance from Barca today, they are usually good on home pitch and Valencia is not what it was last season.

two goals in Barca - Sociedad match, Sociedad scored first, but Barca is back in a jiffy, Alba scored for 1:1 at the moment
will be very interesting to see where Sociedad is this season, if they keep their point (or even three) on Camp Nou, it could be that they are heading to CL next season, keep it up

I'm pretty sure we'll see them in UCL next season. They have 2 routes now actually, top 4 finish in La Liga which isn't at all impossible if they maintain their form and the regulars like Barca keep tripping up. The second route is if they go on and win Europa League, which is also possible if they get past United first;)

And finally exact score prediction for me - not that frequent thing this season Cheesy.

yeah, exact prediction for me as well, must say that I predicted this score, without expectation for it to score, since Sociedad was good this season, and I expected from them to get at least point last night, but Barca proved that there are only three strong teams in La Liga, and Sevilla as "wanna be", all the others are just "one night wonders"

does anyone know is there a bet for Barca to be third at the end of the season, seems so obvious at the moment?

Finally good game from Barcelona against strong team (offcourse if we ignore what was going on on last 20 minutes). Again, Barca wasted too many good chances to score in the 1st half and it let to nervous end of game. 2:1 score was very tricky and giving posession to Sociedad was like playing with fire.
Very important win. Now we 6 points behind Atletico, but they have one game in advance.

Put Barca in a couple of my parlays tonight but Leicester going down already kills one of them. Leeds coming from behind keeps me alive for one but need Liverpool to win and a couple more goals in the Leipzig/Hoffenheim to nail my other.

Barca looking good guys? Watching a high tempo Liverpool match so far not getting too much joy from Spurs, who's classic 1 break 1 goal strat is working grrr.

Of course. That's the only way to be "good" at any league, and that's a problem for most of us in Asia to be honest, it's impossible to watch all the games if we have a real life, but to be fair, I am pretty confident I know enough about my own team (Barca), and have been doing well up until this season on betting on them.

I love the quick response and equaliser from Jordi Alba, it could have been worse Barcelona are to go behind at the Half Time, now I hope they can create better chances to get more goals, we've got to keep win these next few games.

At this rate, I don't know what to do. Spend time to make picks, no points. Pick everything randomly, no points. Wish I could see majority picks for Superbru but you can only use up free picks to do that.

You need to be more indulged in the league. For example, I don't watch Serie A much and have no idea how teams like Genoa or Benevento play so apart from 3-4 games, it would have been wild guesses for me if I joined Serie A pool. Hence, I restrained from that pool.

But La Liga for me is different, I regularly watch games for almost all La Liga teams so I can feel the soul and body of these games. Hence, I can more accurately predict La liga results than any other league. This week I spent considerable time making my picks and successfully predicted first win of the season for Huesca FC. I also predicted close-win for Sevilla and domination from Real Madrid which both turned out to be accurate as well. However, I was wrong on Barcelona (I thought they would score more) and Real Betis (whom I thought would win). But even after dominating the game, it ended in the first draw of the season for Betis.

Anyhow, on the contrary, I casually made my picks last week. I won't say those were random picks but instead of studying matches, I simply chose scorelines based on my past assessment of teams within seconds. As a result, I got well-deserved 'wooden spoon'.

So, my suggestion for you is to consider factors like head to head performances, formation home team using, how away team play in away games, is it enough to counter the home team's strategy, is any team missing major players, etc. This will hardly take 5-10 minutes but ensure more effective outcomes. Factors like current standings, performance in the league so far, etc. don't matter much. We saw this week how Eibar dominated Real Sociedad in away game.

Of course. That's the only way to be "good" at any league, and that's a problem for most of us in Asia to be honest, it's impossible to watch all the games if we have a real life, but to be fair, I am pretty confident I know enough about my own team (Barca), and have been doing well up until this season on betting on them.

Rest of the teams though, I have to admit I'm just swinging for the bat most days. Thanks for the tip though!

Real won 3:1 and got me full 3 points today and nice amount on the ticket but it could have ended very differently. Bilbao got a red card in the early stages and Real dominated the match as expected but they weren't able to score a third goal to clinch it. Then in 92nd minute Bilbao had a great chance to equalize and I have no idea how Courtois managed to save that and from that save Real counter attack was lunched and they finally scored 3rd goal.
